Les Folies Brasserie Ratings and Reviews
Exquisite food. Wonderful menu selections. Appetizers lovely. Desserts home made and really tasty. Elegant settling. Only downside for us was the waiter. He seemed preoccupied and not personally interested in us. Moderately friendly. B minus for the Waiter, alhto the service was B plus.
If you can't get to Paris for dinner anytime soon, Les Follies may be your next best option. Classic French cuisine is impeccably prepared and thoughtfully served in a charming, Arte Nouveau setting. This little bistro is a neighborhood gem, intimate, romantic and perfect for a special occasion.
We have enjoyed meals at Les Folies many times. My husband and I have eaten dinner on New year's Eve for many years. We enjoy going earlier before parties begin. A quiet dinner is what we desire on New Year's. The food was delicious and our server was very attentive.
We went here for my husbands birthday...his choice. It was our 1st time. We had a 6pm dinner reservation on a Saturday, but it wasn't crowded at all. The waitress was very attentive and helpful and was knowledgeable about the menu items. We had escargot and calamari which was pretty good. I had crab cakes which I did not love, but they were ok. My husband enjoyed his duck and our older daughter enjoyed veal. Our younger daughter didn't love the beef tenderloins, but she said it was ok. I had a french martini recommended by the waitress, which was delicious...I had 2. The bread pudding was good, creme brule was just ok and the apple tart was ok.
our middle school daughter started French lessons and has been asking to be taken to a "fancy French restaurant" we decided that lunch here would be part of her Christmas present. She passed on the French inspired fare, (not us) but we all had amazing meals. DH and I will be back for a romantic dinner on date night soon.
Waiter carried between rudely arrogant and cold. When I asked about preparation of beef Wellington, he quipped that they had been practicing and knew how to prepare it. When it arrvied, it was still refrigerator cold inside. He had to take it to be repeated but no apology, and thereafter was curt. Food was adequate but nothing special. Wine list was expensive and not impressive.
My daughter and I have always enjoyed Les Folies for special occasions over the years. This past Christmas Eve, while our menu selections were wonderful, our server was very obviously wishing she was somewhere else. It took her nearly 15 minutes to take our wine order, and then it was at least half an hour until another server brought the bottle to the table, opened and poured. Our server had walked by many times with individual cups of coffee to nearby tables, without even acknowledging us still patiently waiting. Our apps and entrees met our high expectations, however, we did not see our server throughout, and so did not feel inclined to order dessert or coffee, as we always have in the past. Payment was made using cash and a Visa Gift Card. She brought back the gift card , thinking it was a credit card and kept asking how much I wanted to charge on it. I explained twice, that it was a Gift Card , counted it out for her, inlcluding her tip. At this point, my daughter and I figured she had been celebrating early. It was annoying and took too much time. She was unapologetic at any point in the evening.
We left feeling very disappointed.
Food and service were great. The place is overpriced, but the ambience is very nice. However, I told the restaurant in advance, TWICE, that we would be celebrating a birthday. Having been assured, TWICE, that it would be taken care of, turns out it was not. The birthday was ignored and forgotten. When brought to the manager's attention, he sent a slice of chocolate truffle to the table. A charge of $8.50 was added to the bill to cover the chocolate truffle. Pretty shabby treatment from a supposedly high-end restaurant.
We enjoyed the meal and atmosphere a lot. A bit different because you need to ask for your check when you're ready to leave. They don't give it to you - they let you relax as long as you want. Food was good - a tad more expensive than the Google places rating, but it was very well prepared - and you can access the menus online so it was no surprise.
Get the Escargot. So good.
Les Folies can be relied on for excellent food and pleasant professional service. In addition to the regular menu, there are usually a few specials offered. We enjoyed fresh anchovies with small fingerling potatoes and Dover sole on our last visit. The wine list is reasonably priced.
One of the iconic restaurants in the area, but more importantly a great place to have a fine meal with impeccable food and incredible wine! I have dined there for 25 years and Les Folies is one of the most reliable fine dining establishments in Annapolis and the surrounding area.
Once again we had a first class dinner at Les Folies! It being a Monday night only a few tables were busy so we almost had a waitress to ourselves. My lamb chops were cooked perfectly, but the winner of the evening was the bouillabaisse that two members of our party ordered. The green salad appetizer was excellent as well, as was the Caesar salad. We finished with Good cups of French coffee and delightful desserts. Always an excellent, authentic, French dining experience!
We had Sunday evening reservations with our family. Appetizers consisted of oysters, calimari, mussels and escargot which were wonderful. The main street courses were rack of lamb, steak friet and Dover sole which was filleted table-side. The meal was enjoyed by all.
Our Server Carol was fabulous as always.
Paulina our other server always goes above and beyond.
The food Amazing!!! The service Impeccable.
The atmosphere romantic, professional and personable.
You are truly made to feel like a guest in this Restraunt.
Highly recommend for any Occassion.
We had a lovely birthday celebration dinner. As we have come to expect, service was attentive without being intrusive, the food was well prepared and very tasty (I had the rack of lamb and the birthday girl had the Dover sole) , and we shared a souffle for dessert. We had the baked mussels before the meal and they were delicious, as well as the vegetable soup which reminded me of some delicious soups that my grandmother made in my youth.
I'd listened to the adds on WNAV in Annapolis and wanted to try French cooking. I saved money to to take my wife out for our 20 year wedding anniversary with high hopes knowing it was not going to be cheap. The bread and water came quick, I had to flag a waiter for a drink after 20 minuets. Overall we felt ignored like we didn't belong . Maybe because we were two and NOT a group. The greeter who was also the bartender was somewhat condescending in how I ordered my martini. The food, what little there was, was tasty but barely warm. I guess this was truly the "French"cuisine experience. I'll take the warm smile and generous portions of an average American restaurant any day. I don't mean to be so picky but when a business tries so hard to get you there and touts it's self as having such a high standards, then it should deliver. I was tempted to share our experience but that would have not been fair hard working employees behind the scene.
