Lemon Grass - Syracuse Ratings and Reviews
The food wasn't bad but for the price I expected much more. I felt like I could have had a better meal for half the price at another Thai restaurant such as Erawans on Erie Blvd.
The Pad Thai reminded me a lot of the Pad Thai I get frozen at the grocery store (Amys). Except I paid 5 times as much for it. I had high hopes for Lemon Grass but left feeling disappointed.
Restaurant wasn't that busy, but we were sat in the middle of dining room with people moving all around us, instead of the open seats around the edges. Lights were oddly bright inside for dinnertime. Dinner was served so quickly it must have been pre-cooked. Food and service were mediocre at best.
The setting was lovely. The menu, a little confusing (Thai and French/steakhouse). But the food was excellent. The only disappointment was a very snooty waiter who acted like he had better things to do than answer questions and make recommendations. We had an enjoyable evening in spite of him, but it left a negative impression of this otherwise very fine restaurant.
Great Asian fusion with a large menu (including fresh seafood and steak-Snake River Kobe continental style is the bomb) as well as more traditional Thai food and sushi as well. I would be difficult for someone to not find something they like on the menu. Very well thought out wine list with moderate as well as high end bottles (if that's your thing). Reluctant to share the good news but my son is graduating this year and they deserve the props.
I brought my daughter here for her 20th birthday. I chose this restaurant, as it was very close to the theater. Very clean restaurant with great food. Our waiter was very pleasant but seemed very rushed as he talked very fast and was rushing around . My daughter ordered an entree and asked for no noodles and when it arrived as she had not ordered, the waiter said it was busy and she was getting the noodles. I expected more from an upscale restaurant. I would still recommend this place for fine dining.
The mixologists were professional, knowledgeable and personable. They are an asset to the establishment, particularly the female mixologist. Unfortunately, we do not recall her name.
Our server was pleasant and professional.
The food was good. I had a whole lobster and filet, and the filet was prepared properly and my wife had rack of lamb, which was also good. The lobster was overcooked, dry and bland.
Th restaurant seemed a bit dingy and had stained carpeting and stained seat cushions in the bar. The ambiance was lacking and it was too bright, not a welcoming atmosphere.
Overall experience was not very good at all. The waiter was not friendly, seemed rushed and bothered. Food was generally inconsistent and nothing to write home about. We felt somewhat ill after dinner. We joked that we should have gone to the cheesecake factory at the mall instead and would have probably gotten better food and better service. We would not recommend, nor will we return.
Two out-of-town classmates getting together for dinner during a reunion weekend at the University. I knew this place for years and had been here during previous visits to Syracuse. For me, the bistro section was new and we took advantage of that, but not before we first enjoyed a magnificent appetizer special that was yellowtail sushi but, most unusually, was very thinly sliced and rolled with a combination of Japanese spices. Wonderful! The bistro meats were terrific as well. Rack of lamb (available with or without red curry sauce - I skipped the sauce), as good as any I have had anywhere. Very ample portion, fair price. Interesting “can can” dessert with cookie garnish baked in the shapes of dancers’ legs.
Enjoyed our palaver with our server, who was earnest and gracious on his second day after having been promoted from a buzzer. All in all a very satisfying experience. As expected.
My meal was stunning. I wanted to pick up the pot the mussels were served in and drink the liquid. The entire meal was so good and served with a small amount of heat that made everything so delicious. Seafood, perfectly cooked. Steak, the same. Really a wonderful meal. And the desserts were works of art. I love this place!
The appetizers including the special calamari were delicious. Every one liked their entrees. Most of us had something Thai. My Panang steak was a little spicey and delicious. The desserts were amazing. Artistic works of art and delicious to eat. My favorite looked like a high heel shoe. The guests we brought loved it all. Thanks Lemon Grass.
Never disappointed when we come here. Josh, our waiter, was great and made some delicious recommendations. The apps, entrees and dessert were all amazing. Unfortunately 3 of us shared one dessert because we were so full...next time leaving room for my own, they're some of the delicious and creative desserts in town!
I hate to leave bad reviews, but I had high expectations for this place. The waiter was rude, while my boyfriend and I were in a conversation, he walked over and started speaking over us, telling us the specials. What happened to a simple excuse me? We went straight to ordering dinner, and our food came out a half hour later barely even warm. Very disappointing.
Fourth visit, go to place for us in Syracuse NY, but this time the experience not as good. My order got screwed up, as I ordered the shrimp crock pot, and it came with chicken. Also, as the bowl was fresh and well prepared, it was extremely bland. However, my daughter had the tofu red curry, and she loved it! Still would come back, but now with some hesitation
