Lexington Brass Ratings and Reviews
Nice restaurant close by the hotel that I stayed at - good pub vibe, and very good food. The wait staff was attentive and efficient, except for forgetting to bring my drink order.
But ... shortly after we were seated, about twenty patrons streamed in, occupying two tables of about ten each. The big group itself was fine - but there were twenty of them.
I do have a problem being seated next to a big party when other (quieter) tables were available - and clearly the big group had a reservation - so not sure why we were seated so near them. The restaurant staff should have tried to keep other diners away from the bustle and noise.
Good food, quick service. Not a good place for a business lunch. Tables are so jammed together you are practically sitting with the table on your left and on your right. Cannot have any sort of business conversation if you are at all self conscious about not sharing it with the world.
The coffee mugs were cracked and leaking. The food was served cold and soggy. Less than an hour after our reservation time we were rushed out with the presentation of the bill and being asked twice if we were ready to pay. I only assume the rush was to accommodate the larger parties they were expecting which is all the servers discussed while hovering over the server station next to our table.
I always choose this place for special occasions and business meals but this time the service was not really good. Our glasses were not filled with water promptly, even though we asked for it at least twice. The restaurant week pre-fix menu was just ok.
Hope you improve a little bit...thanks
Having been to Lexington Brass for brunch a few days earlier with a relative, I came back for an early supper with business colleagues. It was busy and buzzy - very lively for a Wednesday evening in January. Service and food were both good. Lexington Brass is not a place for a quiet meal, whether romantic or business, but for a lively brunch, lunch or supper with friends, relatives or colleagues it's a great mid-town option.
Came into celebrate Christmas and a Birthday. We arrived between the end of brunch and dinner menu. The restaurant should not have accepted our reservation if they were not ready or willing to serve us. Waited for more than 45 minutes to place an appetizer order. Taste quality of the food was uneven. Some drinks and menu items were delicious and others just unremarkable. The grilled octopus, mussels were outstanding and SO delicious! Would return for those items. The oysters were very small but fresh and sweet. The entree’s were less. My hubby ordered the mushroom spaghetti which was very rich but good tasting and a nice mix of many exotic types of mushrooms and truffles. I got the filet. Just kind of meh. It was tender but the herb crusting and overall not very flavorful. Needed more spice and salt for sure. There was nothing special on the menu for the holiday and no acknowledgement of the special occasion even though noted on the reservation.
This is our second visit to Lexington Brass. I had the BEC omelette which was good (Bacon, Onion, Cheddar) he had the the eggs benedict which he liked. The truffle fries were not that good and our waiter (per my request) took it off the bill since we didn't like it and didn't eat it. Sounds like a small gesture but $11 was a lot for fries.
My only complaint was the hostess who initially seated us by the wait-station which I don't like as there is a lot of activity surrounding the wait-station. She showed her displeasure when we asked for a different table. She suggested another table that was next to a different wait-station. We again stated why that was not acceptable. She said she was expecting a large party and couldn't give us the table we wanted. We said we would be there for only about 1/2 hour and she relented. During our stay the tables around us did not get filled so we were skeptical of her excuses. It was Christmas day so she could have been unhappy about working that day.
Hostess asked me twice if I was still a party of 7, even though I confirmed it the day before and upon arrival and answered her question the first time around. So that made me feel a bit harassed. The bartender was really good and attended to us and provided some water while we waited for our table. The waiter was very accommodating and professional, as well as friendly. The food was good!
My boyfriend and I came here for a special date night. The kitchen was running a little slow that night, but it made for a better experience because our meal was leisurely and not rushed. The food was delicious, the waitstaff was friendly and helpful, and the drinks were extremely creative. Highly recommend checking out Lexington Brass!
