Great food. Service can be little better. Liked the live jazz music.
Five gals were there to celebrate a birthday, and we had a lovely and fun night. Our waiter was very accommodating and did not rush us at all. The food was exceptional, and the jazz combo was top notch. The crowd was very friendly and joined in the birthday song. A first rate evening all around.
Food was very good overall. Interesting menu and plenty of choices. Oysters were perfectly shucked and very cold. Main meals were very good as well. Service was adequate but definitely nothing special. A good experience overall.
Service was subpar; the food was fine.
We went there to celebrate a family event. We wanted live music and therefore we choose the location. The music was very good (jazz), not too loud, just perfect for dinner. The band was on an elevated platform which was great as everybody could see them. The waiter was attentive and responsive. The selection on the menu was mouthwatering and our choices were all very good (smallish portions, but not too small, and acceptably priced). Presentation of food was very nice. Wine selection was quite extensive with a large choice of quite unusual not too pricey wines from around the world (there is also a special and expensive wine list that we did not consult). Overall, a good experience in terms of food, and the live music makes it a special venue.
Service ok, a bit slow. The Food in general was a bit too sweet for my taste.
excellent menu and excellent service. we like French cooking and we were not disappointed.
My wife and I went here for NYE 1yr ago and loved it. I tried to make a reservation a week before V-Day. I was excited to see slots available but there was an technical error on completing it through OT. I called the restaurant immediately to assure I would get a table and make the reservation over the phone. The hostess tells me that only a manager can take the reservation and she will have the manager call me back to do so. I left my contact info and I never received a call back. I only remembered this due to a friend asking me 2 days before Valentine’s Day what me and my wife were doing. I went back to open table to see the preferred time was still available and completed the reservation with credit card info as requested. This was going to be the first night out with my wife as we are newly weds and new parents to a 4 week newborn. I put this information in the notes along with the request of starting with champagne and to sit closer to the entertainment. When we arrived the ambiance of the entertainment was as expected. The hostess takes us to the back of the restaurant to our table far from the entertainment. We could only hear the live music with no view of the entertainment. I asked the hostess before we sat if there was any other option and she said no. The place was busy as it should be for V-Day and we were flanked by couples. We noticed that there was no food on either table next to us for about 15 minutes. Food arrived at the neighboring tables staggered about 20 minutes of us being seated. They each were on first courses of the Prix Fixe menu we noticed. At this time 30 minutes of being seated and only water has been poured once at our table and my wife has finished her glass of water. We haven’t seen the waiter or have an idea of who the waiter could be. Almost 40 minutes of no one acknowledging we were there we left. Not even a manager available to mention this to was available. They didn’t accommodate or request. Nice place but not going back.
Very disappointed with the quality of service. Sat for 30 minutes before being greeted by the server, and two hours before getting our main course. The server never checked in with us, and we wanted to buy more drinks in addition to the wine pairing package but couldn’t get his attention. The food was fine, but not good enough to make up for the bad service, and definitely not worth spending $300 for two people. Unlikely to return.
Went for Valentine's Day and theyhad a Prix Fixe menu. Service was very poor considering the menu was set. Multiple other tables nearby had the same issue. Service was slow, they seemed to ignore our courses and had run out of an appetizer for other diners. They were inattentive and it took over 3 hours to eat a simple meal. I honestly would not go there again.
The violets in my salad made the most extraordinary presentation. It was a Valentines dinner to remember. We’re already planning to go back next year. And a discounted prices on excellent Champaign made the night and even more special
We loved the experience at the restaurant; it was fantastic in every way - 5 out of 5 in every category. It is definitely a bistro atmosphere, yet still intimate. Food was really terrific and they modified a dish for my preference. Great entertainment with Steve Heck, really enjoyed his singing and piano playing. I'm sure we'll be back, and anyone reading this review should definitely go! Not far from the theater district and South Station.
The truffle lobster Mac and cheese is a must get!
The food was dynamite. We both had steak. Vegetables and sides were great, too! We were both pleased with our choices. From what I could gather, the restaurant is split into two sides. I think we got the "B" team side. Service was extremely slow and the server was not attentive. There was no live music and the ambiance was meh. I think the live music might have been on the "A" team side of the restaurant. We had a corner table surrounded by two large parties that were loud...which is fine...it was their parties! It was just awkward for us being a party of two being surrounded by these groups.
My fiancé and I celebrated our anniversary and early Valentine’s Day here Saturday night. The food was incredible! French food and something for every taste. The wine was delicious, and we were able to listen to the phenomenal Yoko Miwa jazz trio who are there every Saturday night. We stayed hours later than we anticipated (and skipped seeing a movie as we'd planned!) bc they and the ambiance were so amazing. The vibe was perfectly romantic and fun! Exactly what we were hoping for, and we will definitely be back!
We sat on the live music side of the restaurant and enjoyed jazz piano while we dined. The food was delicious and atmosphere lively but mellow. A+
It is one of my go to lunch places. Everything good.
We came for the wine bar ambience but ended up thinking it was an above average restaurant. The food was presented beautifully but some dishes were less than ideal in preparation, notably the creme brulee, & the use of frozen broccoli. Wait staff was pleasant, music was nice & not too loud.
Solid business lunch spot - the French onion soup is incredible (especially on a cold winter day in Boston). It was quiet and a great environment for a business lunch during the middle of the day. Close to South Station as well.
The restaurant was great. The service was amazing and the food was delicious. The jazz band was delightful. The only complaint I have is about the seating. The tables are too close together. I felt like I was apart of the neighboring table's entire conversation and date.
My husband and I both had an excellent meal from start to finish. There was nothing that didn’t exceed expectations, including and especially the service! We had a lovely date and would recommend highly!
This establishment has been a favorite for many many years. Rediscovered it a few months back...meet my daughter here for dinner, she works down town. Great Food, Music
Im just happy to see the restaurant still thriving thru the tough economy of years past. Ill be back again soon.
Dined at the bar in rear near the entertainment. Great atmosphere with jazz band playing. Great service and food !
We went to the restaurant for the food and also for the music. We had previously visited for a work function and wanted to try it without extra company. Needless to say, we were not disappointed. We have the opportunity to meet the piano player of the house Jazz Trio who was quite engaging. In addition to excellent food, our server Carlos was excellent.
The food was kind of mediocre. Ordered some brussel sprouts (which were good!) with our main course, but they came out 5 minutes ahead of Entrees. The Steak Frites were drenched in a sauce that was pretty bad, made the Spinach inedible and make me cut the steak on my butter plate to try and shake off some of the sauce. The fries were ok. The Lamb Shank looked better and the bartender was great.
The Yoko Miwa Trio is always a treat. Great food, great music, great atmosphere. I really enjoy Les Zygomates.
Delicious food and excellent, attentive service
We were celebrating our 32nd anniversary with our adult sons and this was the perfect choice. They started the celebration with 4 glasses of sparkling and seating in the jazz section so we were able to request songs including the one we danced to 32 years ago Stars Fell on Alabama. The waitstaff is exceptional and Carlos was perfect. Our appetizers were delish including the charcuterie board the baked brie and the escargot...we were permitted to have a very leisurely time enjoying the music over our cocktails. Dinner was also very good the steak frites was perfect and so was the butternut squash ravioli , scallops and duck breast. we were too full to order any dessert but I would anticipate it to be as delightful as the rest of the meal.
Food, service, and music simply superb. The ambiance was great for a upscale first date.
