Great place to eat and enjoy local color. Our food was great and the waitress couldn't be better.
The food as always was very good but the waitress was never around and we had to wait a long time to order drinks, our food and dessert.
Absolutely a trip to Paris! What an amazing
incarnation of the charming atmosphere,
culinary passion, classic dishes and regional
creativity of the best bistros in France. We do
not live in Vermont, but find many excuses to cross
Lake Champlain in order to feast at Leunig's Bistro.
Enjoyed the ambiance upstairs. Great meal! Service was attentive without being intrusive. Would love to go again!
This was my second time at Leunig's. I enjoyed the shrimp po'boy, my husband enjoyed his lunch, but adult kids didn't care for kolrabi dish they ordered.
My boyfriend and I had a very romantic dinner date here! We sat along the wall. The service was great, as well as the food and the wine!
Had the best meal of my life last weekend at Leunig's! I ordered their seasonal dish of seared scallops with pumpkin risotto. The whole dish was to die for! We also ordered 2 desserts, the coconut cream pie and the pumpkin cheesecake. Both were so delicious! I wish I came back and ate here every night I was in town.
You can always count on a good meal and experience. Food is consistently good. Great Ambience, good service, friendly and Convenient.
Our second or third meal here in the past couple years. All meals have been good to very good. We had 6PM reservations , and we trying to get in and out for a 7:30 Flynn show. They accommodated us nicely for that. We had drinks and entrees only. A couple of us had the filet with a white seafood sauce over the top (supposedly containing crab and lobster - but very tiny pieces if true), asparagus and mashed potatoes. The filet was not perfect, it had some small gristle strands through it (meat cutter?) but it was cooked perfectly and you could eat it all. A bit pricey at $35. They should put a good sized piece of lobster and crab meat ontop to dress it up . Two of us had the scallop dish - outstanding. Two of us had steak frittes, also very good. Eating quarters are tight in the dining room, but the food is always very very good and the wait staff is attentive, and food comes out promptly. Presentation was good, esp. the scallops. We all felt good about our meals and the experience.
Everything was fantastic but the duck really stood out. Wonderful meal.
Marvelous place to celebrate a special occasion. The onion soup is delightful, and you can't go wrong with garlic mashed potatoes
Consistent great food and consistent great service!
NEVER disappoints. Special request from my daughter for her birthday: got the table we requested. Exc. service. Great menu selection, well prepared - delicious. Steak & frites, 3 pates, cheese, pork chop special (with delicious sweet corn shoots garnish), house made shrubs, wonderful maple creme brûlée and coconut oreo cream pie. nuff said
I love dining at this restaurant! The food is always delicious and the staff is always courteous and professional. Definitely a winner!
Great ambiance, wonderful service . It was an authentic bistro dining experience. Reminded me of dining at a bistro in Paris. The server was friendly and very knowledgeable/helpful about wines. She was also very accomadating about food allergies in our party as well. The steak frites and beef bourgenoin were both excellent.
I had guests from out of town visiting Burlington for the first time. I thought making reservations at Leuning's would offer them the nicest ambiance on a nice summer evening because the restaurant offers open-air dining. First the hostess tried to seat us upstairs in a closed-in room with little ambiance compared to the downstairs. I asked if we could sit downstairs instead and explained the above. She then took us to the back of the restaurant away from any windows, when there was plenty of seating in the bar area, which offers the most ambiance. I was too embarrassed to asked to be seated in yet a third place, so we reluctantly sat down. Once we ordered our food, it came within five to ten minutes--giving us no time to enjoy conversation before our meal. We were in and out just under a half an hour! Both of my guests told me they "felt the seating stunk, the meal was overpriced and that the whole experience was wham, bam, thank you mam". Not the experience I was hoping for. Leuning's will not come to mind again when I want to go out to dinner.
Cocktails were creative and delicious. There were no specials that evening, but there were several appealing menu choices . The Nicoise Salad was especially amazing! While we were seated in a comfortable corner, for two, we specifically chose that evening knowing there was live jazz at 7pm. I asked the hostess, "will we be able to hear the live music ?", and she assured me - yes. However, we were disappointed that we couldn't hear the music at all, only as we walked out after dinner. That was the only drawback -- overall a very nice experience. Our server was excellent - courteous, helpful, and just the right amount of attentiveness.
A good meal including a beet salad, chicken pasta and scallops. The scallop plate was somewhat disappointing as there were 3 small scallops decorating a salad plate. Disappointment due to the price at $31. We were expecting twice that number shellfish for the cost of the dinner.
Leunigs is always good. My favorite downtown place
My boyfriend and I decided to spend our 3 year anniversary in Burlington, VT. Per a recommendation of a friend, we decided to get a reservation at Leunig's. It was delicious! Hands down, one of the best meals we have ever had together. 100% recommend.
Food good. Pimento cheese + lobster interesting, very very good. Steak good, not great. Service SLOW, took 30 minutes from order to get drinks. Prices reasonable, atmosphere fun. Would recommend.
Overall the food is great. This is one of my regular spots. The service was good (as always). Overall, I like the place and I will return.
Beyond fabulous...as always! Such a delight to experience all that Leunig's has to offer!
Have been to Leunigs regularly for the past 5 years but was v disappointed with the service. Waitress forgot my husband's soup but gave a lip service apology, very limited interaction with our table, no roll and no water replenishing🙁
Sunday brunch was amazizbg. Possibly the best breakfast/bunch meal I have ever had. Great service and incredible food! Trying the Steak and eggs is a must!
The service is horrific. Aside from lack of attention, the servers have close to little experience when it comes to taking orders, clearing tables, placing utensils, and interacting with guests. The servers weren't even that busy, they had plenty of time to stroll through the dining room, while rolling their eyes every time we try to catch their attention.
Leunig's menu charges NYC pricings, and their food does not match up to the price they've set. Green gazpacho wasn't even green; i've never seen such tiny mussels with a sad 'curry' sauce; the "1/2 whole roasted duck" was literally 2 duck confit legs, rather than a breast and a thigh; my beef bourgignon was over-braised strings of beef that didn't even come with a bourgignon reduction sauce-- it was a brown tomato sauce with no red wine.
Worst experience food was awful!!
Leunig's never fails to satisfy, good food, attentive and pleasant staff! Our only complaint was the neighboring table with a toddler that was out of control shrieking. Our waitress tried to find another available table but everything was committed.........not Leunig's fault, bad parenting :)
We recommend this dining destination as often as we can!
Good lunch. The food was good and the beer selection was nice. The add-ons (such a truffled mashed potatoes) pricing is confusing and not well explained on the menu. Every thing else was great
