About Les Halles Park Avenue
Even among the plethora of dining options in New York City, Les Halles on Park Avenue stands out from the rest. The rich mahogany, warm colors and French decor match beautifully with this Parisian brasserie-style restaurant. This restaurant is known for two things. The first are Les Halles' cuts of meat. French butchering and wet aging make the meat delicious and tender. The second are the award-winning French fries.
The menu at Les Halles is extensive, pleasing most anyone's palate whether it's for lunch or dinner. Opt for a signature steak such as the faux-filet Bercy, or branch out and try coq au vin, rooster cooked in wine and bacon. Pair the meal with a selection of vintage wine and finish with a tarte, flambée or sorbet.

Les Halles Park Avenue - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
There's no real service here. Our waitress clearly was just there to write down our order and move on. We were never asked how the food was during our meal. My steak was overcooked and just bland. I think the restaurant was busy from tourists who read 'kitchen confidential', like myself. I wanted this to be a great experience but it was a let down.
Recently dined at this restaurant. The food was great, the selection was great as well. As we are Canadians, when you calculate the exchange rate, the dinner is more in the price range of a fancy Toronto restaurant, which makes it more pricey than usual. However, I have noticed that most good New York restaurants are pricey. I would still return since the food and service were very good. Service and seating was prompt.
Love this restaurant but last night the server was pushing our meal--- we were only there for just over an hour but he seemed to really want to flip the table. The streaks were good but not hot as usual but the fries were good as always. Will be back as this is one of my favorite restaurants in NYC.
Solid performance with each visit. Excellent menu of bistro favorites. Service very good. Tables side preparation of classics: steak tartare, bananas foster and crepes Suzette. Not many places where you can still get that kind of service and theater. Highly recommended.
Went on a Friday evening as a party of four. The waitress was in training and very inexperienced. She did not put in one of our appetizer orders, forgot the wine which we requested be served with the entrees, and did not get the side order correct with one of our meals.
The food itself was good, but nothing special. We were seated right next to a large group of men who were loud to the point of us not being able to hear what another person at our table was saying.
On the plus side, the Crepes Suzette, which are prepared table side, were very tasty and a highlight of the meal.
Food was great - steak tartare excellent as was the chacouterie plate. Meal however was rushed - staff was quick to remove plates and bring the next course. You could tell they wanted to turn over the table for the next customer. Tables are also packed in which makes it difficult for the wait staff and the customers they have to squeeze around.
I thought the food was great but felt like I was being rushed through. I had only sat down and ordered a glass of wine when another waiter asked me if I was ready to order, I hadn't even recieved the menu yet !!!! Then as the evening progressed I felt like I was being rushed through each course. I was eating alone and probably taking up the space of two people so maybe if you guys set out a couple of tables for single diners would be a good idea???? This was my first time in New York and I will visit again and will probably come back to eat here again but not on my own.
Every meal I have had here has been outstanding. The staff is very attentive and friendly and the decor of the restaurant makes you feel like you are in Paris. We shared a bottle of wine, a salad (blue cheese, arugula, and walnuts), The sirloin with red wine compound butter, the mussels Normande, and the Crepes Suzette. Each dish was amazing and Les Halles does in fact make the best french fries I have ever eaten.
We had Les Halles at the top of our list when visiting New York based on friends reviews and peeking at the menu online. The experience was nothing short of perfect. Our server Brad was incredible; he was the perfect combination of professional, friendly, and comical. I didn't see a "bad" table in the house, and the atmosphere was upbeat, warm, and lively. The cocktails were refreshing, and the cuisine incredible. We especially enjoyed the beef tartare table side, both because of the Brad, the excitement, and the amazing flavors of the dish. We will definitely be visiting again!
The place has great charm, the staff are marvelous, the steaks are clean-tasting & juicy. But at 5:30, when there were few diners, the techno beat was amped up, as if to fill the empty spaces. For all its virtues, not the place for anyone who wants to have a conversation without shouting.
We arrived early for our reservation and were seated immediately. Food was excellent. Prepared as ordered. Service was also excellent. The server made some recommendations and was very patient. My friend and I were there for quite awhile and never seemed rushed.
As French Bistros go, Les Halles was a little disappointing. having eaten in a few dozen bistros in Paris and throughout France, I was hopeful that Les Halles would make the grade. I was in the mood for and ordered a fairly typical bistro menu. Onion soup gratin, hanger steak & frites, a house recommended merlot and a bottle of sparling water. The onion soup was well prepared, (not too salty which is often a problem) but there were a couple of errant onion skins. The hanger steak was cooked to order (medium rare) with a great meaty taste but one end of it was quite tough with sinew and inedible. The frites were quite good. The merlot was served in a small glass probably only about 3 oz . The sparkling water a 25 oz bottle for $8.00! The waiter was attentive and friendly.
What an amazing evening and fantastic meal at this wonderful restaurant! The menu, service and food were all beyond expectations. We had emailed ahead that it was my son's birthday and that he was an aspiring chef .... Mr. Flowers took extra care to create a special experience for him that will be a lasting memory for years to come. A really, great place!!
Excellent French brasserie food and service. Our party of 4 had an early Saturday night reservation (6:30 pm), arriving from an afternoon comedy show in NoHo. At our request, we were seated in a very quiet area off the main dining room, close to the sidewalk on Park Avenue South. This was a perfect place to enjoy dinner and conversation with our friends. (The main dining room was very loud on a Saturday night.) Appetizers were frisee salad and onion soup. Entrees were steak frites and salmon with a delicious citrus leek sauce and roasted fingerling potatoes. We shared chocolate mousse and profiteroles for dessert. Everything was prepared and served perfectly. The lovely dining experience made me homesick for Paris.
Les Halles is one of my favorite restaurants in NYC. The quality of the food has been very consistent over the last 5 years and the staff is courteous, fun and knowledgable. Seemed to me that the check amount was a little higher than I am used to, but it really depends on what people order and how much alcohol they decide to consume. The hanger steak is always so good there really isn't any reason to order a more expensive cut, but sometimes that is what someone wants. My family asked me where I wanted to go for my birthday and Les Halles was my choice. I was not disappointed. They even put a candle on the macarons for me.
