I really wanted to like this place as I just travelled to the Middle East and loved the food! The hummus was amazing. Hulumi cheese app was too much bread and bland. Shrimp meal was over cooked, rubbery shrimp. Wine was good but selection is limited. Our server didn’t know much about wine or their selections. Server was attentive and enthusiastic, however they didn’t have cash in their til to make change for our $55 check — you couldn’t paynwith cash! Not sure if I’ll go back. Unfortunate b
Great for quick work lunches
If you love Mediterranean food, you must go to Levant. This was, by far, the best Mediterranean meal I have ever had. We enjoyed hummus, baba ganoush, stuffed grape leaves, falafel, and all the staples of this part of the world. Our server was attentive and kind, and the decor was an ornate Mediterranean style. Definitely going back!
This is a great little spot to have lunch with friends. Owner made it to our table to chat and she is absolutely hilarious.
We went here for my roommates birthday. The food was excellent, and service prompt. You get a lot per serving, and the beer was incredibly unique. Loved this experience!!
I had a lovely dinner. Everything was cooked and seasoned well. It was a little slow for a Friday night, but that did not detract from the overall quality of the service and food.
Dinner for one pre theatre. My friend wasn't able to make it this particular evening. so I was solo. I ordered a Turkish coffe to start. Very authentic and delicious. I opted for the vegetarian plate choice of seven sides. My waitress was so sweet and helped me choose 7 options. My meal was delicious and I was stuffed. The service phenomenal the food fabulous. I really enjoyed myself and look forward to visiting again soon
This was our first time to Levant. It was quiet. I guess Speed Street took lots of folks farther North in Uptown. The food was delicious. Five of six of us had kebabs. I had the rack of lamb. Everyone spoke very highly of the kebabs. My lamb was delicious. It was tender and cooked perfectly. The wine pours were generous. The by the glass selections were really tasty. We recommend Levant and would definitely go back again.
The bar is pretty limited to wine and beer, a few martinis that all tasted the same regardless of the flavor. No fancy cocktails like a margarita though
We had never been to Levant before, but we are already planning our next trip back. Menu had lots of different foods all sounding delicious.
EXCELLENT restaurant. Beautiful décor, tasty food, and superior service. This place is a hidden gem--it should be packed all the time!
We try to visit anytime we go to Knights Theatre. Great food and wine and very pleasant atmosphere. We will see you again.
The food was amazingly good, and the service was fantastic. I would absolutely come back again.
Dined here after a jazz concert at the Bechtler.
Food average: Enjoyed the sides, but our kabobs (3 out of 4 diners at our table ordered them) were overcooked--dry.
Wine list very limited.
Might try this spot for lunch--perhaps they do better with simpler fare, sandwiches.
Staff friendly and attentive.
Levant is our preferred place to eat when attending week night events at the Knight Theater and Mint, Gantt and Bechtler Museum. The hostess and waitress are always friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed all the options selected on the vegetarian combo. Their lamb chops and lamb kabobs are tasty and prepared to my request. Everything including the vegetable soup was fresh. The dark rich Turkish coffee and baklava were a perfect finish to our meal.
I booked a table here ahead of a show at Knight Theater (literally right across the street!) despite the number of less-than-great reviews I read. I'm not sure where the people who left bad reviews ate because we really enjoyed our dinner.
The restaurant was far from full the entire time we were there (no more than two or three other tables) and the place was silent -- that's probably the only drawback. But our server was very attentive and took time to make sure we knew what we were ordering.
The portions were a good size and the food was very good. Overall, I'd go back again!
We try to visit anytime we're in downtown Charlotte for an event at Knight's Theatre. Love the food, wine and the atmosphere. Really can't go wrong but if you're going to the theatre, you may not be able to take your leftovers.
We are regular customers when attending events at the Knight Theater and Museums. We enjoy the middle eastern food choices and friendly efficient service.
Ambiance and food are very authentic and delicious. Wine choices are good. Service was excellent.
The restaurant did not honor our reservation. A staff member said they were closed.
We really enjoy the freshly prepared mid eastern dishes. Server is always friendly. Great spot when going to the Knight Theater and Bechtler Museum events.
We go to Levant on a regular basis and find the food consistently very good and service friendly and efficient.
The restaurant was closed and dark inside. No signs. Will not waste my time again!!!
Very expensive for the quality. Most items were good, but the dinner I ordered was terrible. The owner agreed no one likes it, but the waiter said it was good before I ordered it, so I was confused. They refused to change it out so I paid $23.00 for a small cup of cucumbers and cream and about 4oz of rice. The attitude was nasty! I guess I should have realized when we are the ONLY ones in a restaurant at 7:00 in a Friday night in Uptown, there was a problem here. We asked for a few extra carrots and celery, we were not told there were some included on the plate with our dinners and would have been sufficient, but were brought a bowl of random vegetables and charged $6.00. Staff is not educated, although the waiter was polite. Manager had a nasty attitude and only offered to fix anything after we told her we would be sure to write an accurate review. No surprise they were empty!
Very expensive for the amount of food and food quality.
Very rude hostess which made the experience uncomfortable. As soon as we walked in for our 730 reservation, she didn't even greet us but gruffly told us to hurry and put our order in because the kitchen was closing at 8. We hadn't even been seated. That just set the tone for an awkward and rushed experience where our dessert was brought out while we ate dinner. Not to mention the place was almost empty. She didn't even acknowledge us as we left, being the only other table there. Very poor manners. Would not go eat there again.
It was the craziest thing... No one was there! It looked like there was some type of remodeling going on outside, but the inside seemed normal. There was only one other couple there waiting to be seated. Prime dinner time. No hostess, no servers, nothing. Someone came from the back that did not seem to understand us. He sort of acted like he would get someone to take care of us and no one ever came back. We would call the number for the restaurant and it would go to an answering machine. We ended up at Halcyon which was wonderful, so all is well that ends well, I guess...
Enjoy the lamb kabobs and salads. Shared several middle eastern fresh, delicious side dishes. Service is efficient and very friendly.
After reading other reviews I was a little concerned about how this would be. I had the vegetarian combo -- you get to pick seven, yes, 7, side items. They were all terrific. My husband had the kabob combo and enjoyed it all. The wine is very pricey. Our waiter was from Morocco and even though it was his first night working here, he was completely familiar with the menu and was great at his job. We left him 30%. I hope the construction mess outside here doesn't wreck their business. We plan to return.
This was a great meal. My husband and I went to Levant prior to a concert. The food was fantastic and a great place to go with friends. The view right now isn't great due to construction.
We chose Levant as our dining option before a show at The Knight Theatre. The service and food were Ok for the price. We would go back, but it would not be a 1st choice pick.
The food was more than excellent.
Service was quite poor. Our waitress was the only visible person working there was not at all friendly or personable. She tried to take our dishes away before we were finished and then when we were done left us sitting there for what seemed like an eternity. When she finally came back she offered our check without offering dessert or coffee. I guess we were an inconvenience for her.
All along the background music played from a radio with commercials included!
Marvelous cuisine from the Levant. The decor is so authentic. Be sure & put it on your list!
Everything we ate was delicious. However, $60 for a Valentine's meal consisting of a salad, appetizer, kababs and lava cake with sparkling wine is not a good value. We paid for the atmosphere and location. While everything was seasoned well, it is (afterall) a limited menu serving kabobs. I could have had the same meal at Kabob Grill or another restaurant for $45 or less.
They have some import beers, like Delirium that are hard to find. It will cost you $9 for 1 bottle, but they have a few brews on the menu we can only find at a handful of restaurants in Charlotte.
Levant is an excellent restaurant specializing in Middle Eastern food, e.g. tabouleh, felafels, baba ganoush, hummus, flat bread. One excellent mezze (appetizer) we had was a shrimp dish, very flavorful. Service was excellent, as is the value, and it's a great place to go before catching a show at the Knight Theater or the Blumenthal PAC.
Very convenient to Knight and Bechtler. Friendly, efficient service, love Mediterranean menu choices especially sides and lamb.
Me and my date get there on a Monday night at 7pm. There wasn't very many people there and the lady sat us. All normal... the lady grabs out menus and ask us what we would like to drink and if we knew what we wanted. We told her it was our first time so to give us a minute to look through the menu. She literally grabs our drinks and tells us we need to hurry up and decide what we want! We weren't even there for 10mins and she was super rude. Come to find out she told us she wanted to close the kitchen early since they weren't having many customers come in (I wonder why lol) She then preceded to stand off to the side and stare us down as we are looking through the menu. Did I mention she was the manager/owner? I can understand a cold Monday wanting to close up early but you don't have to be super rude, especially since we were nice and patient. They also didn't close until 9.
Food was under cooked and bland.
If you want a good Mediterranean restaurant I recommend Kabab - Je Rotisserie & Grille in Matthews
Much better price, better food, and the owner and staff are actually super nice!!
ps. the hummus at Kabab is the best in charlotte!!
Both the food and service were fantastic. Wonderful atmosphere and great drinks!
The decor is beautiful and the staff were friendly. But the food was just ok. Actually, it was barely ok.
We started our New Year's Eve trying some new. The decor was one to be admired..
The Service was simple but precise.
The food was delicious!
Chicken Kabobs & Shrimp skewers....
