Really poor experience, had such a great hype. We waited over 45 minutes for reservation (8:15) got seated just after 9p. Took another 15-20 minutes to get menus and even water for that matter. Two groups with 830 reservations got seated before us. And each group did not respect the proper dress code, they were given jackets out of a back room. It was so obvious one was a critic, and the hostess went above and beyond for this slob while disregarding their other paying guests. Playing favorites in front of your guests will not result in a return for us!
Food was good. Although the shouting of orders from the upstairs kitchen was anything but romantic. Def can cross this one of the list and would NOT recommend to others. Snobby, pretentious, and not that great!
The service was beyond the realms of this world I honestly can’t even begin to describe they really rocked my world.
We have been to many 1 and 2 Star Michelin restaurants and this surpasses a few of them! Highly recommend for a nice romantic date night. The wine list from France is top notch as well! True fine dining fresh food.
An excellent place to eat BEST French food around Fabulous presentation Excellent service Its a must!@!
Exquisite! The room was nicely filled with quiet fellow diners and every detail of the food, wine and presentation was flawless. Can’t wait to return.
This is simply the best French restaurant in United States. In a league of its own. I have been coming here for years and it is clearly a lifelong affair. Merci!
Disappointing after our previous visit. Seems like they aren’t going to be in business long. Only two other tables during the two hours we were there. The service was impeccable however. Some of the food was great and some wasn’t cooked to the level the price on the menu dictated. Very sad, I hope they can modernize their menu and get back in the game.
Meal was superior as always. I usually do not eat four course meals, but at Les Nomades it is required. It would be nice to eliminate dessert.
I enjoyed my chocolate tart praline with chocolate sorbet my husband enjoyed his raspberry souffle . It was nice to get away from the kids noise and enjoy a romantic atmosphere with fine dining good cuisine relaxing atmosphere. This is not you all you can eat buffet ,family style, this is fine dining. And I truly wish there were more restaurants like this around. If you are looking for a restaurant to sit back relax and have good French cuisine fine dining this is the place for you. I didn't need brand new whatever things are coming out with now I was looking forward to something traditional yummy authentic to be spoiled and I was. You may find older people in this restaurant but I'm young and I enjoyed it very much. Yes this restaurant is a little pricey but it was worth it . And I drink soda with my meal because I do not drink wine or any alcohol . And I was not made to feel like I needed to have wine with my meal at all. The service was great from the minute I walked in to the minute I walked out.
The food is excellent. It’s not faddish and to me that’s a plus. Offerings include sweetbreads, breast of duck and inventively prepared fish. Mind-boggling desserts. To say the wine list is deep is an understatement.
This was our first time at this restaurant. It was FABULOUS! My wife and I had a romantic dinner taking time out of our busy lives to just relax. We tried some new foods: sweet breads (delicious) homemade pate (yum). We tried some premier wines for a treat. Our waiter was kind and helpful to us in choosing our courses. We finished our meal satisfied yet not overstuffed. We loved the intimate atmosphere and the choice of music : soft guitar. It was a perfect evening! Thanks to the staff who made it a wonderful experience!
If you want classic elegant dining, Les Nomades is probably the best in Chicago ... But the best in classic elegance doesn't come cheaply.
Romantic. Delicious. Enough said
After a hiatus of too many years, we returned after asking ourselves, “What was our best Chicago food experience?” Our memory did not fail us—Les Nomades is a treasure. Impeccable service presented flawlessly prepared classic dishes with Chef’s own modern flair. Escargots, sweetbreads, veal, menu standards, were paired with unexpected sauces and accompaniments. A good selection of half bottle wines affords opportunity for fish and flesh connoisseurs to be well-satisfied.
Les Nomades was recommended to us by friends in Indianapolis, and we said we would try it the next time we were in Chicago. WOW - it exceeded our expectations. Cozy setting with a wood-burning fireplace, exceptional food (asparagus risotto, king crab salad, short rib, flourless chocolate cake), outstanding wine pairings and fabulous service. We will definitely be back!
This was our first time here, and we will return!
Quiet, comfortable atmosphere, and the service staff absolutely fantastic.
Food was great.
Incredible food and superb service.
Remains one of Chicago’s finest . The food and service are simply excellent. The service is attentive but not pretentious. It is pricey but worth it if you desire a dining experience rather than simply a meal.
This traditional French restaurant is a welcome relief from the abundance of trendy small plate places. Over the decades Les Nomades has maintained high standards of food and service in a quiet, sophisticated setting. Please consider giving them your business.
Food, service, and ambiance were superb. We had a very nice time. We hope to visit again in the future.
What a terrific dinner. The service was only eclipsed by the quality of the food. From the amuse bouche clear through to the souflet for dessert, it all was wonderful. Even the per course wine pairings chosen for us were excellent selections that matched up perfectly to our tastes and the food selections.
Consistently great
Had dinner there for our anniversary. Everything was spectacular. The service was impeccable. And the food was outstanding. Rave reviews for a phenomenal restaurant. Thank you
Start to finish perfection!
We have celebrated a number of anniversaries at Les Nomades and we have never been disappointed. The service is impeccable from the moment you walk in the door. Wine suggestions were excellent. Everything had so much flavor. THANK YOU!
Classic French cuisine. Roland is a master saucier! Food and service always spot on. One of the best restaurants in town and highly recommended!
G&R
My husband and I dined here for our anniversary. The cuisine and service were both outstanding, and we appreciated that the dining room was very quiet. An elegant setting for a special night out. We would definitely return!
If you are 35 and under this place is not for you.
One of the 5 top French Haute Cuisine restaurants in the U. S.
A culinary tour de force.
Wonderful experience. Impeccable service. Delicious fine dining. Will be back!
Excellent, unpretentious, classical european dinning. We loved it and the bar area with the wood burning fireplace for cocktails is perfect. Felt like we were back in Europe.
The food is very good. It just lacks that little bit extra spice/flavor to make it truly outstanding. Having said that the sweetbread and beef was truly outstanding. Wine list is excellent and the service outstanding. Prices are very reasonable given the quality so it overall highly recommended.
I can’t recommend this place, extremely disappointing. Food was less than average, low quality and way over-priced. The restaurant is old, quaint and sleepy. Average age of patrons seems to be 65 plus which is likely how this place has so many 5-star reviews. The patrons seem to be regulars / return patrons that dine here. Definitely a good place to go once your tastebuds and smell receptors stop working as all the dishes lacked flavor, complexity and impact. Nice people that own / work here. However I paid $600 for a disappointing tasting menu, dessert and 1/2 bottle of wine. There are so many alternative high end French (and non-French) restaurants in Chicago that are fantastic, this isn’t even close to being on the list. One of the few times I’ve been to a restaurant and up ended disappointed because of the disparity in price vs. the food and experience.
Not sure where to begin - - - - exceptional, outstanding, amazing! The food was perfectly prepared. The service was spot on. The ambiance was romantic and cozy. Over the top quality and experience. Really enjoyed everything about this new favorite!!! First time enjoying the great restaurant! Expensive, but what a treat!!
Magnificent as usual. French at it’s best. Enjoy the experience every time.
Wonderful! Very expensive, but worth the price
The food was excellent and the service was as well. I had been here once before and was equally impressed. It is not inexpensive but worth the $$ for a special occasion. The only suggestion I can make is that some of the decor is a bit dated for a restaurant of this caliber
My wife and I returned to Les Nomades to celebrate our anniversary. We had another fantastic evening. Food continued to meet my HIGH expectations - hard to chose best dishes between my seared foie gras, wild mushroom soup with truffle foam and duo of veal and sweetbreads - guess I’ll have to go with the amazing soufflé! Service and ambience were also refined and engaging.
The food was exquisite; service was attentive; and the ambience was perfect for our special occasion
We've been dining here for years, it's always been a treat for us, and it's never once disappointed. The team here at Les Nomades are at the top of their game - they set the bar for all facets of excellence. VERY highly recommended.
