A great change of pace for Charleston, nestled in between all the raw bars, bbq joints and crab houses. Food was great and authentic. The lamb shank was melt in your mouth. A little expensive but portions are pretty big. Inside could be updated a little, but the food makes up for it.
Fantastic food with great service! Leyla made sure to check on us throughout. I highly recommend the lentil soup, it’s a perfect blend of flavors. Will definitely be coming back!
The service at Leyla's is first-class and the food is consistently delicious! Our family has repeatedly dined here since the spring of 2020.
Great location. Nice service. Only ok food. Was a bit disappointed in our meals. Beef schwarma was not special. Meat not tender at all. The pita was not homemade. My daughter got a vegetarian dish and it was good hum. Husband got a fish dish and he did really like his but I can't remember what he was. So one out of three was happy.
Had beef kabob’s that did not have much diversity in terms of ingredients. Meat was over cooked for both myself and my wife.
The food was fantastic - However, entrees are $35+ for the holiday menu. The ambiance was somewhat weird, because the food arrived very quickly - Entrees served before appetizer was complete. Then, we had to wait an awkward amount of time for our check, because the servers were closing - It was very obvious that they wanted us to leave even though we had a reservation and were early for our arrival time. The gentleman (who I assume is the owner) was present, but did not walk around to greet the tables. Overall, it wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t impressive either.
The best ever
Truly authentic Lebanese food. The world’s best hummus.
Grape leaves really tasty. Entrees terrific. Chocolate martinis wonderful. Try the white chocolate ones. Pricing a little high on a NYE menu. Overall a wonderful evening.
Wonderful find at short notice! Food, ambiance, staff and service were outstanding - very friendly atmosphere and great cuisine. Highly recommend it.
Outstanding food, flavorful and amazing, attentive wait staff!
Only place open for Christmas so I give them kudos for that. Food was decent (I’m a tough critic though as I’ve been to Beirut!) Ambience was lacking unfortunately. Prices were high. And staff clearly didn’t want to be there.
My husband is Of mid eastern decent and he said that the lamb was excellently prepared. Everything was fresh and of excellent quality. We live in Myrtle Beach and will definitely be dining there again.
31st Anniversary Dinner, Christmas Day lunch was exceptional! In my travels, I’ve eaten in every country on the Mediterranean coast (except Libya) and the food here rivals all of them. My next trip to Charleston will include a stop here.
A little hidden gem! The lamb shank was soooo good! We also had the whole fish which was very fresh. It would be better with some source on top. The owner told us later that they have a homemade hot sauce to go with it upon order. We would have ordered that had we known that was an option, but delicious even without it. Desserts were delicious too. Definitely will return next time we are in town.
Pleasantly surprised by the quality of food, service, and the ambiance. The food was exceptional, spiced perfectly to enhance flavors, and the service was warm, inviting, and comfortable. Tables were nicely spaced, the atmosphere was charming, quiet conversation was possible with background music and soft lighting to set the mood.
We enjoyed this restaurant very much. The service and food was excellent. We recommend it highly. The authentic menu items were presented so nicely.
Had an excellent Christmas lunch with family at the Leyla Fine Lebanese cuisine. We really liked their appetizers - Baba ghanoush and Hummus and their entree Lamb Shanks are exquisite and the best we have had anywhere. And finally, the Osmalieh dessert helped us complete the Christmas lunch with a very nice dessert shared family style. Overall, very highly recommended if you are in Charlotte.
Very expensive, I think you pay more for the scenery and ambience. Food was okay.
It takes a unique pallet but the food is very good if you like mediterranean dishes. Hummus is the best I’ve had. Also the Desserts are great
The service was great so I hate to leave a bad review, but the food was sub-par. We were very well taken care of by the FOH, but were disappointed with the food. The only thing that really met our expectations was the spicy hummus. Everything else was bland. If the prices were cheaper then I would say it’s a fine place to eat, but for $200 we were greatly disappointed.
This is a much loved locally owned restaurant specializing in authentic Lebanese cuisine. It is our top dining choice in Charleston, where many wonderful restaurants are available.
I eat a lot of Lebanese. The Tabbouleh was almost tasteless. The Pita was not fresh and had a weird after taste (I'm used to getting warm fresh bread at Lebanese restaurants near me). The hummus we had at the bar at Charleston Place was by far superior to the hummus at Leyla. We ordered chicken shawarma (the chicken was dry and tough. My friend did not eat it) and the chicken kabob (was okay). I asked for some lemon from the bar and added it to the tabbouleh and the chicken kabob and it certainly elevated the flavor. I was sooo disappointed! Our local fast food Lebanese place in Annapolis is far superior.
It was a lovely time! The hummus was amazing and the kabobs very delicious. The staff was constantly thinking ahead at our needs. The dinner was seamless. I was a bit surprised by the prices of the entrees but that was more on us for not looking ahead. The food was just worth the price.
The staff was charming and attentive. We tried several menu offerings and, they were all delicious. Leyla visited our table to make sure that our experience was superb. Highly recommend!
Tasteful appetizers and entree’s. Service is always good. We go there every time we visit Charleston. A little pricey though.
It was the best meal I have had in a while! The food was outstanding. The rice is the best rice ever. Get the grape leaves. The veggie option was outstanding!
Had a wonderful meal a Leyla for my wife’s birthday.
The staff accommodated 9 of us easily with great food and some brilliant experimental cocktails made to order!
A great atmosphere too - you wouldn’t guess you were in the heart of King St.
The food was very good, Anthony made us some great drinks, and Travis was the perfect waiter. I liked the ambience- beautifully decorated-it's not a large restaurant- its cozy and not too noisy. The owner stopped by our table- good discussion with one of our party who had been in the middle east re food. We ordered appetizers, entrees and dessert- my favorite appetizer- Kellej Halloumi - sheep cheese- really yummy. And desert- don't miss the Osmalieh!
Try the beef Shawarma it is awesome.
They have excellent vegetarian options as well.
The food was very good as was the service. Given the closeness of the tables, we had to listen to some very loud talking patrons around us, hence my ratings for ambiance.
The food is fantastic, while we were hoping for a family-style meal experience this spot is more refined for a quite dining experience. Highly recommend.
The food was very good. The location is right on King Street.
The lamb and beef shawarma are amazing
We celebrated our daughter's birthday at Leyla's where she has wanted to go for about a year! The food was great, especially the lamb shank and the shawarma! Dali is a wonderful hostess and we enjoyed her stories. We will definitely be back!
Wonderful food. Great service.
The best Middle Eastern food in Charleston and the absolute best humus anywhere...the chef's humus has pomegranate seeds in it which really adds a pop of wonderfulness to the flavor. The service is excellent and the ambiance at night is very cozy, warm and inviting with candles on each table flickering a warm environment. It was a bit expensive before and now, after covid, the cost has gone up even more. But that's pretty much everywhere...it's just hard to 'swallow' (excuse the pun). Going out to even a casual restaurant is really hitting our pocketbooks now.
This was a magical night! Our family gathering was perfect wit wonderful food and atmosphere!
We loved Leyla! The food was delicious, especially the Lamb Shank. I’m so glad we tried it as part of our trip.
Excellent food! Super nice owners! Loved it! Amazing falafels. My favorite restaurant!
