Lemon Mediterranean Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Lemon was listed high on the Freehold list of 'veggie friendly' restaurants, so we decided to give it a try, and were not disappointed. The beet soup looked good and was excellent. The salad special of the day was creative and tasty. And the two veggie main courses that my wife and I ordered were quite delicious. The after-dinner cappuccino was uniquely served. The overall quantity of food was perhaps too much, but we made a full meal of the leftovers the following day. Two cautions: (1) it is BYOB, and (2) they provide free appetizers so adjust your meal accordingly.
This an excellent restaurant that correctly bills itself as Mediterranean. It doesn't just mean Greece and Italy but also Northern Africa. There is couscous, and fresh hummus which is outstanding. Lamb and seafood dishes are particularly good. When there is a pasta special go for it. Always made in house. Its BYO and if you forget there is a liquor store in the next door strip mall.
The food was fine, not great, but totally passable. However for a mother's day dinner, or any dinner at a restaurant, we did not want to be served by teenage boys (14-16?) who completely lacked manners because of their lack of experience. I don't think they were meaning to be rude and were trying to be friendly by joking around, but tossing the plates so the entree nearly slid off the plate or just the general tossing of plates while serving a customer is unacceptable. Definitely do not recommend.
Excellent restaurant where the owner is always present and personable. He really takes pride in his food creations. The table settings are always clean and the food presentations are creative, fresh and delicious. We have been dining @ Lemon for years and think that it really is a gem as menu has a variety of options that suit everyone's diet (vegis, seafood & meats). The portions are just right - not too little and not too much. The flavors and combinations are unique and are not masked by too much salt & garlic.
We highly recommend the lunch buffet too!
