Our food was all excellent, and our server, Geoff was also very attentive and friendly. Would recommend the manchego potato gratin and the steaks. It was very good.
A great find with tapas and the ability to turn large plates into shareable items. Very tasty creative menu items and reasonably priced wines.
This place is fantastic! The environment is open, comfortable, yet elegant. The service was excellent. But the pièce de résistance was definitely the food. Chef Tyson is brilliant! Everything we had was quite literally as good as it gets. From the brussel sprouts, to the beet and chevre salad, the short rib chili, to the cedar plank salmon, each item was the best we've ever had, and the presentations were perfect. Absolutely our new favorite restaurant. Don't go to Vail without at least one meal here!
Out of the 6 restaurants we visited on our recent stay in Vail this was the best out of the 6.
The Elk tartar just created by the chef as the appetizer was the best we ever ate. My husband's ribeye and my chicken were both excellent.
Not noted under the 10 best in Vail but should definitely replace some of them under the 10 best. Hidden Gem!
The service was outstanding but the food was overpriced and not that tasty.
My first time visiting Leonora on a ski trip with my family. UNBELIEVABLE. The service was fantastic and the food was even better. The shrimp al ajillo and octopus a la plancha were amazing, the Snake River wagyu was the best steak I had in town. Will definitely be back.
I would never have known about this place if I hadn't checked Fodor's for Vail restaurant recommendations. Leonora's is tucked away on the third floor of The Sebastian hotel/condo development so there's no way you'd just happen to pass by and wonder in. We were intrigued by the tapas menu and booked a reservation for a birthday celebration. We couldn't have been more pleased and surprised to find an amazing new (to us) restaurant in Vail!
We requested one of the big circular booths and immediately felt ensconced in our own world, all wrapped up in crushed velvet, and with a view of Leonora's glamorous setting. A floor to ceiling wine bar cylinder, mod chandeliers and cozy corners reminded us of Barcelona.
The chef treated us to Prosecco to begin our night of celebration and we followed with tapas plates of: crispy octopus 'a la planka' with chorizo and potatoes; shrimp 'al ajillo' with parsley, garlic and white wine; colorado lamb 'albondigas' with mint lime yogurt; and then shared the special of the night, local colorado elk spare ribs. Each selection was done to perfection, layered flavors, with each bite better than the last.
We were thoroughly happy campers but the chef had one more surprise for the evening when our waiter delivered a trio of chef's selected desserts - a brownie with handcrafted marshmallow reminiscent of smore's but in a grownup-way; a maple (wow who would have thought!) ice cream; and a take on an almond joy bar. We were delightfully stuffed with goodness. We'll be back and we won't wait a whole year for another birthday!
Food is very good. Small plates (tapas) and you can order regular size meals. Ordered the duck as a meal and the portion was very small. Beautiful restaurant but I wouldn’t go back.
We had a good meal here with two other couples. The service was accommodating and friendly. Drinks were great as well. Very pleased and will return.
Innovative tappas dinner end well served. The chef’s modifications for our meal made it very special.
We enjoyed Leonora during a weekend ski trip to Vail. What a find! We really enjoyed the small plates and opportunity to share several selections. The service was outstanding, the food was delicious and creative, and the wait staff was very helpful with their descriptions and suggestions. We will definitely be back next time!
The chicken was like rubber and tasteless. Will not go back
Excellent food. Attentive service. Surprised that it is t busier. Will be on the top of our list for Vail going forward.
I took my partner to the Leonora for his birthday, and I was blown away. Our server, Jeff, was outstanding. He went above and beyond to make the occasion special for us. We are vegetarians, and were impressed by the fine dining quality of the vegetarian options - the edamame pestos was out of this world! I can't say enough positive things about the Leonora, and certainly give big props to Jeff - we will be coming back again for our next special occasion.
Excellent service, terrific food, elegant atmosphere.
Small portions for main dishes. Average food. Incredibly slow service.
Service and quality of food need a lot of work. Timing of food and drink and ordering needs to be improved
Visiting Vail for a ski trip.
Wines were amazing and the appetizers we shared were awesome, Japanese Eggplant Croquets and Roasted Cauliflower with Edamame Pesto.
Dinner was a different story- I order the Roasted 1/2 Chicken were seems great at first bite. 3 bites in, I cut into my dish to find out it was raw!
Sent it back for a new once, cut into the 2nd chicken, raw again!
Ended up with the “Wild Mushroom” Farro Risotto, which just had average baby bella mushrooms on top, and was totally mediocre!
The server and the manager did apologize for the mishap, and only charged us for only 2 entrees.
All in all, the raw chicken freaked me out, twice!
Very Pleased with service, great waiters!! Food was really good, was expecting a little bit more out of te Duck Leg.
The Leonora was delish! Andrew our server was the best! Very attentive and professional!
My son and I stopped in for dinner after a day of skiing. The ambiance was awesome with a floor to ceiling glass cylinder wine display. Service, food and attention to detail was excellent. We'll be back...this time with my wife!
Excellent food in a beautiful restaurant , however worst service in town. They keep switching waiters dropping utensils plates etc. Disaster they did not know what they were doing
We had the small plate tapas, they were varied and fantastic. Great flavours and well prepared. The staff are as amazing as the food. Friendly and attentive. We will definitely eat here again when back in Vail.
Very slow service! The wait staff didn’t check on us and were slow to respond to requests. It was 1.5 hour for tapas and salad. The table next to us left before ordering because it took so long. A shame because the food was good but we didn’t make it to entrees.
Our waiter was excellent. We received very poor treatment when we arrived by the host at the front table.
The best breakfast I had in a long time!!!!
Very good steak
Our server was the best and remembered us from last year. Great food service and will be back.
It’s not a very large place so make your reservation early. Easy to vallet the car at the hotel (which is very upscale and friendly staff). Menu is very diverse and the food was wonderfully prepared. The service staff was very attentive to us in regards to refills and making sure we had everything we needed. The salmon and steak were superb and the sides are big enough to share for 2.
Save room for one of their great deserts too! We got 4 for 8 people and just sampled around the take!!
Lastly, the hotel and just outside gave some very good options for pictures. We were there just after Christmas but I would imagine that this is the case anytime. Enjoy!
Waiter was excellent, very attentive and friendly. Food was very tasty, great to share or have your own main. Definitely recommend sharing so you can try various menu items, Brussels sprouts, shrimp al ajillo, manchego potato gratin and especially the shrimp ceviche all very good. The spinach salad had perfectly poached and flavored pears which was a nice balance to the blue cheese. It was pretty busy, but our waiter never missed a beat. We will be back!
Such an amazing experience. My boyfriend and I had the greatest service and some of the best tapas to date!
Bottomless drinks for $24 that you can mix and match! Aka you can have bloody Marys, mimosas, bellinis, plain champs, and rose all for that price. I’ve never come across a place that doesn’t make you choose one or the other! The food was good too, and make sure you save room for dessert!
Phenomenal food and service!
We went for breakfast - normally love the Belgian waffle with berry compote, but the side had been changed to Nutella. Not a fan. Tried the Eggs Benedict instead - would say that they were good, but have had better. Still, will return for breakfast in the future.
Burger was good, not great, fries were blan, could use a little taste. Salmon was ok, would not recommend it, little fish. The wine list by the glass was lacking. Quality of by the glass wines were well below what you would expect in Vail.
Very attentive and pleasant staff. Fun "tapas" menu plus heartier fare. Nice wine list! Lovely evening!
Beautiful atmosphere, excellent wait staff and delicious food. A little tricky to find but worth the effort.
Our waiter gave us excellent suggestions - the octopus tapa and peanut butter dessert were fantastic
High prices for B+ food. The wait staff did everything they could to get our order right (received a well done steak when medium was ordered) but overall, we weren't impressed enough to want to come back.
The food is rather good. Personally, I think they could really provide better portions. We ordered 4 entrees, one large plate, and only 4 drinks, and had a bill of $240. OK, it's Vail, and yes, it's a nice place. But for entree priced items, they should provide a bigger portion. Sorry, but 3 scallops for $34 is a bit over the top - at least provide 4 or 5 scallops.
