We are celebrating being in this beautiful City fir the first time having never traveled to the South before. We’ve thoroughly enjoyed the classic Low Country cuisine but wanted to try something different and came upon Leyla’s serving Middle Eastern dishes. We found this wonderful bistro to be warm and cozy with a hint of sophistication. We had a great table by the front window on King Street watching the buzz of activity on the street while sipping a fabulous signature hibiscus martini that tasted as good as it looked. The appetizers were delish, specialty hummus and baba ganoosh, light salad of greens decorated with pomegranate and pine nuts and mint. The main course of lamb shank and sea bass were accompanied by generous portions of delicious golden rice and savory toppings. The proprietor Leyla’s and her children run this eatery and we’re attentive and gracious. We had a wonderful dinner and highly recommend this spot in this vibrant part of Charlton’s historic district.

Food was incredible!! Highly recommend the food.
Service was not good at all. We added a to-go order when we placed our main meal. An hour AFTER we finished eating our food, the to go order finally arrived. They gave a weak excuse as to why. I would have appreciated the truth - even if he told me he forgot to put in the order. And would have really appreciated a sincere apology for the significant delay. The food was for our son who we had promised a meal.

I’ll go back for the quality of the food. It is truly outstanding. I hope the service will improve to match the excellent cuisine.

I could go on for day’s as to how amazing Leyla turned out to be. We had intended to go somewhere else and they were closed and as it turned out we could not have been more pleased to find Leyla. Everything from the people to the food and drinks was the best we will definitely return.

Our meal was delicious as usual with fresh ingredients, perfectly prepared, authentic and masterfully served. The menu is a bit smaller but only makes for a more eloquent presentation of the perfect array of options.
We are Lebanese and dining at Leyla reminds me of my aunts from the old country preparing me a special meal!
Can’t miss experience if visiting Charleston!

Absolutely delicious! My husband and I were completely wowed. The service was amazing and the food was beyond delicious! We both had osmanlieh for dessert, and we both agreed that it was one of the best desserts we’ve ever had. In short, we will DEFINITELY be back to Leyla’s.

Ordered tabouleh, hummus, pita, falafel and grape leaves. The falafel was a tad dry for my tastes, but everything else was fabulous and very authentic. The grape leaves and tabouleh were both phenomenal.

Location and ambiance are great and service was quick and unobtrusive. A little on the pricey side for what it was but that’s Charleston for you. Definitely worth a trip.

Nice to feel like I'm back in a real middle eastern vibe place. The Lamb Kabob was good but almost too mild on flavor (maybe it was us, but we were hoping for more "umph"/lemon/salt/spices, something)- kind of bland. The vegetables were sparse for the hefty price to add them to the dinner, the rice portion was equally small, but the rice had the most flavor of anything served. The spicy humus was good, but not epic like the price. The waiter talked me into going "medium body" on my small glass of wine which leaped the price tag from $10 to $16! Very expensive evening for small portions, but a nice change.

Leyla is an amazing place! I took my girlfriend to the restaurant and got in touch with the restaurant owner to do a favor for us (a specialized cake). She was so kind and helpful! Not only did she get us a specialized cake, but she also got a rose for my girlfriend. I am so so thankful to her and the entire staff for making this such a memorable day for us!
The food was absolutely incredible. Hands down THE BEST Lebanese cuisine I've had in my life. The drinks were so tasty too! This place is incredible. I would highly recommend it.
I would rate this place a 100 out of 10.

The ran out of a lot of options for the appetizers and we ordered the combination entree. We did not get one of the portions of the combination meal and we were never informed that they ran out of the meals/ingredients until after dinner was served. In fact, only when we inquired about the combo did they tell us.

High prices do not match the mediocre atmosphere. Food was very good except for the chicken which was overcooked and dry. You are mostly paying for the rent on King Street. For the same price there are many other restaurants in Charleston where you can have a more legitimate "fine dining" experience. For example, try Stella's on Warren street if you are going for Mediterranean food. You will need to plan ahead for a reservation. You will pay much less there for a more interesting atmosphere, better service, and equivalent, if not better, food.

In other thoughts, I am about over the whole "fine dining" thing altogether. Not just this restaurant, but all of them. I can have as much, or more, fun at a local pizza spot or trying my hand with a new recipe at home. The whole thing just feels so contrived and elitist any more, even for a date night. When so many are struggling in this world it just feels morally bankrupt to throw down a few hundred dollars on a single meal. Eating is just eating after all. It should not be the focal point of an entire evening. So many great things to do in this world, eating out just isn't that much fun in comparison. Also, it makes me feel old. I'm just over it all I guess.

We were in Charleston on vacation and ate here with my family. The Best Lebanese food -and I am Lebanese, so I know quality food. We had delicious shrimp and chicken kabobs. Also had the whole fish and ordered grape leaves/hummus as appetizers. The baklava dessert is not to be missed. We met the owner Dolly, who works so hard at her restaurant. This restaurant is in a great location right in King Street in the heart of the shopping district. Cannot wait to go back again - highly recommend.

I am from NYC and we have many middle eastern restaurants. Turkish, Greek, Lebanese, Moroccan. I’ve eaten at many. Layla was very good, however the prices were extremely high in comparison to what we pay in NYC, which is normally a pricey restaurant experience. In fact, Leyla was the priciest meal of any restaurant I visited while in Charleston.
