Not the old LeMont....overall a nice night out...Thanks to COVID - we had a window table with a great view on a Friday night.
Service was good...but the meal seemed pre-prepared. Appetizers were great. Coquille Lemont. Salads were salads...nothing notable. Frozen sorbet served prior to entree was weird...rock hard served in a dirty lemon rind. (attempt at fancy - use a small cup instead). The Chicken Christina was served with sauce on the side - dry piece of chicken - stuffed with "something". Sauce was on side since it was sugar-sweet, as I was warned by my server. Spouse had beef wellington - that was average.
We both were convinced that the mashed potatoes were instant (Hungry Jack?) and not actual potatoes. The other veggies were good.
We selected to choose from the 60th anniversary menu. We weren't displeased...as it was nice to get out. Was it the quality of meal that the LeMont was once known for? No.
The food was tremendous, as was the service and ambience. Despite the pandemic, workers were very attentive while still following protocol. You can't beat the view. We went for our anniversary and will be going back.
Food was good but not amazing. Very nice staff. Awesome view. We went on a Sunday evening and it was nice and quiet.
Food was excellent. Service was amazing. We will be back!
Redeemed only in part by its spectacular views. Volume shop. The food was thoughtless and bland. I ordered the anniversary special which gave them a total of six different varieties in which they could have at least attained a satisfactory level in one. Let’s go through: 1) bread. Stale;hard as a rock. Tasteless 2) croquille lemont. The entire Fish-based dish tasted like boiled water. Unimaginative. 3) salad - boring and tomatoes tasted like apples 4) lemon sorbet pallet cleanser - ONLY decent dish 5) chicken and potatoes- stringy chicken which had a terribly mushy cheese mixture in its middle. Didn’t eat at all 6) Cannoli: Crispier than a spring roll, and the cream tasted like Oreo filling; very processed.
The waiter was very quick, responsive and nice.
Love the place with a great view but wish the lights are dimmer so we can see the city view better. But it has excellent food
Restaurant was very elegant and service was perfect! The food... well could of been a lot better. We all agreed the food was subpar. It didn't fit the price or establishment well. We loved everything except the food, which is a big deal since we were at a restaurant
Your paying for a tacky, overdecorated resturaunt with a view. The lights in our dining room flicked the entire night which gave me a headache and ruined a rehearsal dinner for the party next to me. Food was way below average, overcooked duck and gave me the wrong cut of steak. Wont be back.
I was very pleased with my first visit to the Lemont. The interior of the restaurant and view are amazing. Very romantic. Everyone we encountered were very pleasant. Our server Mark was great; genuinely friendly and warm. One of my annoyances with fine dining is how cold and robotic servers tend to be and Mark was very much the opposite. The food was good, very classic, however it did not wow me. No complaints though, you're paying for the view and experience and it was definitely worth it.
Everything was wonderful. The food, atmosphere, view, etc.
The view, service, and food were all excellent. We will definitely go back again soon.
It had been a few years since we ate here & we noticed the remodeling immediately. It looked great but still retained the LeMont ambiance.
The food was great! We both ordered the 60th Anniversary meals for $60 & the selections to choose from had a nice variety.
We were here for my wife’s birthday & unlike other restaurants they acknowledged it when we arrived & that was it. Ironically there were 2 other birthdays & we know because they sang Happy Birthday to them from the singer in the bar & some of the waiters. Nothing for my wife. I know dessert was offered for the 60th Anniversary dinners but how about a candle at least?
The breakdown for us was the service. We sat for 15 mins before we got a menu then another 15 mins before another waiter came to take our order. Our waitress was serving several large tables across the restaurant that were nowhere near us. I don’t know if the blame should be the restaurants or the waitress but we saw other waiters around us hustling & serving tables & interacting with them & wondered why we didn’t have 1 of them. Out waitress only came by the table 15 mins after we sat down, to ask what we wanted for dessert then to bring us the check. The rest of the time it was busboy’s. We certainly didn’t feel like valued customers at all. We needed up being there 2-1/4 hours because of the poor service.
I can’t say that we would entertain returning any time soon.
The view was exceptional – the main reason we had dinner there. We opted for shrimp cocktail to start, it was very fresh. The chateaubriand for two was so tender, you could cut it with a fork. The vegetables were plentiful and tasty. Our server was extremely nice and helpful. When he didn't know about the wine list, he quickly found someone who did. Our dessert, a scrumptious apple cake, was on the house since we were celebrating my husband's birthday. We were very pleased with the restaurant and the food.
Ambiance, food and service was wonderful - and the view spectacular!!! On my list of best restaurants in Pittsburgh
The service was excellent. We were seated right away upon arriving a couple minute earlier than our reservations. As an appetizer we order stuffed peppers which were delicious. As for an entre we order twin lobster tails that were extremely bland with little to no taste, which we paid a little over $70 for.
LeMont is always fabulous. Whether you are treating yourself for a special occasion or simply because you made it through another week, they will provide you with a wonderful meal and attentive service.
I appreciate how LeMont provides vegan choices that are created as such versus me having to cobble together a meal out of side dishes.
My only negative comment is regarding the wine prices. The profit margin on their wine is extremely high.
Every staff member wished us Happy Anniversary. I ordered from the 60th anniversary menu, which included an appetizer, salad, entree with vegetable and starch, dessert, and wine or beer for $60. Very good value. Beef Wellington so tender, it melted in my mouth. Then, since it was our anniversary, they added a piece of chocolate cake for us to share. They made sure we had a lovely view with a window table. The entire evening was delightful.
Everything was excellent, the veal was a tad dry.
Breathtaking view of Pittsburgh, delicious food, outstanding service and great ambience. Definitely great place to celebrate special occasions.
An outstanding dinner experience. From service to waiter, the service was excellent. The food was exceptional. Even though they were busy and had limited capacity due to COVID, the accommodated our request for a window table. The ambience was perfect.
Food and service were exceptional as always. We were bothered by pesky fruit flies throughout our meal unfortunately. Even though I think Allegheny county permits at this time, bar was also closed.
Great service, great food, great atmosphere.
It was lackluster for the price. The food was cold and the veggies mushy. I felt like it was prepared earlier in the day and kept under a warming lamp. Our server was awkward. He didn’t want to serve us wine until we ordered a meal, yet the diners at the other tables by us were served alcohol. Very disappointing experience.
This restaurant is outstanding. It really takes me back to dining out in its hay day- it was elegant and red carpet treatment. The pianist was lovely and the food and champagne never stopped flowing.
We celebrate our 40 year anniversary at the lemont it was excellent. It the most elegant restaurant. View was spectacular. Food delicious everyone kind attentive. High recommend. Thanks for a memorable eveving.
Great food and service. Could use a little decor update but still very classy. Absolutely the best view of any restaurant I’ve ever dined at hands down. Worth a good night out. Bring ur piggy bank.
Birthday dinner. Everything was amazing. We had a beautiful view of the city, the service was on point and the food was delicious.
Outstanding service, excellent food. View is fantastic.
The staff that waited on us were not very adept at following the rules regarding Covid their masks were below their nose or below their chin… Made us very uncomfortable.
The food was just average, Nothing exceptional
Everything was excellent from service to the food
I made a reservation at 6:30 pm and we didn’t get seated till 7:30 and I requested a bottle and table by the window to be ready and they noted it but they didn’t have anything ready till 7:30 but at the end of the day it was a beautiful date night and food was very good
Thank you for everything, the food was great, and it was a very nice restaurant for my daughters graduation dinner,
we will be back at Christmas time when the decorations are there,
our server and service was excellent
Very calm place to eat. Amazing view of the city. Food portions are a good size. Wasn’t very busy from what we could see due to covid restrictions I’m sure and people still not going out to eat—with that being said, our server should have been on top of things and unfortunately he wasn’t. Regardless, it was a nice double date with friends
LeMont is fabulous. The team treats you like a best friend coming to visit. As a healthy vegan I appreciate choices that were prepared with me in mind versus having to cobble together a meal from sides. Always a treat but lately, its been a monthly visit! :)
It has been quite a few years since I had been there and excited to return. The service was decent, staff was pleasant. We ordered from the Anniversary pre-fixe menu which was reasonably priced. The food was average at best and I’m not sure if this was based on this menu or the regular menu as well. Need less to say, we were disappointed as it certainly was not the experience I remembered from years ago.
Always good experience at LeMont. Food was great
The view was amazing. The anniversary menu was such a great value. I recommend giving it a try!
TL;DR: Worth the price of admission, just understand what you are paying for. Spoiler; it's not the food.
Pros: The view, old school service style, Braised veal short rib app, steak Diane (made tableside), the seriously dated (80s) style of the room that is almost retro.
Meh: The cocktails, the lack of a waiting area if your table isn't ready, and the desserts.
Cons: Cold, crusty whipped potatoes and veg that come with EVERYTHING. The abysmal and overpriced wine list (stick to cocktails), Ceasers salad that is obviously from a bag, midlevel (if that) quality of meat, my filet was OK yet in no way worth $54. The heartstopping bill at the end.
Overall this is a view, with a show and dinner happens to be served. The view is truly spectacular and the show is the wait staff, dressed in tuxes, using Oldschool note pads to write everything down and literally running between tables and the kitchen. Overall the service is well polished and very enjoyable. They obviously know their role, pretty much everyone asked us what our occasion was. I can imagine this place packed during Highschool prom season with teens awkwardly trying to be fancy.
As an out of towner with a locally based girlfriend it was nice to experience something and different and staunchly set in the past. It's worth a visit, just know what you're getting into and set expectations accordingly.
Service and the food were excellent. A little noisy but certainly not out of the ordinary for a busy Friday night and not too loud to talk to each other in a normal voice at the table. The special menu - including a glass of wine and desert- was a good value.
