Even among the plethora of dining options in New York City, Les Halles on Park Avenue stands out from the rest. The rich mahogany, warm colors and French decor match beautifully with this Parisian brasserie-style restaurant. This restaurant is known for two things. The first are Les Halles' cuts of meat. French butchering and wet aging make the meat delicious and tender. The second are the award-winning French fries. The menu at Les Halles is extensive, pleasing most anyone's palate whether it's for lunch or dinner. Opt for a signature steak such as the faux-filet Bercy, or branch out and try coq au vin, rooster cooked in wine and bacon. Pair the meal with a selection of vintage wine and finish with a tarte, flambée or sorbet.

Excellent French brasserie food and service. Our party of 4 had an early Saturday night reservation (6:30 pm), arriving from an afternoon comedy show in NoHo. At our request, we were seated in a very quiet area off the main dining room, close to the sidewalk on Park Avenue South. This was a perfect place to enjoy dinner and conversation with our friends. (The main dining room was very loud on a Saturday night.) Appetizers were frisee salad and onion soup. Entrees were steak frites and salmon with a delicious citrus leek sauce and roasted fingerling potatoes. We shared chocolate mousse and profiteroles for dessert. Everything was prepared and served perfectly. The lovely dining experience made me homesick for Paris.

Les Halles is one of my favorite restaurants in NYC. The quality of the food has been very consistent over the last 5 years and the staff is courteous, fun and knowledgable. Seemed to me that the check amount was a little higher than I am used to, but it really depends on what people order and how much alcohol they decide to consume. The hanger steak is always so good there really isn't any reason to order a more expensive cut, but sometimes that is what someone wants. My family asked me where I wanted to go for my birthday and Les Halles was my choice. I was not disappointed. They even put a candle on the macarons for me.

My college friends and I have been meeting here annually for dinner for about 10 years. We love the ambiance and that we can get our special table every year. The wait staff is always wonderful and the steaks delicious!

Food was poor - steaks were very tough. Lacked atmosphere. Overall, not as good as it used to be.

Had a great meal Friday night. From the Oysters for a buck to the steak tartar. A really good value for a restaurant on Park Avenue. This was out third time there. We will be back again.

The food was good (mussels seemed to have been popular as several tables ordered it too). My party enjoyed our desserts (apple tart, chocolate mousse, creme brulee). Service was indifferent and slow during the whole course.. Except when it came to the bill. Probably about 10 mins after our desserts arrived, so did our bill. Needless to say, for a place that was half full, they wanted us to clear the tables quickly. Won't be back for awhile.

Sad and disappointing, the worst of my NYC restaurant week meals. Not worth $25 at all, it felt like an $18 lunch, at best. I haven't been to Les Halles in a long time and remember that it used to define French bistro cuisine. Its definitely seen better days. The decor and ambience felt just poorly outdated and the food was really mediocre.
