Called the restaurant directly about an hour before our reservation to see if we could have our table on their outdoor patio. They told me they didn’t have any reservations for the evening and they weren’t open to the general public because someone had rented the entire restaurant out for the night. The manager told me they had known about the rental for at least 2 months. I asked him why i was able to make a reservation for their restaurant through open table if they were rented out and he had no clue. Not sure if this was the restaurants fault or open tables fault, but we were VERY upset! We had a concert at 7pm and the Power and Light District was crowded with people because of the concert and we were informed an hour before our reservation (ONLY BECAUSE WE CALLED THEM) that we didn’t have one, so we had to scramble to find a place last minute that we could get into and not be late for the concert.
Arrived at restaurant on time for our reservation for 2. Host sat two parties before us who were walk-in diners. We were then told that there were no more available tables and it would be a 25-30 minute for a table. So my recommendation is don’t bother to make a reservation. They have no idea what the word reservation means. I rated them poor for that reason. We did not eat there as we declined to wait 30 minutes for a table. If you choose to eat there, ignore the rating on the food; it would not let us skip rating it.
Good thing we weren't in a rush. We ordered chicken sandwiches and it took almost an hour to get them. They seemed understaffed.
Food was bad. Beer was flat (they changed a keg after we showed it was flat). Server hung out with other servers instead of checking on our table, we had to wave at him 3 times just to get attention for a refill and to get our check. Pretty disappointing visit and likely won’t go back. There are far better options in P&L.
Amazing food and amazing service
First time there. Chiefs game weekend. Actually was easy to get into reservation wise but good food and good beer!
We had a great waiter! Food was great! We ate here before the concert and sat outside.
Great place to enjoy a beer or two and some snacks. Enjoyed talking to Tony, the bartender.
Worst dining experience I've had in years. This is not a Beer Garden, it has a small patio. Our waiter was very slow and would disappear for long periods. We were never once asked if we needed anything or how the food was. One patron would order a drink and the waiter would leave before anyone else could order. The food was terrible and had to be sent back. The restaurant was not busy, there were an abundance of waiters to a comical point but they openly stood around socializing with each other. There was a band that was very loud and we could not hear anyone during our dinner. The host never mentioned our table would be 4 feet away from the band when seating us. The whole experience was awful
We had a reservation for our anniversary,we ended up leaving after 10 min with out getting any service at all.
We checked this place out on a Sunday night with 9 people. Maybe don't bring 9 people here on a Sunday. Only one cook in the kitchen so our food took awhile which we totally understood. We were enjoying our time with our group so it was ok. They brought kids meals out first which was awesome. Our service was great and they informed us of the delay. I loved the onion rings and my burger was good. The party enjoyed the beer!
We had a great experience Friday night. We were late for our reservation but they worked to get us in quickly. The food was very tasty.
1)Food &bevrages were great! 2) Service was slow. I mean really slow and it was not over crowded by any means. We sat almost 15 minutes before a waitress came to our table. Seriously be prepared, it is a Friday night, there is the Garth Brooks concert at Sprint Center, P&LD has a big show. 3)Booking error by restaurant and Open Table and we were lucky they had room for 5. A note to Open Table and Leinenkugel Beer Garden, people who plan a night out have money to spend and we are very busy, especially 24 hours before heading out of town. Get your act together!
Reservation made for 6 pm. Got seated around 610, ordered food and drinks, and by 715, manager came by with our inept waitress and said the food was going to be another 30 minutes. Place was not even close to being packed. We decided to leave and go eat elsewhere.
Service was absolutely horrible. We waited 25 minutes to even talk to our waitress after being seated. We had to ask 3 people who our waitress was to even get that started, and one waitress rolled her eyes at us when we asked. Food took a very long time, which is expected on a busy night. But we didn't even see our waitress again until after someone else had brought our food out! And her excuse was that she was in the bathroom, for the last 40 minutes?!? Then we ordered more drinks and saw them sitting at the bar for over 5 minutes and had to ask someone walking by if they could get them for us. The place was less than half full by the time we left and there were plenty of waiters and waitresses standing around so I'm not sure what the issue was. We even missed part of our concert because it took so long. Food was decent enough and drinks were great but not planning on going back anytime soon.
The worst dining experience I have ever had. Took over 30 minutes to get our drinks. Took another hour to get our food. Food came out cold and with a hair in the tacos. Had to send everything back. They brought our appetizer out after our food came, which we ordered when we sat down. Will never go back and never recommend it.
Our order was wrong, perhaps because of the ambient noise, and the manager did a good job of trying to make it right. The appetizer (cheese curds) were great but the chicken sandwich was pretty bad. Maybe a fun place to grab a beer and some appetizers but otherwise not great.
Food was horrible.
We had a good time playing Jenga while enjoying the great beers. The noise level was very high. But most were there to watch the game so I think that's what you do at Leininkugel's. Fun atmosphere but very noisy. Hard to have a conversation.
It was so loud it was impossible to talk to anyone even sitting far away from the music. Burgers over cooked. Brat was nothing special. How can a place with "beer" in the name run out of most of the beers on the menu? Would not recommend.
We had a good time eating dinner and people watching before the Eric Church concert. The food was good. Unfortunately, they were out of the Sunset Wheat beer.
We were there for a BIG event at Sprint & they were out of 4 different beers so had to switch to cocktail which was sub par at best. Food was "ok". I suppose after a night of drinking the food would work. Server was not very attentive.
Absolutely love this place. Great food, atmosphere. Might become our new hang out!
I went here for KC restaurant week. I just relocated from a Chicago. Their cheeseburger was great. The fries were good too! I sat at the bar and had great service. Beer was cold, glass was cold. I definitely will be back
Located in a great venue, KC P&L District, Leinenkugel's should be a great go-to location. They offer a good assortment of beers and some highly unique menu items.
Service: We have been there twice - and have found the staff friendly and the assortment of menu/ beers unique. They can get overwhelmed in a big rush- but that is expected in this area.
Quality: We have not been disappointed with their appetizers which are generously portioned and quite tasty. The inconsistency comes from the entree portion of their menu. Sometimes good, sometimes bad - - - our table last visit had ordered appetizers (all loved) and the entrees were 50/50. Stick with the appetizers on the menu and you will be happy.
Ambiance : fresh, clean and unique. Hard surfaces means it can get noisy - expect that , you are block from the Sprint Center.
A good spot if you are looking for a cold one and some appetizers. You have better entree venues and many more options just steps away.
We went to Leninkeugels before a KU game. We were the first table to arrive. Service was great at first and then it went downhill as more people came in. We found out that there was only two waitstaff for the entire restaurant. We waited 45 minutes for two pitchers of beer which we ended up having to go to the bar to get ourselves after complaining. The management is to blame. I will never return again.
Server was nice, but stretched thin, and food was subpar. In a group of 6, you'd hope that at least one or two would actually like their entrees. All six of us were incredibly underwhelmed and agreed that we would not be back.
I'll be honest, the Burger was cooked satisfactorily, but so greasy on the bun, it made the bun disgusting to eat. It was the American burger I think, with bacon, cheese, lettuce and tomato. The Sunset Red beer mix was very tasty so that helped offset the Burger negatives.
I don't mind upbeat, loud places such as bar and grill type, but this was EXTREMELY loud so loud that you couldn't even hold table conversation!!!!! There was a band playing love so that did not help, thank goodness we arrived at 5:30 and they were quitting at 6pm until starting back up at 9pm. We were sat outside, which would be fine on a warm afternoon/evening, but it was a bit cool so I asked if the heater could be turned on next to our table and we were told it was empty and nothing had been delivered yet to refill the fuel.......the food was just ok, not a place I will rush to go back to unfortunately. I give ⭐️⭐️⭐️.
Went there before a concert at Sprint Center. I was running about five minutes late for my reservation and they called to make sure I was still going to make it before giving up my table so I was really impressed with the service at the beginning!
However, it quickly went downhill. It doesn't seem like anyone was assigned to our table - we had two different managers taking care of us. I got there at 5:55, flagged someone down at 6:10 to get a drink, didn't receive our drinks until 6:20. 30 minutes later we flagged another manager down to get our food.
I understand being busy and while they did take care of one drink, they were unapologetic about it and not one waiter/waitress ever looked at us and stopped to see if we were taken care of. We had to stop someone every time we wanted something. The food was decent and took about as a long as I would expect with a busy crowd, but wouldn't recommend coming back again - especially when you know it's going to be a busy night.
We made a reservation and ended up getting to the restaurant about 45 minutes early. They were able to seat us at that time and thank goodness because it took so long to get our drink order, then our appetizer order, then our dinner order that we ended up being there for almost 2 hours! We also had to track down our server to get our checks. On top of that, most of the food was cold when it came out. Our fries were cold and mushy and the burger was just "okay". The cheese curds, while brought out cold, were actually pretty decent. Overall, I would not go back here before a show at P&L. You would think for having such a big concert at Sprint Center that night that they would have staffed appropriately. I realize the slow service wasn't all our servers fault as he had so many tables to work all over the restaurant that it was hard for him to keep up. They also didn't have any of the seasonal beers that were on the menu available. Every one we tried to order was out of stock and they were the Lein-y brand! Very disappointing experience.
Got seated quickly with reservation, but took 20 min for a server to take our drink order (had to ask someone to wait on us) and another 20 to get the drinks. Food took over 45 minutes - and it was mostly apps! Arrived 1.5 hrs before concert starting time at Sprint, ended up not getting there until 30 min after show started due to slow service. Super frustrating. Understaffed is an understatement.
The drinks are much better than the food. We had beer cocktails, which were both very good. For an appetizer, we ordered the pretzel knots with cheese, which seemed to be like frozen soft pretzels. The cheese was beer flavored, but it was very thick. The turkey cobb salad had way too much dressing, and the turkey was not good quality. Cool outdoor area though.
Our party of 4 arrived a few minutes before our 6:45 p.m. reservation. There were several empty tables, and we seated right away. However, we were greeted in a less than friendly manner by a female hostess. We were also nearly run over by a male server who came up to the hostess station to yell at the male host to stop giving all of his friends wood chips.
After we had been seated, we waited for about nearly 10 minutes until someone came to our table. The girl introduced herself as Emily and advised she wasn't our server (his name was apparently Walter), but she would get us started with some drinks. She was pleasant. She took our orders and then after nearly 15 minutes she came back with our drinks and said she would be taking over our table. She asked what we would like to order to eat, but by this point, we had been there nearly 30 minutes before getting our first drink, so we declined to order food. She apologized for the slow service and offered each of us a wooden chip that was good for a free drink at a later time.
We had made plans before this to meet some friends later in the evening and did return around 10:30 p.m. It was nearly empty inside (with the exception of a guy singing and what appeared to be his friends) and a couple of other tables. We were again seated quickly, and our service was a little quicker than earlier in the evening, but everyone in our party (the four original members and 3 others we met for our later drinks) agreed that everyone who worked there seemed unfriendly.
We enjoyed the beer selection, and the food was okay, but the lack of service will make me think twice before visiting again.
It was very busy tonight due to a concert. This affected the service...not our waiters fault at all. The crowd and the concert made the noise level almost unbearable. Great food though and great beer!
Lobster tacos were delicious . Beer selection was Leinkenkugel plus many more choices, and it helped that we were offered to sample a couple . Onion rings were a great suggested appetizer . Chocolate crunch cake could have fed 4 people .
Steak was over cooked and it took forever to get a new steak.
Manager did nothing to compensate, didn't even come to our table to apologize.
Food was mediocre at best.
Will not return.
Lots of open tables but it took them several minutes to finally seat my son and I. Front desk host was the worst part. Just not pleasant. Food was good. Our server was nice. Once we got our table it was much better.
We met friends for dinner. The restaurant was not busy but It was very noisy. We had to yell to talk and couldn't hear each other. Our waiter was great, but the food was nothing special and the beer is what you get anywhere. I would definitely eat at Johnny's or Gordon Biersch before I would return to this restaurant. With that said, Leinenkugels is much better than the mexican restaurant that was there previously
The food was okay. I had lobster tacos and would be hard pressed to find any lobster in them. Beer was not cheap and the one I wanted ( Imperial Stout) wasn't available.
