Leona - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
I was so excited for this restaurant and made a reservation well in advance for friends who were coming in from out of town. When we got to the restaurant it was closed!!! Not just closed for a private event but boarded up and locked with bums living in the patio area.
We had to scramble to find a good place to eat in the area with open reservations. It was a very disappointing experience. This is not at all the fault of the restaurant but Open Table should not be allowing reservations at restaurants that are no longer in business!
Please let me know if there is any compensation for this frustration.
Made a reservation for Thursday, July 13th at 8pm. Restaurant was CLOSED. No one had bothered to call or inform us of the situation. A group of locals standing outside the restaurant told us that this is a common experience with diners at this restaurant. Not going back. If you are, call ahead of time to confirm they will be open.
We went there and the restaurant was completely closed. I travelled from Riverside to Marina del Rey and even changed my reservation from 5:30 p.m. too 6:00 p.m. while enroute due to traffic THROUGH Open Table. I have never experienced a problem with Open Table before.
I have not been able to get in touch with Leona. There was no sign in their window to explain the closure. Their telephone has not been disconnected.
I am quite upset over the whole ordeal.
We went here for my bachelorette party dinner. The food was very delicious and the staff was incredibly friendly. Loved the set up, the patio was a great place to sit and out of the sun by 7 pm, the music level was perfect for conversation. However, this restaurant does not serve cocktails, only beer and wine which was disappointing especially because half of the beers we tried to order they were out of. Overall I was happy with the food service but not thrilled with the beverage service.
We made a reservation for the 4th of July. When we got there the restaurant was “closed” not seating reservations and had a limited menu with just $4 beer and wings available. Being a holiday this made it very hard to find another restaurant. Will not be back or recommend because of this experience. Don’t take reservations if you won’t be open in the future.
I made reservations for 6 people for July 4. I made the reservation over 3 weeks in advance. I received a call on July 4 about 2 hours before our reservation time advising restaurant was closed and they would not honor our reservation. Definitely negatively impacted my families July 4 plans. The women who called to cancel us was nice enough and said she was sorry, but still. Not cool.
Horrible service. Took the waitress over 20 minutes to come to our table when we were seated. Food had a piece of plastic in it that my boyfriend bit into. Menu was not good enough to stay past a drink (which took another 20 minutes to get) and appetizer (which we could see sitting in the kitchen for a good 10 minutes before it was brought out). We left without even ordering a main course and found another restaurant down the street. Had high hopes and was very disappointed with this place.
Service was good. But they served me a rack of beef ribs that was absurdly over-cooked to point where there was barely any charred meat left on the bone, and the meat was pretty far from "falling off the bone" as I was expecting for that price point. I regret not sending it back, but I didn't want to be unpleasant on my date.
Chef Ramsey would have thrown it at them. I won't be going back.
We used to love this place and come at least 2x/month...at least! Since Nyesha left the menu is average at best. Weve been a few times for dinner since Nyesha left, but the menu is just boring. We decided to give brunch a shot but we're sorely disappointed. The service was terrible. Booked a table for the patio at 12 noon but had to wait at the bar for 40 minutes because there was no table available. Once we finally were seated there was literally one waitress for all the outside tables. The food was fine but nothing super special. Just kinda sad because it's such a great location and the food used to be so special.
Been here three times. After the first two it was my favorite restaurant on the Westside. The third time the food was bland and the kitchen was out of quite a few things. I understand it's a rotating menu but June was a miss.
Now that founding chef has left, food no longer the same. Worse, we were charged higher than listed menu prices for drinks, appetizers and main course. Waiter had to recalculate twice to finally get total to where it should be. No explanation why.
Sneaky. Be careful if you go.
Though this restaurant was highly rated, it doesn't deserve it. The food is mediocre. Under-seasoned and average at best. The service was inconsistent. Some servers were great while others were not at all--not from a mean place, but an unknowledgeable place.
If you're in Venice don't waste your meal here when there are so many amazing restaurants to chose from.
The Crispy Snapper was delicious. The service was poor and the music was deafening, making it really difficult to have a conversation. I have eaten here before and don't remember it being at all loud. We waited almost 15 minutes for the waiter to take our credit card after he brought us our check and tried several times to flag him down. I will probably stick to brunch, as dinner was n ot that enjoyable, although the food is great.
I made a reservation for 3 people via Open Table and requested patio dining. When we arrived, we were seated in the very corner of the patio, which required another diner to get up from her chair to allow us through. I started sliding over into my corner, when I noticed how disgusting the seat cushion was. We requested a different table, which we were granted. That seat cushion was better, but not great, but agreed to sit there.
We were greeted by our waitress, she was lovely and accommodating. We had the ahi and the squid appetizers; they were both excellent. We also ordered the Local Beets Salad, 2 orders of the Sea Bass and a side of their Kennebec Fries. Everything was tasty and enjoyable.
I did discuss the patio issue with the Manager. He seemed to be aware of the problem, and to his credit, removed one appetizer from our bill. Next time I would sit inside and see how that goes., because the food is excellent.
The food was absolutely delicious 10/10. I ordered the ahi tartare which was savory, not fishy at all, fresh, tender, gooey. The taste and the texture were amazing, and the chips were one of a kind. Ordered the lamb burger for entree and it was amazing. Satisfying to last bite.
We had some good things but for the most part our food was not good.
The Ahi Tuna with homemade wontons - Excellent
The Beet Salad - Bland
The Sea Bass - Bland, cooked poorly.
Tortellini - Average
I would go back for a glass of wine and the ahi but after 3x of giving them a chance, I'm no longer eating full meals here.
We were there for Mother's Day. My mother's food wasn't cooked as requested. My daughter had the chicken and waffle, which was such a small portion for the price. And, since she barely had any food, she shared our food. I had the pastrami benedict, which was served "cold" with the hardest/toughest pastrami I've ever had. Our server was terrible, as well. We constantly had to wave him down for service. Also, there was no soap or paper towels in the restroom!
