The duck was amazing and my wife loved the sea bass. $25 corkage is reasonable for Carmel.

We had a great dinner as usual . Our waiter Jeremy gave us excellent service. We have been to this restaurant many times when we lived in East Bay. We now live in East Coast but when we come back to visit we will always make s stop at L’Escargot! It’s a hidden gem.

Fine French cuisine and divine wine. I especially liked the rabbit and penne. The service was excellent. Having lived in France, I really love this restaurant. It was the highlight of my visit to Carmel.

We had a tasty dinner last Friday. My sister had the steak and I had the Beef Wellington, both of which were fantastic. Portions were just the right size. For dessert we split the apple tart which was one of the best I have every had. I would definitely visit this restaurant again.

The restaurant was highly recommended to us and it did not disappoint. Our waiter was attentive and friendly, which we like. The wine and food was excellent. My husband had the medallions of veal and I had the scallops. We loved both dishes. A definite must when you visit Carmel. Make sure you allow extra time to park because spaces are hard to find.

I am a local.
I am a regular.
One of, if not the longest lasting restaurants in Carmel with one family in continuous.
Starting with the owner, Kerry and the entire staff.. each time we walk in, feels like we are home.
We use it as our local .... spot... when we don't want to cook.
If you don't try it... you have missed a true local gem!

We eat at a lot of fine dining restraunts when we travel, but this was truly out of this world! Words cannot describe our joy when our food began to arrive,WOW is too little to say,but I feel everyone should treat themselves to the experience we had. Jeremy was our knowledgeable server and recommended a wonderful Cote de Rhone for our meal,we loved it and ordered the bottle. I believe that this next dish should not go without noting, at the end of our meal I got dessert and my husband asked for cheese, well this is not on the menu but Jeremy spoke with the chef and out comes a beautiful cheese platter! This is a very appreciated and it was just another reason to return. We actually made an another reservation for one of our last days in Carmel. Thank you to you all for a making a memorable meal and a delightful experience.

My wife and i had an amazing meal last night .the food was incredible ,service perfect, Sean was our waiter .the only bad part was the specials made it even harder to choose what to eat .you can not go wrong with this resturant. I lived in Paris for 7 years ,last night I felt I went back there for a few hours.

My cousin and I went for dinner on our birthdays (same day)while vacationing in Carmel.
We told the waiter that it was BOTH of our birthdays, but he never referred to it again. A little disappointing. The food was very good - we had the fixed price dinner - but there was NO ambiance. Doing it over, we would have chosen somewhere else.

We've lived on the Monterey Peninsula for nearly thirty years. Yet this was our first time at L'Escargot. Now that we'd eaten there we'll be back.

My French Onion soup did not have the depth of flavor I expected. The Sweetbreads tasted old and the pastry was lacking. The snails could have more garlic and sauce. The rabbit was good.

This is now our favorite place to dine in Carmel. Our waiter, Dino, was efficient and knowledgeable. We dine out a lot and couldn't find anything to complain about. The country pate appetizer was authentic. The scallops were the best we have ever had and the veal was excellent.

Small but quaint French restaurant in Carmel. We came here to celebrate our wedding anniversary and we were not disappointed. The food and service was fantastic. We had the Beef Wellington with foie gras and the duck two ways (confit and seared duck breast). Both dishes were well executed. Rich and great technique. We won't hesitate to come back!

Recommended by friends, and we were not disappointed. The service was impeccable, and the food was classic, exceptionally well prepared and good to the last bite. We enjoyed the experience so much, we returned the following evening, cancelling our other reservation. We will definitely return.

I would love to have given this restaurant a higher rating - the food is excellent and the service was outstanding. But this week was the second time this year that we encountered a group of diners who were Texans. To put it mildly, I've been to quieter tailgate parties. These folks are apparently regulars here, so I guess they pour a lot of money into the restaurant's coffers. But it really kills the atmosphere of trying to have a fine dining experience when a bunch of loud mouths are occupying the same small space. These weren't kids, either, but older folks who apparently have zero regard for others. Reservations are definitely needed, but when you do call, it may help to ask if the loud Texans will be there.

1966: My wife an I dined here on our honey moon fifty years ago. 2017: We were pleasantly surprised to find that that the snail is even better today than it was then, and in 1966 L'Escargot was THE Carmel destination. Then and now: great service, great place to eat great food. Order the crab cakes, duck and peach cobbler. Die contentedly.
