Leo's Oyster Bar
What Insiders Are Saying
Leo's Oyster Bar involves pricey, but tasty seafood in an '80s power yacht come to life. Obviously it's in the Financial District.
Best oyster bar I’ve ever been to! Felt so classy and upscale!
We always enjoy dining at Leo's. They have a wonderful selection of oysters. The regular menu is very creative and delicious! Great service, too!
So great! Love this place for lunch. Sad the tea leaf salad is gone but raw bar is great and so is rest of the menu!
As always, we love Leo’s! Food and atmosphere are incredible and the service is outstanding. Thanks again for a great meal 😍
Yes, our server was fantastic! Great spot for Mother's Day.
Came for dinner, and the food was uninspired and bland. We expected much better quality considering the atmosphere and price point. We sat at the countertop by the raw bar. It was our first time at the restaurant, but our server didn't really explain the menu and seemed rather disinterested. She didn't check in on us and never asked if we wanted to order more rounds of drinks, etc. It generally seemed like she didn't want to be there which dampened our experience a bit. We had really high expectations, however we were disappointed in the quality of service and food. The design of the space is really fun, however this isn't enough of a selling point to get us to come back. Go next door to Wayfare Taven instead. You'll spend the same amount of money for better ambiance, better service, better cocktails, and better food.
Amazing service. Marked as bday dinner and were greeted with glasses of champagne. Highly recommend for special occasions. Very personable staff. Will definitely be back soon.
One of the best restaurants SF has to offer! The chef is creative and the execution of each dish is beyond perfection. Stefan, the GM and all of the staff give such warmth and genuine care for the experience. My only regret is not having dined there sooner. Bravo Big night team!
Our server was a bit too high energy and pressure. Not sure what was up with him but that changed our experience completely. I’ve been to Leo’s so many times, this time it felt very different.
Cute retro decor, tons of instagrammers here. Super LOUD. Evening vibe more like a bar, crowded, very noisy. Would like to return for lunch, the natural light would be nice with the big front windows. Service was energetic and friendly. The oysters and ceviche- fresh and sparkling. Food and cocktails on point. Not cheap, but worth it for a special occasion. Recommended!
Leo’s was cute, and I think it would be a great stop for drinks, but our food wasn’t all that great. Both of our dishes were pretty bland and unexciting. It seemed like the trout I had was almost flavorless. I was expecting more based on reviews and the general feel of the place.
Wanted to love it more than I did. It was crowded and noisy. I sat in front of the oyster shuckers and they smelled every oyster for freshness, throwing out many because from the looks on their faces, not fresh. The seafood tower looked skinny, not so much food on a large plate. Would look better on a smaller plate. That way doesn't seem like tons of ice and not much else. The deviled eggs by far the best thing.
Great customer service! Was greeted with complimentary rosé, love! Would recommend definitely trying cocktails & the lobster roll!
Incredible food, exemplary service, will definitely return.
We happened to be in the financial district later in the afternoon around 2:00 PM , And wanted a little something to eat and happened across Leo’sOyster bar. The bartender was very friendly and professional and we ordered some cocktails and then we decided to have some oysters which were fabulous. I would give the oysters five stars. We tend to like the smaller ones and the bartender was very knowledgeable on where the oysters came from , their size , whether they tasted briny , etc. we also ordered sandwiches which were good but not fabulous my daughter and I ordered the shrimp rolls and my husband ordered the pork belly sliders which were better than our shrimp sandwich. Overall though I would definitely go back here and the oysters are amazing cocktails are amazing and the ambience is fun
Leo's oyster bar serves amazing food! Their service is amazing and the decor is also very awesome. We hope to go back again!
It's expensive, but you're getting what you pay for. You can taste the care the drinks are made with and the food was a 10 out of 10. The Brussel sprouts were amazing and are a good portion size for two. The grilled rib-eye was cooked to perfection. Oysters are a little pricey so I would go to HH for those. Service was good—our waiter was super friendly, helpful with suggestions and gave us two complimentary pancakes with carver (so good!). Overall, the experience was great!
My favorite place to take guests when they visit San Francisco. Immaculate oysters, great martinis, a lovely ambience, and unbeatable lobster rolls.
The decor and service was lovely however it was too loud to have a conversation and the food was quite bland. I think this place could be great if they tried to make it more of a restaurant and less of a bar.
The oysters were fantastic and the main reason we went but the bouillabaisse and pasta with lobster and crab were wonderful too. Our server was knowledgeable and very warm and welcoming. We were celebrating a house closing and it was a perfect place for a festive dinner.
A sublime dining experience & staff are the BEST!
Perfect FiDi location and happy hour is#1!
Great food and excellent service. The front room was hoping and lively and the back room was perfect for our small celebration. Employees paid attention to all the details
Leo’s has so much character! The service was great and the food was outstanding. Only con is that the seating was alittle tight and uncomfortable
Nice room in the back. Ricky R is a great server. Room in the back is great for groups. Great music sound track. Kussho oysters & Dr Loosen/Muscadet is a great choice. If they have seafood pasta special, order it!
Great ambiance in here and they did a great job at making us feel special for a birthday! The decor was super cute and they were very accommodating. The food was really good. We just did a bunch of apps and it was enough food!
Delicious meal, drinks, and wonderful staff. I was on a business trip so I sat alone at the bar. The bartenders were super friendly, chatted me up a bit, and when they found out it was my first time on the west coast, they treated me like a king. They gave me a couple free appetizers and oysters, recommended some things on the menu, and allowed me to split the bill between my personal and work credit cards. It's a small space, so make a reservation. The view from my spot at the bar was great to see the oyster shuckers at work. Thanks to everyone who made this a highlight of my trip out west!
This place has emerged as one on my most epic go-to's. Superb Oysters, deviled eggs are sensational, sandos and entrees equally delicious, and the wine list complements the food with great selections at every price point. If Leo's doesn't become one of your favorite spots, there is a defect in your brain that needs curing.
Leos is always amazing when we go! The service could have been a tad friendlier but I get it, we went late on a Saturday night so I totally understand. Food was delicious!
Definitely a must-try restaurant. Great decor and food is awesome.
There are three dining areas and the back rooms are perfect for conversation. And i can't say enough about the service. Our waiter was amazingly patient, never rushed us, and quite knowledgeable.
My only issues was that the tables for two were quite small and tough to not knock over a glass, or hit your hand on a plate.
Overall, highly rated.
Best oysters in town, in my view - fresh, cold and sweet. The accompanying sauces are perfect. Great spot
Very good experience, wonderful place, excellent food and serving. They reserved a very awesome treatment for my wife’s birthday. Thank you all
Excellent for a business meal, particularly to celebrate a team accomplishment. The food was delicious, and staff was very friendly and helpful. I appreciate that they were accommodating when our group had some trouble. The ambiance is fun and different. It was easy to hold conversation with people next to you.
Always great and delicious! Shrimp sandwich is wonderful and pork sliders are a must!!!
Amazing food and service; from the servers, to the bartenders, to the manager/owner. It was very expensive...…..but the food and drinks were to die for.
Great venue and cocktails. I have never had dinner there before and I would not recommend. The service was extremely slow and we were there for three hours, not by our choice. I’ve ordered oysters there before and the sever prior was so much more descriptive and helpful with selection, so maybe it was an off day.
We also boxed up our food and they took it away to being bring it back to us but they never did and we left without it (partly our fault) . Server seemed preoccupied and never really checked in with us.
Great for happy hour, but maybe just stick to the bar.
I had to check in several times with the hostess and wait 20 minutes after our reservation time before we were seated. We got a tiny table deep inside, near a small bar area. Place was very loud, food okay but not more than that.
So noisy that we couldn’t talk about the movie we had just seen. Everything was average but prices high. Not a good combo
I have no complaints and I would definitely recommend this place!
Unfortunately the crab did not taste fresh but the server graciously took it away with no fuss. Loved everything else otherwise! So consistently wonderful!
Food and service were quite good. But, the plan is fair too noisy to carryon normal conversation even in a back room.
