Great steaks.

Excellent food and very friendly service.

You feel transported back into the French 1950s, true delight.

Wine was ok - we ordered by the glass, would recommend ordering by the bottle instead.

Will definitely go back

There's no real service here. Our waitress clearly was just there to write down our order and move on. We were never asked how the food was during our meal. My steak was overcooked and just bland. I think the restaurant was busy from tourists who read 'kitchen confidential', like myself. I wanted this to be a great experience but it was a let down.

Recently dined at this restaurant. The food was great, the selection was great as well. As we are Canadians, when you calculate the exchange rate, the dinner is more in the price range of a fancy Toronto restaurant, which makes it more pricey than usual. However, I have noticed that most good New York restaurants are pricey. I would still return since the food and service were very good. Service and seating was prompt.

Love this restaurant but last night the server was pushing our meal--- we were only there for just over an hour but he seemed to really want to flip the table. The streaks were good but not hot as usual but the fries were good as always. Will be back as this is one of my favorite restaurants in NYC.

Solid performance with each visit. Excellent menu of bistro favorites. Service very good. Tables side preparation of classics: steak tartare, bananas foster and crepes Suzette. Not many places where you can still get that kind of service and theater. Highly recommended.

Scallop and the steak sub povie were delicious, as were the escargots. Be sure to try the freshly made mayo and truffle oil with the French fries!

Went on a Friday evening as a party of four. The waitress was in training and very inexperienced. She did not put in one of our appetizer orders, forgot the wine which we requested be served with the entrees, and did not get the side order correct with one of our meals.

The food itself was good, but nothing special. We were seated right next to a large group of men who were loud to the point of us not being able to hear what another person at our table was saying.

On the plus side, the Crepes Suzette, which are prepared table side, were very tasty and a highlight of the meal.

Good food and atmosphere. Mussels with fries were wonderful. Waiter miscommunicated the wine special so our bill was higher than expected. We questioned it and the rightly corrected the charge.

The steak is to die for here and I would
Say that's it's the best steak for the money ever.
If I do not visit Les Halles at least twice in a five day stay I am disappointed.

Food was great - steak tartare excellent as was the chacouterie plate. Meal however was rushed - staff was quick to remove plates and bring the next course. You could tell they wanted to turn over the table for the next customer. Tables are also packed in which makes it difficult for the wait staff and the customers they have to squeeze around.

I thought the food was great but felt like I was being rushed through. I had only sat down and ordered a glass of wine when another waiter asked me if I was ready to order, I hadn't even recieved the menu yet !!!! Then as the evening progressed I felt like I was being rushed through each course. I was eating alone and probably taking up the space of two people so maybe if you guys set out a couple of tables for single diners would be a good idea???? This was my first time in New York and I will visit again and will probably come back to eat here again but not on my own.

Every meal I have had here has been outstanding. The staff is very attentive and friendly and the decor of the restaurant makes you feel like you are in Paris. We shared a bottle of wine, a salad (blue cheese, arugula, and walnuts), The sirloin with red wine compound butter, the mussels Normande, and the Crepes Suzette. Each dish was amazing and Les Halles does in fact make the best french fries I have ever eaten.

We sat for 20 mins among a couple unbussed tables, put on our coats and quietly and without complaint went elsewhere. Having lived in the neighborhood for almost 20 years it would finally appear this place is done. Too bad.

We had Les Halles at the top of our list when visiting New York based on friends reviews and peeking at the menu online. The experience was nothing short of perfect. Our server Brad was incredible; he was the perfect combination of professional, friendly, and comical. I didn't see a "bad" table in the house, and the atmosphere was upbeat, warm, and lively. The cocktails were refreshing, and the cuisine incredible. We especially enjoyed the beef tartare table side, both because of the Brad, the excitement, and the amazing flavors of the dish. We will definitely be visiting again!
