The food and service were outstanding. The noise level was oppressive.
This was a great meal. Appetizers and main dishes were superb. I can't wait to back. Took a business associate from our of town and they were very impressed
The best waitress, the best food, plated perfectly, a feast for the mouth and eyes. I loved bread and butter- perfection, the frizee salad, the Atlantic cod wrapped in prosciutto, the brined pork chop and the out of the ballpark profiteroles. I will be dreaming of all the flavors and accompaniments for sure and absolutely can’t wait to come back. The chef is a talented genius, the wait staff is all part of the love that creates this amazing dining experience. If I could change one thing, I would make it a bit more quiet. Brava!
Lovely staff very attentive professional and friendly
This was the best experience for a birthday dinner for my girlfriend I could have asked for. They gave us (in my opinion) the best table in the house. The band that played high up on a small stage in the corner was talented and the perfect volume. Wonderful server and staff, delicious food. The escargot was some of the best I’ve ever had. The duck and salmon were also perfection. Both came on very large plates, so they looked like small dishes, yet unexpected filled us completely! All around, a wonderful night we will remember for a long time.
Great wine selection and phenomenal ever changing food selections. Boston at its best.
Have been coming back to les Zyg for over past 25 years
always great this visit no exception... except mix up on service
smoked duck superb!
wine, Yoko Trio, atmosphere (what"s with the sultry women on display?)
all made for another memorable dinner out in ......Paris ( fifth arrondissemont)
Les Zygomates is a “Must go” French restaurant! The chicken cordon bleu was delicious, Colan was amazing and hilarious, and the wine choices are exceptional. Les Zyg is a bit pricey, but they have an oyster happy hour, also; I love it!
The atmosphere is excellent -warm wood and brick with high ceilings There are two sides of the restaurant. One side is where the music is played on a platform above the audience. The other side is what is referred to as the "bistro" side, which also contains a bar. There is music six days a week featuring Jazz and Blues.
We sat in lounge section so we could listen to music. The piano player was excellent.
The food was a bit of a disappointment. I ordered the Chicken Cordon Blue and my husband ordered the Berkshire pork chop. Both the chop and the chicken were cooked properly, but the problem was the flavor. The chop was fine, but the sides were bland. The sweet potatoes were not flavorful and the consistency was thin. My chicken lacked flavor- it did not taste like it was marinated, as stated on the menu. The mashed potatoes lacked flavor and the texture was that of prepackaged potatoes. The sauce was just ok. The chicken breast was not stuffed, but placed over the potatoes , with greens on top and a small amount of blue cheese crumbled over the top. there was a small piece of prosciutto on top. For $31.00 (pork) and $28.00 (chicken) we expected everything to be perfect.
We would come back here, but would order off the bar menu. The main focus here is the music and bar scene. It was very lively and the atmosphere on both sides of the restaurant is terrific. Great wine list and cocktails.
One of my favorite wine bars in the city; although it does not call it self that! Between the food and wine it is wonderful. And the staff are very good about pairing both!
Salad and dinner were really tasty. Dessert was just ok.
The food was superb, everyone very attentive and kind, well informed. The decor leaves something to be desired as it suggests a brothel with poor taste: all sentimental pictures of young nubile women with alluring facial expressions.
I have had great food at Les Zygomates (e.g., always the cadsoulet in winter and a lamb tangine); this time, I would say was somewhat disappointing. We tried the cod in prosciutto and white beans which was good and the salmon over lentils which was entirely uninspiring and thus a disappointment. The steak tartare could have used some more zest and was served with an overly salty potato chip.
Food wasn't too bad. It just seemed to take forever to get our orders and requests delivered to the table. Service including table bread, drinks, appetizers, entrees, dessert, seemed particularly slow the night we were there. We were seated at 7:50pm. Our entrees came in at about 9:30pm. On the other hand the live jazz music was fantastic!
Javier , our waiter has been there for decades and always ensures we make the best decisions
The restaurant is lively and friendly, like a Parisian bistro. The food is phenomenal and our server helped us pair just the right wine with our dinner. We sat on the jazz side and enjoyed a wonderful pianist. A jazz trio was setting up as we were leaving (we would have stayed at the bar to listen but we are no longer spring chickens... had to mosey home!). We’ve been enjoying this place for more than 20 years and it just keeps getting better!
Great service and wonderful food!!!!
This is a cool place with two separate environments to choose from; one with live music and one without. All the same services and menus are available on both sides, which is what I think is particularly unique about this place. I sat on the music side and found it to be enjoyable rather than overpowering, like live music in restaurants can so often be. The service was very good and the employees all seemed pleasant, and the food options were varied enough for everyone to find something to enjoy.
Love the food, service, and ambiance. Great music from the Yoko Miwa Trio.
All good- atmosphere, service, food, music.
Friendly helpful and courteous staff, excellent coffee and good lunch !
We visited on Saturday evening. We had an 8pm reservation. When we arrived at 7:30 the place was empty. We considered leaving but decided to have a drink first. As we sipped on our cocktails the bar, we asked the bartender why it was so quiet. We told him we heard there would be jazz music. He then said ...oh you mean our wine bar. He directed to the other side of the restaurant. This was more lively but not overly full. It was a much better atmosphere.
When it was time for dinner we were seated in the back room. This was far enough away from the band but still good.
The waitress was so over worked that she never came to us for over 10 min. We ordered an appetizer and waited a long time for it to arrive. When it showed up it was the wrong thing. Back it went, and another 10-12 minute wait for us. I ordered the lobster Mac and cheese for dinner. This also took a long time to come. Don't waste your money. There was NO LOBSTER in it. The waitress did not come by to ask how our meal was so I couldn't even tell her until it was too late to return it. The manager came over and apologized and took that meal off our bill.
This place needs to do a lot of training around customer service. Their website is really bad too.
We won't bother again.
We like the music options and wine tastings. Our waiter was disappointing. After telling us the specials (and started to repeat them later, having forgot he already told them to us) he didn't take our drink order. When he finally took it, it took forever for them to be delivered (even though at that point the restaurant was about 1/2 full in the music room and completely empty in the other room.) We had to call him over to order food and again for wine!!
Everything was great except the live music which was way way way too loud. You had to scream to be heard when talking to people standing a foot away. The music/musicians were nice but became so overwhelming it was more annoying than pleasant at the end. I would suggest figuring out how to lower the volume significantly
Really awesome experience. The food was amazing! The pianist was very good as well. The perfect vibe for a nice dinner for two.
We had 48 oysters that day, which shocked our waiter a lot;D
All the oysters were fresh, mild in salt with a cuke note. I was surprised because most of the east coast oysters I've had are salty and briny. Also their cocktail sauce was tasty and went very well with oysters.
Les Zygomates never disappoints. Great food, excellent service. It offers a gracious dining experience in a city where one often feels overwhelmed by noise and rushed.
Such a great venue, My husband and I cannot wait to go back...really great and amazing staff and talented entertainment!
WE went to Les Zygomates for my wife's birthday. Les Zygomates never fails to give great service, food and music. The ambiance in the room is warm and cozy and the acoustics are very good. WE had a great time.
This was my first experience here and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The menu was varied and interesting with lots of creativity. The atmosphere was wonderful and our server took good care of us. The prices were a little high, but what do you expect in Boston? Overall, very happy and would go again.
I remembered the great wine-by-the-glass list from when I visited Les Zygomates years ago but I didn’t remember how great the food was! The mushroom and egg appetizer was great for mushroom lovers, the onion soup was sweet and lovely, and the duck breast was perhaps the best I’ve ever had, cold smoked and then cooked so that the crispy outside was almost like bacon and the inside very tender. My companion’s steak was very tasty as well.
I am a former Bostonian and fan of Les Zygomates (but I haven’t had the chance to dine there in probably a decade). It’s so nice to know that the caliber of food and service has remained intact. It was nice to introduce my colleague to the space & it definitely helped satisfy my craving for escargot. Thank you!
The food was outstanding and the atmosphere sublime! Conveniently located near South Station, Les Zygomates gives you a dining experience you won't soon forget. The food was fresh and made to order (the calamari was the best I have had in a long time), the wait staff attentive and knowledgable. Paired with the perfect music and wine, this restaurant left quite a wonderful impression. This is the perfect place for a first date, meeting up with friends after work or a special occasion. Make sure to ask to be seated in the 'music room' if you want to observe the live band. I will definitely visit again soon!
Muy cómodo como estar en casa, buen ambiente, volveria sin dudas, todos muy atentos y sonrientes
Such a lovely spot. The restaurant is well laid out and the jazz is great! The food was okay- but too salty. The staff overall were excellent (maitre d’ in particular). But please tell your wait staff to not drop off the check when guests are still eating.
Loved everything except the service was very slow and the waiter could have paid much more attention
It was sadly a little underwhelming. I know servers and restaurants can have bad nights, but most of the evening was spent on us waiting around for someone to come to our table, to take our order, and to give us the check. Our server and a poor attitude and for a Friday night seemed understaffed. The food was good, but unlike every table around us, no bread was brought to our table and my dry martini had way too much vermouth. Overall, it was okay but a little disappointing. Probably will not go back :(
Excellent service and food. Thank you very much.
Everything was excellent. We sat right next to the band and loved it. The food was great and the service was good. Recommend the place.
