Leis Family Class Act Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Wow! What a great experience. The restaurant in run by college students learning the restaurant/cooking trade. I enjoyed myself the entire time. The service was great. The food was delicious. I will definitely be returning. This is not someplace you would go for a quick lunch. It took about 1.5 hrs. It is a 4 course meal. I highly recommend it!
This was our 15 th lunch at the restaurant. We love being served by new and up and coming new
waiters. The theme food makes the experience great for us. We love the Italian, Asian and French food the best. The meat is very fresh and flavorful. The deserts are great. We like the different soups as well. Overall a great experience that we enjoy, and next to Mama's Fish House this is our favorite restaurant.
We truly enjoyed the wonderful food - Italian Theme. The students came up with some creative ideas, which very possibly will not be had at any other restaurant! The Open-Face Lamb Shank & Spinach Ravioli, Point Reyes Blue Cheese Cream & Local Tomato Coulis was spectacular and served in a unique way. The Barolo Braised Short Ribs, Creamy Polenta, & Gremolata was very good. Our server, Tiff, was very sweet, and we wish her the best in starting her own bakery on Maui. It is a wonderful experience - one we wouldn't have associated with a trip to the islands of Hawaii, but one we hope to do more often. The only problem is the difficulty of getting a seating. There are few available, and they are filled almost immediately! We are looking forward to our next visit for the French-themed meal. I'm sure that Mark and his team will provide another sensational meal!
This is justifiably considered one of the best restaurants in Hawaii if not the country. Reservations are hard to get but you can also get on the waiting list. The students of the Maui Culinary Institute at Maui College do everything. The food, service and presentation are all first rate. We go whenever we're on Maui.
Grand Finale Dinner was an extravaganza "Holiday in Paris". Every detail from the ice sculpture, napkins, and Eiffel Tower ornaments on a Christmas tree were exquisite and opulent. Wine pairing with a 6 course French menu was balanced and genius. Special kudos to Mark Malone and Chef Tom Lelli for orchestrating such an ambitious dinner!
Been here many times. This was on the bottom of the scale. The food was not creative nor well executed. Four of us had filets. Two cooked perfectly and the other two were almost raw when the diners had ordered them medium well. Took another 20 minutes to get the steaks back. It turned out to be a two hour and 15 minute lunch, which was just too long. Dessert choice was unimaginative. Neither was good. Overall, a disappointing experience
This is a culinary school dining experience that is available on Wednesday and Friday during the school year at University of Hawaii, Maui. The food was beautifully presented and delicious. Students do the entire work with seating customers, taking orders, serving and clearing. If one chooses to bring wine, it will be opened and served with lunch. Next time I will do that. They have changing menus French, Thai, Asian. We had the French menu but will look forward to trying other menus.
A most delightful experience ! We were served an Italian feast by very earnest students in a gorgeous dining room accompanied by wine we brought to accompany the lunch . The short rib atop cheese infused polenta, was a standout of beautifully braised meat and deliciously warm foccasia . Can't wait to return on our next trip to Maui !
The restaurant was completely full except our table was ready and we were seated immediately with menus. in some confusion we waited 13 minutes for water and attention. Interestingly, the manager, Mark Malone, had noticed it. When we were leaving he took us aside and apologised profusely for the delay in serving us. Although the restaurant is always sold out, he said anytime we want to come again, simply call and he will do his best personally to accommodate us. His sincerity more than made up for our minor inconvenience. The food presentation at Class Act is beyond compare, even at the finest restaurants on Maui.
