Les Zygomates Wine Bar Bistro Ratings and Reviews
The food was excellent, amazing. The waiter was brand new and very inexperienced. He was nice but just was not well trained, didn’t know the menu or really know the food. We are real foodies so recommendations from the waiter are important to a great meal. Not sure if it’s was him or the training? Also generally love music, but this was not good. Still the food was incredible and that’s what you go to a restaurant for, right?
$1 oysters were a pleasant surprise so we started with a dozen of those. Delicious! There is an extensive wine list and our waiter was great; he picked out a few wines that I wouldn't have otherwise tried to sample and he was spot on. Then we listened to the live jazz piano while waiting for our main courses - steak frites (ask them to substitute truffle fries for the regular fries and you won't be disappointed). Topped the meal of with a creme brulee that you should save room for.
Perfect for a casual or business gathering. I especially liked the bar area where it was open but gave enough space between tables. The atmosphere was smooth, laid back and sophisticated. This was the first time at the restaurant and I was impressed, from the beer/drink selection, food and employees. I can't wait to go back and tell my friends about it!
Awful experience. Served a Random dinner that I did not order. Then to try to fix it served me a teaspoon of Bernaise sauce. Server thought it was comicle and smirked. My husband and I ate nothing for our anniversary. Then come to find out our credit card was charged twice. I'm still mad
Service was awful! We waited a good 15-20 minutes before our waiter acknowledged us and a half hour for our meals - 2 burgers and a club sandwich. The dining room was almost half full so no excuse for slow service with waitstaff or kitchen. And no explanation or apologies for service - or lack there of. Sandwiches were ok but not great. Won't be knocking down doors to return anytime soon.
The pork chop was over cooked and dry
The ravioli were over salted
They should increase the size of the stage and have the pianist in a classical sideways position to the audience
The pianist is outstanding and many people come to see her not her back
The service is excellent as usual
Food was OK. Wellfleet oysters were a wee bit suspect. menu not particularly French. Duck was a bit chewy. Service was a tad slow - not that busy but polite and pleasant staff. Jazz was great. Atmosphere good. high ceilings helped diffuse ambient noise. Cocktails great.
We had a very nice dinner at Les Zygomates. It was chosen based on proximity to the Seaport district. Music was a nice touch, although it can be a little loud for dinner conversation. Food was excellent, although somewhat pricy. Service was good, but shortstaffed even though it was not very busy.
Always a good, easy location for a South Station area business or friend lunch.
Disappointment this time, however. On my Open Table reservation, I had requested a table by the window. I was seated in the back room, with no windows at all. I might have complained, but my lunch companion had arrived on time and been seated. I arrived two minutes after my reservation, but the hostess was no where in sight. When she returned after I had waited 10 minutes -- meaning that my lunch companion had been kept waiting for me -- requesting the kind of table I had asked for seemed too much bother.
One of the few places that keeps improving with age. Food is always great for dinner and for lunch. The live music is a treat. One of the best steak tartare in town. Great scallops (both seviche and cooked) and tuna. You can either hangout at their bar or get a more private table.
Our office of six had lunch there after a visit to the ICA, and it was outstanding. Dishes included the steak frites, the mushroom risotto (not seasonal; I wondered about butternut squash in early August but I really wanted it and it was delish), salmon salad, steak salad, cheese plate (yum!), sorbet, and chocolate cookie. The dessert menu really, really needs more chocolate; that was our only complaint. Great staff, and and when I inquired of the person pouring water whether they had lemonade, she brought one right away though I'd just been hoping she'd say "yes" and that I'd order from the waiter - who was really professional.
