Food was great, service was pretty weak given it was a Monday night. Might be back as a once a year type thing.
Not super impressed with out server. It wasn't very busy and she only had maybe 3 tables. We would have ordered more drinks had she been more on the ball. She just didn't have a go-getter attitude. Food was outstanding! We'll be back.
Terrible service. We waited over an hour for our salad and waited for our food. Finally asked for our check before the food arrived...the bartender where we were seated said sorry and that’s all we received. We didn’t have to pay for our salad and glass of wine. We still left a top which I think wasn’t necessary...no manager or any other management offered an explanation. I won’t be back or recommend this!!
Restaurant week menu for lunch was excellent and a great deal!
Very disappointing visit for restaurant week. Did not receive the first course for over an hour and ended up having our meal paid for as apology for poor service.
It was restaurant week and you could order items separate on regular menu for same price. It was pointless. The ceviche wasn’t very good
The brunch was great and the staff was really welcoming and friendly.
Amazingly delicious food, excellent service, the best dining experience I have ever had!
Amazing personal service from the moment we walked in the door! Warm yet sophisticated ambiance, outstanding food and quiet enough to have a conversation without the need to shout over the table!
Had brunch here with a few of my friends and we LOVED it! the service was great, food was delicious! only complaint would be that the waffles were a little hard but i think it was because of the way they were sitting out on a hot tray over a burner. Otherwise, beautiful space, delicious food.
This buffet had so many options! I was impressed with the quality of food, the service and the calm ambience. It was getting busier by the time I left but it was still really quiet and pleasant. I will definitely be back!
25 years since we first met. Married 24 years
Waitress didn’t come until an hour after we were seated
The service was good and the ambience is not bad but the seating arrangement was not good. We came as a couple and were seated in a bench, table, chair scenario. There were many open spots. Unfortunately, they seated another couple right next to us. It was too close to fully enjoy our experience. The salmon was a bit dry.
Fabulous, fabulous food with wonderful wine pairings. The service is impeccable and on point. One of our fav places, for years.
Service and atmosphere was great. Some food selections were salty and not valued at the price in our opinion.
Declined in quality over the years.
I had the lamb chops, and although cooked perfectly, the potato purée was dry and bland.
Brussels sprouts are incredible when indeed, caramelized-sadly, these were without color at all.
My wife’s sea scallop dish was wonderfully flavor packed and cooked with a beautiful sear.
My wife ordered a Moscow Mule, which was very weak and not worth the cost.
I would also expect an artisan bread and maybe a compound butter to be served based on the overall cost of the evening.
We both had salads, which were fine, but forgettable and finished with tiramisu-which was just fine.
Service was good, but we’ve had much better food experience in the 5 or so times we’ve previously been.
The food was great, and so was our server Michael. He went over the menu and answered any questions we had.
This is our third time there. The first time was over a year ago and was great. The second time we went, it wasn't busy but because we didn't have reservations we had to wait even though over half the restaurant was empty. The manager kept running away instead of seating us and finally a waiter was looking at us wondering why we weren't seated and we had to find our own chairs and silverware The last time we made reservations and for some reason they keep changing the number of people on our reservations multiple times so finally I gave up and corrected when I got there. Service was okay, they were already charging us a 18% gratuity and never asked to refill our juices or coffee, but did refill our waters and most part cleared our plates. After 1.5 hrs in the entire block didn't have electricity and we noticed people were still coming in and eating, but the workers were putting away the already cooked food and pastry so that was a bit odd. No apologies it explanations about taking away food 2 hours before the brunch buffet was supposed to end. Also when we had asked for tobasco sauce someone in the kitchen said they ran out, but we asked our waitress and she brought some out.
It was a good reasonably priced brunch.
Beef tips were great.
Service was excellent. Not very busy. Fritters fries were excellent. The beets salad was refreshing. The steak pasta was a little salty for my liking. The desserts were awesome but we were too full. The bread was good too and it would have been better if it was served warm!
Great restaurant. We had the salmon, scallops and sirloin. All were done well with nice presentation. We very much enjoyed the ahi appetizer. Just the right amount of spice. Look forward to returning and sampling more of their menu
My friends and I enjoyed the quiet ambiance and delicious lunch. The two who ordered the ginger carrot soup of the day said it was delicious. The quinoa salad, panini, and salmon club were all wonderful. We sat and talked a while which was fine with the staff.
Wishing there would have been eggs benedict for the brunch
Lela is an unsung delight in West Bloomington, off the beaten path. It is a gleaming contemporary space, but supremely comfortable. The ambience is cosmopolitan and sophisticated, but everyone would easily feel welcomed. Food is both for foodies, and for people who crave comfort food. Beverage selections are outstanding.
Terrific night. Great venue with wonderful service and food. This was our annual neighborhood holiday get together. Our server was excellent. We had terrific wine, reasonably priced, along with a delicious dinner. We look forward to returning.
The food is great! We’ve had good service in the past. But our server on this occasion was either very new or was just very indifferent! We waited long time for our dessert - ended up asking for it to go. Asked for our check and she went off and talked to several tables - walked around the restaurant and then went to get our check and then sort if threw it on the table and said “here you go”. Just disappointing!
Lela is attached to the Sheraton hotel in Bloomington. Hotel restaurants can be hit or miss, but Lela is definitely a hit! The ambiance isn't overly done and one might question when you first walk in whether your made the right choice or not. Fear not!
I ordered the New York Strip and my wife ordered the lamb chops. Both were perfectly done, tasty, and filling. Our waiter suggested a wonderful Italian Sangiovese.
We were pleasantly surprised with Lela's and will definitely be back!
Great service. House made pastas.
Probably one of the most overlooked restaurants in the Twin Cities. Hands down, the best hotel restaurant in town. Very handsome atmosphere, open kitchen, and excellent service. Best of all: you can easily talk to each other at a normal level. Care is taken to spread people through out the dining room. Food was exquisite. They make their own pasta. We shared the zucchini pasta with peppers and almonds as a starter although it could be a main dish. I had the double lamb chops with potato purée and glazed brussel sprouts. Superbly prepared and very filling. My wife had the seared scallops over risotto. Spectacular! Four large scallops, very tasty, and not a grain of sand. Give this place a try; you won’t be disappointed.
Great food, although portions seemed small for the price. Lovely atmosphere, however, it was a tad loud in the restaurant.
Our waiter, Adelle (sp?), was terrific.
Great food! Great service! Well done.
Wonderful menu and wine selection. Creative and fresh ingredients!
We were there for Christmas day for the 1st time so I will be going back to check it out on a regular day. They seemed to have a full house and to be a bit short on staff. That being said, our server was great! During the huge rush it was hard to get someones attention, but once the bulk of the people left the service quality went way up since she was not spread over way too many tables to offer white linen service. The food was the star though and even though it took awhile because the kitchen was buried - when it did come it was hot, perfect and delicious! They
The Christmas buffet ended at 4:00 pm but our reservation was at 5:00 pm. We were shocked that the flyer and website didn’t more clearly state the ending time of the buffet. Next time we will call. That said, we stayed and had a lovely meal.
We went there on Christmas. Staffs are friendly and food was great!
Christmas Day, restaurant and Open Table failed to point out the Christmas Buffet hours. We had a 9:30 AM reservation, still had to wait 15 minutes for seating. Food was slow, low average in taste and presentation, yet overpriced. Will not return.
We went for the Christmas brunch. The only open times were 9:15 & 9:30 am. We were seated at a table with a breakfast menu. The 2 people sitting next to us told us they were also expecting to have brunch but that it didn't start until 11 am. When the waitress came back we asked about brunch. She told us it started at 11. So, we asked if we could wait until 11 because we expected the brunch. We were told that we couldn't tie up a table for the 1 1/2 hour wait and that they were booked up. We left and did not order any food. We were extremely disappointed because no were on Lela's website or signs in the restaurant was it indicated that brunch started at 11. We were not the only ones expecting brunch. I will never go there again nor will I recommend it to anyone. We had a very bad experience!
B e careful to check the holiday websites
For Christmas dinner the information we received was NOT accurate, and we did have to wait for a table even when we had a reservation.
However the Manager made it right!
We stayed for the holiday brunch and it was wonderful
Just be careful you understand what you are getting when you sign up for the holidays as there was incorrect information on the OpenTable and the Lela websites -
I will return again in the future and make sure what I have signed up for! :)
