Lemaire at The Jefferson Hotel Ratings and Reviews
Wife's filet was one of the best she's ever had. My much more expensive special Wagyu steak was not good - several bites were not edible. We were comped a dessert for this. Service by Laura was as perfect as it could be. And The Jefferson at Christmas is a joy!
Absolutely wonderful. The food, service and decor are all first class. WE had asked for a quiet table and were seated in a small quiet area of the restaurant. Their wine list is extensive and interesting. The Christmas decor at the hotel is beautiful to see and to have such a great meal added to the experience. The price, for us, would make it a special occasion restaurant, but I am hoping for a lot of special occasions so we can go again.
The staff at Lemaire were extremely professional, friendly and helpful. The food was delicious, exquisitely presented and well portioned. Superb dessert, the chocolate raspberry torte was like no other. We enjoyed the beautiful decorations for the Christmas season as well.
Le Maire is fine dining at its best: terrific food; wonderful variety; excellent service and warm, inviting ambiance. The decor is gorgeous, and if you like history and/or architecture, it’s a feast for the eyes as well as your tummy! I can’t wait to go back.
I strongly recommend Lemaire at The Jefferson Hotel! Hubby's 71st b'day dinner was celebrated yesterday w/intimate table-for-two by the fireplace (wow), personalized b'day menu (whoa) & ultimately dedicated, non-intrusive, prompt, attentive, sincere staff (thank you Lauren, Breanne, so many others)!!~!! Respect to the chef who impeccably had it GOING ON w/salad of roasted beets & cracker meal crusted Chesapeake bay oysters to start, followed quickly I must add, w/certified Angus beef tenderloin, butter basted wild rockfish & additional comfort food side of mac & cheese (OMG); our mouths watered for all of the varied selections. I rarely eat everything on my plate but Lemaire had me join the 'Clean Plate Club'. I usually have hubby try a taste of this & that, so good, but all he heard from me instead was 'oh, ah, yum'. Hot foods were hot, cold foods were cold, my quartinet of Pinot Grigio maintained & served in portions like I have never experienced (Lauren again). For a positively scrumpdiliumptious dining experience, you will not regret Lemaire at The Jefferson Hotel! Oh, the surprise Happy B'day plated bread pudding dessert was to die for!
We were first time visitors to Lemaire. Our experience was overwhelmingly positive. The staff from the greeter, the bartender, the waitress, literally everyone we interacted with were top notch delightful people. The food the wine the drinks everything was without fault. We were talking about our experience afterwards and realized that for the first time in a very long time we had absolutely nothing but praise for the restaurant and our experience there. Kudos to everyone at Lemaire.
We could not have been more pleased with our experience at dinner for our 50th wedding anniversary. The food was outstanding, our waiter was most professional, courteous & yet friendly and the ambiance was wonderful. We were treated like a King & Queen. We will definitely return & want to do the Sunday Brunch the next time.
The service was beyond excellent. Within seconds, there was a relation that was similar to that of a waiter who had served us a hundred times, offered just the right advice, and nodded at our reactions as if we were old customers. This enhanced our meal in a wonderful way.
We came across the restaurant by accident, looking for a place to eat before a show at the Theatre. It was excellent! The bar drinks were great (Green Gimlet) although if I had to pick one negative, the bartenders seemed busy and it was a little difficult to get a 2nd drink. For dinner, I had the tuna appetizer and my husband had the meatball appetizer with grits. It was really tasty. He chose the venison for dinner, said it was good but not great. I had the lamb shank and everything about it was delicious! I would have a hard time not getting it again if I came back. Also, the smores bread pudding at the end was perfect.
First time to the Jefferson, but will definitely not be our last! Beautiful hotel, gorgeous bar/restaurant featuring very good food, at surprisingly reasonable prices. And the service was outstanding to boot. We just loved this place, and I am quite critical.
I had one last great surprise at the end of the evening. If you dine, valet parking was complimentary, and not $20.00.
We are planning another weekend trip to Richmond and will be going back for the brunch, which we were told if the best by far.
Btw....... a shout out to our server Matt! He was nothing short of perfect.
Excellent food, excellent service, excellent environment, excellent attention to detail. I took my wife to Lemaire for her birthday. The hostess wished her happy birthday when we arrived, the menu had Happy Birthday printed on it, and her desert plate had Happy Birthday written with chocolate frosting in a beautiful script. Very well done!
We have been there several times and when it is crowded it can be loud, but on this particular evening it was not crowded at all but they chose to sit other diners on both sides of us?
They did give us an anniversary menu and wrote Happy Anniversary on our dessert plate!
Food quality was very good only complaint might be it is on the salty side but somehow the experience didn’t seem as personable that evening.
We had an absolutely fantastic experience for our daughter's 22nd birthday! The food was off the hook and the service was equally amazing! It's not an inexpensive place by any means, but for a special occasion you really cannot go wrong at all! The wine list was extensive and amazing as well! My wife and I also stayed at the Jefferson hotel that night and it was one of the nicest hotels we've ever experienced. Simply first class from A to Z!!!!!!!
A disappointing experience--we had high expectations for a special occasion from what is supposed to be one of Richmond's premier restaurants. Unfortunately, the food was just OK--my wife's lamb shank was so salty she could hardly eat it--and the service from the kitchen was poor. Even our server apologized twice because there was such a long delay in getting the food from the kitchen. He also commented, "I've seen it be even worse!" Given its reputation Lemaire was simply a disappointment. We'll stick with the many other good restaurants in Richmond.
Overall we had a great experience! I got tuna tartare for starter and beef tenderloin for main course, my boyfriend chose crab cake and lamb shank. Food was amazing! It’s been 2 days how we had dinner there, but my boyfriend still tells me how awesome his lamb shank was. Thanks to our server Nick for the recommendation! Also they do have the veil brewing co IPA! Definitely will be back.
