A new low for Open Table
Send a review out for a restaurant that is permanently closed. Permanently closed is in your title of the review request! I guess I would rate the restaurant "closed"
To make matters worse, Open Table notified us the restaurant was closed then wouldn't allow other reservations because we already had one at the closed restaurant.

Unfortunately I will never know... restaurant was closed with a sign in the window stating
CLOSED - PERMANENTLY!

Had reservations and no one even contacted me to let me know they had closed!

Pitiful... on Open Table's part, as well!

Over priced for what you get. Lucky we had a groupon. Service was just ok. Was not crowded for a Thursday night. Portions small. Got home and ate a sandwich. Probably will not go back.

Sent to owner:

My wife and I had dinner at your restaurant. The service was excellent as was the after-dinner coffee. Perhaps you use Cafés Richard. The food however was awful. My wife had the Le Coq au Vin and I had the Cornish Hen. Part of the Cornish Hen was severely undercooked and the other part was well-done. It was almost as if the meal was cooked twice at two different times on two different plates. The rooster was better and although thoroughly cooked, was tasteless and was doused in red wine perhaps to make up the for the lack of taste. My wife and I had not been at your restaurant in 10 years, perhaps, but thought it would be great for a night out. Again, the atmosphere was good as was the service. The food was lacking.

Good wine list, great food, amazing deserts. If the specials are not what you want, the crepes are a great fall back item.

We like L'Eiffel Bistro, and have been there numerous times. The food is good, the service is usually excellent (our waitress this time was a joy). My only complaint, and it is situation-specific, was the dinner on Mother's Day. I understand that many restaurants will have a special menu, and that it will add somewhat to the non-holiday cost of dining here, but I frankly admit to some upset when a "special" oyster appetizer (for $25) turned out to be 3 oysters on half-shell, one of which was undersized, with a modest dollop of corn chowder on top.

The escargot (not on the special menu, but they kindly made it for us) was very good. The Lobster Pappardelle was delicious, the white chocolate cheesecake was a pleasure, our waitress (again) could not have been better. But that pricey and minuscule oyster appetizer still grates on me.

We were there for the Mother's day but there was a different menu from the usual dinner menu. The choices were limited with one soup, one salad, three appetizers, four entrees and two desserts. So our favorite dishes were not available that day. We ordered four entrees instead of shopping for another place last minute. The rooster with potatoes was the best that day, everybody found it tasty. The lobster pasta received mixed to fair review. The Thai fusion dish with tofu was simply disappointing, the curry flavor was so mild that nobody found it close to the usual Thai flavor we like. Overall it was a disappointing mother's day dinner; we for sure won't repeat it next year at this place.

We've been here before and was very pleased. However this time around, I made a reservation on Open Table and made a specific note saying it was for a birthday- hoping to make the experience a little more special for the occasion.

They disregarded that completely and sat us at an awkward table and didn't mention anything at all. Our server seemed really new and inexperienced and was slightly awkward. We felt rushed and disappointed compared to our last experience. I wish they would've done a little something special because it was a special occasion. Food was still good- drinks were great. Ambiance and service were disappointing.

Went for Easter lunch and very much enjoyed the experience. The service was good, food came out fast and hot. The quiche lorraine my mom had was unexpectedly very large and she took 1/2 home. Everything was seasoned nicely. The dining room was nice and bright and server attended our table well.

We enjoyed a pleasant brunch at this French themed restaurant. Even with GPS the location was a little tricky--it is at the far end of a very nice shopping center, with a small awning sign, not easily visible. Our beverages were good. The food was disappointing and breads were not included in with the order (not stated in the menu).I did not find this place to have authentic fare.

Clean and comfortable seating with tables or L-shaped booths. Good place to go for something that you don't make at home. Could be romantic, save the French CD droning in the background. The French wouldn't have had to force the Americans out of France after the Americans liberated France, if they would have only played this music. The Americans would have left on their own.

The salad that comes with your crepe is sort of skimpy, but good. The crepes are excellent. I had the cajun version and my wife had the seafood. At the end of the meal, our plates were clean.

Our waitress, Sarah was delightful.

A very nice French restaurant - not a whole lot of those around. Great food and service (a little side note; our table was a little drafty and after we mentioned it to our server, a change was promptly man which made the rest of our meal more comfortable). My lamb shank was absolutely fabulous. Appetizers and entrees are the stars here - desserts not so much. Nice wine list is a plus. All in all, a nice experience in one of the few French places around.

The food was absolutely amazing. My only complaint, though it's more of a wish list, is that the servers be more able to discuss details of dishes when asked. Of course that could have just been our server. When I asked for dish details to help choose between the escargot or mussels as an appetizer, I was told one was bigger than the other. We did receive a wine recommendation from another employee that was perfect, so maybe our attendant was new to the restaurant.

Food was wonderful. I had the Cajun Scottish salmon, which was a bit more highly spiced than I would have liked, but it still didn't mask the superb quality if the fish. The goat cheese in the salad was to die for! Our waiter was very attentive to my dietary needs. My only complaint is that the chairs are terribly uncomfortable!

My only complaint is that a couple of dishes could have been hotter when they were served; my guess is that the server was busy (Saturday night) and was having trouble getting orders out as quickly as she might have liked. That said, the service was good and courteous, and the quality of the food was excellent. My family members all enjoyed their evening, and we will all be back.

This used to be our favorite place. Great atmosphere, dim lights, nice music, good food...
Last couple of times however, we noticed the difference. And it's not good. I think the owner changed, the cook changed, even the waiters!
It seems no one cares about customer service any longer. Our food tasted like nothing-tasteless, yet pricey! Our waitress was barely understandable... the only time she smiled was when she brought the check. Overall very disappointed, and sad, because like I said it used to be a really nice place.

I had been looking for a nice little, romantic restaurant to take my wife for our 25th Anniversary. You know, the kind of intimate setting where you could look into your partners eyes, reminisce, talk with each other and actually hear what your partner is saying. With all the chain restaurants now, I thought this wasn't a possibility. Then I found, tucked in the corner of a mall in South Barrington, L'Eiffel Bistrot. Checked it out online and thought, hummm, maybe this will work. To my surprise it met my criteria and more. Walking in, we were immediately greeted and asked if we wanted to sit at the bar, since we were a bit early for our reservation. My wife had made the comment earlier, she hoped we would get a table tucked away from everyone. I told her don't count on it. Sure enough were escorted, exactly at the time requested, to the perfect spot, which made my wife smile with that “I win” look. To get to the point, the evening was everything I had hoped. Perfect setting. Perfect service, our server Jessica was informative, charming, fun to talk with and attentive (without being overly so). Our meal was delightful, more than expected and the price was reasonable. Our server, Jessica, surprised us with a glass of champagne and written in French, in chocolate, was Happy 25th Anniversary on our dessert plate. If you are a romantic, enjoy well prepared French food or just want to get away from the noise of the large chain restaurants, THIS IS THE PLACE. We highly recommend L'Eiffel Bistrot. As Julia Child would say, “Life itself is the proper binge.” Bon Appétit!
