Leo's Oyster Bar
What Insiders Are Saying
Leo's Oyster Bar involves pricey, but tasty seafood in an '80s power yacht come to life. Obviously it's in the Financial District.
Took clients to dinner here and they loved it! The service was perfect! My client is gluten free and diary intolerant- they went over and beyond to help. Really delicious meal and good drinks
Great food, fun atmosphere. Drinks, appetizers were all good. Staff very friendly.
I was in San Francisco for business and wanted to arrange a dinner out for a group of 8 persons of different ages and culinary tastes. Leo’s had been highly recommended by a local, and did not disappoint! We had a great evening and everyone was very complimentary about the creative menu, delicious dishes, attractive atmosphere and engaging servers. A top notch dining experience!
I got food born illness here after my reservation. I think it was the oysters. I am so bummed! I love this place and everything about it- just not a good day for oysters i guess. I will continue to go back and get other things from the menu
The steak was preferred medium rare, but came out more medium well. The server made it right, and now we know for the future to order rare to get medium rare. Otherwise a fantastic experience, I will be back!
The food was so tasty. Ambiance was amazing and the service was outstanding!
This place is incredibly overpriced, but the interior is cute.
I booked it because I heard they had a New York style seafood tower and the photos look cute on Insta. The seafood tower left a lot to be desired. Device was great and ambiance was great but the seafood tower wasn’t even close.
My foodie Dad was visiting from out of town and I wanted to show him where the current state of seafood is at; We were not disappointed. Oysters Eloise were delicious and their "tater tot" was wonderful. I could go back and try so many new things. Dad loved his lobster roll and the crab mac and cheese was tasty. Looking forward to my next visit!
Great Happy hour cocktails and oysters! I like the interior of the place - very cozy and chic. Staff was professional and friendly. Overall, great date night spot.
Best spot for oysters and martinis anywhere.
fabulous food and atmosphere but expensive
The music was too loud, causing everyone to talk loudly - making for a poor ambience.
Service was excellent and the ambiance is above par!
Very fun night at Leo’s - these guys know the business of proper shellfish care - awesome theater. Fantastic service. Bar is very loud - only downside - we chose the raw bar end so it was acceptable.
I loved every single thing about the place, from the food to the spectacular service by our server, Chris. Will definitely be back!
Very aesthetic restaurant, consistently good food - each dish was very delicious. The atmosphere is fun and eclectic. Would come here again.
I was really looking forward to a nice night out with my boyfriend - nice cocktails, great food etc. The evening was a complete disappointment. I had the lobster roll and a salad. The lobster roll was all claw meat - no tail meat and was very grainy and mealy and not a lot of meat. My salad was ok but a little boring. the beets were overcooked and the greens were not very fresh. My boyfriend had the octopus and some oysters. He was not unhappy with his meal but equally did not think it anything special. For the price we expected more. But even worse than the food was our table. It was right at the beginning of the dining room and everyone walking past kept bumping into it. It was also the size of a side table and nowhere near big enough to hold food for two. We had a lovely couple sitting next to us but they were literally right on top of us. there was maybe an inch between the tables so we had no privacy whatsoever. And then there was the issue of extremely loud and off-putting music playing. All in all this was an atrocious experience and one which we payed a pretty penny for. Totally not worth it.
We were sat in the back by a table with a big party, I could only assume it was a group that was hard of hearing because they never stopped yelling, which made it hard to hear anything and lessened the experience.
We had a brilliant time at Leo’s Oyster bar. The food was outstanding with lots of fresh and unique flavours. The waitress was really helpful with her recommendations and she made our meal really special with a few extras as we were celebrating our honeymoon. The decor was also really trendy and fun! If we’re ever in SF again we will definitely come back!
Awful decor; terrible, unbearable noise level; raw bar primarily-no baked or grilled fish.
Excellent seafood, oysters were great along with the crab claws.
One of my favorite restaurants in San Francisco. Arrived at 6:20 for my 6:30 reservations and got seated right away. The dinner lasted 5 glorious hours and we left at 11:30 pm full and happy.
Cocktails of vodka martini, gin gimlet were to die for, specially the 21 seeds hibiscus gapefruit paloma which is new on the menu.
started with the kampachi ceviche and it was fresh and tasty with large pieces of fish.
As always the see food plateau was fresh and delicious filled with different oysters, shrimp and other seafood. We then got a complementary caviar dish which was perfection and salty and tasty and pop in your mouth.
salads, fries, lobster pasta, the amercian wagyu and lobster roll were all to die for. Could not pick a favorite as they were done to perfection.
After 2 bottles of Ruinart Rose, we ordered a beautiful bold bottle of red for our entrees with the help of the knowledgeable sommelier.
To add to our happiness we then ordered desserts, OMG it was instant satisfaction and ended the evening with chocolate espresso martini.
Can't wait to go back and do it all over again. Thank you Leo's Oyster Bar for making it another unforgettable evening for us. See you soon.
Delicious food, great service, and super cute décor! GM Stefan and staff went above and beyond
Excellent as usual.
Do not sit in the back room. Deadly feel, dark, and slow service.
This place is incredible. Best oysters in SF in my opinion.
Great service , very nice experience
It was my first time at Leo’s and I wanted to do something special for my boyfriend because I had a surprise announcement. They sat us in the corner I requested and helped make my surprise extra special. I seriously will never forget the kindness of this restaurant. Thank you so much for everything from the attention to detail and service to the delicious food!
Our server wasn't that attentive. Actively walked passed us. Messed up on our order twice. First time, I specifically asked to take off the tater tot and replace with hummus. He forgot, so the tater tot was on the house and the hummus came later. Fine. But the worst offense of it all was he forgot the Hawaiian roll we placed when we first ordered. When we inquired about it, he passed it off as if we are adding it as a later addition. Fine. Then came the bill, which included the Hawaiian roll that was allegedly added, but was never delivered. We had to ask him to take it off. On top of that, our drinks were just sitting at the bar and I had to ask him if he can check on our drinks. One of our dirty martini literally tasted like salt water, because there was so much olive brine in it. Overall, disappointing. And if you were wondering which table we were, we paid $300 total inclusive of tip. And the tip is at full 20%, because why make everyone else suffers for one bad waiter's inattentiveness. Mind you, this is Friday night in FiDi, no long line and not all tables were filled. Our hostess, on the other hand, was the most wonderful person ever. She was always attentive and thoughtful.
All of the food tasted off. The lobster smelled old and fishy. The raw tuna was mushy.
the food was really good but the service was hit or miss and we were sat in the tiki section which i really didn't like - does not feel like the rest of the restaurant.
Loved this place. Lively vibe at 9 when we were there. Amazing drinks and food was so good. We had pasta and seafood and everyone loved their dish. The brussel sprouts were the best I have had. Sat at bar and service was friendly and prompt.
Very bad experience and very bad quality/price ! Poor menu ! Crazy prices ! Not confortable and very noisy ! Will never recommand !
Very nice staff. Quite mediocre flavor
Almost too loud to carry on a conversation. I mean really loud! Food was solid but underwhelming. Service was fine. I’d go elsewhere.
Best oyster bar I’ve ever been to! Felt so classy and upscale!
We always enjoy dining at Leo's. They have a wonderful selection of oysters. The regular menu is very creative and delicious! Great service, too!
So great! Love this place for lunch. Sad the tea leaf salad is gone but raw bar is great and so is rest of the menu!
