Always very good. The owner is always attentive and the waitstaff are excellent. Great variety. The best Indian food in Central Virginia!
Lehja is the best Indian food in town and one of the best restaurants in town period. Everything we had was delicious! The chaat was amazing, samosa were perfect, cauliflower was perfectly spiced. Entrees were all so good that we couldn’t pick a favorite. Can’t wait to go back.
Me and my friends from Randolph-Macon College went here to get some food out by Short Pump mall, and all of us agreed it was worth it as we shared samosas for our appetizer and chicken tikki masala for the main course. We had two different desserts that really sealed the deal for us!
Delicious food! Attentive service. We had a nice family celebration there.
We keep coming back for the food, which is always wonderful, the personal attention even on busy nights from Sunny, the owner, and the classy and contemporary ambiance. Always a home run!
This was my Husband’s and I second time visiting the restaurant. The service is good and the menu is adaptable to our dietary needs ( i.e. no meat ). Great restaurant!
We had a very good meal. Our waiter was very helpful and made very good suggestion on what to order. We will be back.
The food was tasty and better than run-of-the-mill choices. The atmosphere was nothing special - diner-like except for the zebra floor. But if I don’t return, it wll be because of the very slow, indifferent, and forgetful servers.
The food and service of Lehja are always superb. The dining experience is made special by the unobtrusive personal attention and guidance with menu options
Don't shy away from LEHJA because you don't think that you like Indian food. LEHJA will change your mind. The food is outstanding and if you are not sure what to order, get Sonny to suggest something that you will like.
Wonderful place to explore the tastes of India. Friendly staff happy to dial up or down the heat/spice and give you enough help to try something new. The food is fabulous!
If I had to pick somewhere to have my last meal, it would be Lehja.
The food was delicious though a little pricey. We went Valentine’s Day and unfortunately a family was seated next to us with a child that could not sit still. He kept throwing his toy across the room. At one point the dad turned a tv show on his phone at full blast. It was not a relaxing evening to say the least. The service wasn’t great but the food was very good so I’ll give it another shot. Will not go there for a special occasion again though.
The food is always delicious and the service is outstanding. Love this place!
Continues to best the best in Richmond. Nominated for a restaurant of the year and chef of the year!
This was our first time visiting Lehja and every aspect of the meal impressed us, including the drinks, appetizers, entrees, and service. Our waiter was helpful and really knowledgeable about the menu, offering suggestions tailored to each person's interests, and the owner came around during our meal to make sure everything was perfect. I had one of the cocktails made with tequila and chilis. The drink was spicy but really well made and balanced. I ordered the lamb Biryani, and the meat was so tender it melts in your mouth.
Fantastic dining experience. Perfect on every level.
How was our experience at Lehja? "Astounding" would be an understatement. The food is extraordinary. I have read extensively about alteration of India's cuisine to suit the American palate, never a successful ploy. There is none of this nonsense at Lehja. The flavors, textures, variety are all of the highest standard. If the quality of the offerings were not enough, the attention to detail by the staff goes beyond all expectation. Our young server was knowledgeable about every item and provided articulate, friendly responses to our inquiries. Every dish was just as he described. He made suggestions to help us avoid repetition so that we would experience the full breadth of Lehja's menu. Each table receives a visit from the owner, who is friendly, justifiably proud of his creation, and intent on the satisfaction of those who visit Lehja. Despite these superlatives, it's not break-the-bank expensive. What a wonderful dining experience!
The food was outstanding and the service was friendly, helpful with the menu, and quick.
Lehja is one of our favorite restaurants in the region. However, 3 weeks ago my husband and I started a weight loss program but still wanted to eat out the night of our visit, so we went into the restaurant fully expecting to blow our diet. In looking over the menu, we veered away from our usual indulgent selections and realized how many of their dishes were perfectly acceptable to our diet plan. I asked the server to recommend the kitchen's best vegetarian dish and immediately he pointed me to a dish that was incredibly healthy, low in diet points and absolutely delicious. My husband ordered a shrimp dish that was equally healthy and delicious. I also have to point out that in spite of the swanky/high traffic atmosphere of Lehja's location in Short Pump Town Center, the staff and manager of this restaurant are so doting and personable every single time we've visited. Always a wonderful experience!!
Food was flavorful although portions were quite small for price. Service started out great. Once entrees were delivered our server seemed to just disappear. There are too many excellent restaurants in Richmond to select this one again.
Prompt service, great recommendations by our water, broad menu with something for everyone attentive staff and outstanding food. Highly recommend for those who already love Indian food and those who want to learnt o love it. Best Naan in town too!
Amazing food! Best Indian food I have had in Virginia.
Food was outstanding as always, the staff is always nice. Quality/service never fails to exceed expectations.
You do not get to be the BEST RESTAURANT IN RICHMOND - without all five star rating. I would HIGHLY recommend. OUTSTANDING.
The garlic naan was a tip off that the food would be top notch. Feather light with marvelous seasoning and crisp bottom crust, it was sheer delight, as was everything we ordered. We shared the scallop appetizer, and had the vegetable croquets with fig stuffing and a wonderful lamb dish as main course. It was hard to choose, we could come back 3-4 times without needing to repeat a dish we’d like to try.
We had a wonderful time. Staff was very attentive.
Excellent food. Since I didn't recognize many of the dishes, the waiter walked me through the choices and offered superb recommendations.
Best Indian restaurant in Richmond, and probably one of the best on the East Coast. Sonny, the owner, personally makes each guest feel that he/she is the most important diner in the restaurant, is ready with recommendations and will happily prepare dishes that are not on the menu. While you can get traditional standards like Chicken Tika Masala, try one of the more innovative items on the menu as well. Lovely ambiance, quiet enough for conversation. Don't let the shopping mall location keep you away!
The food was very good, and the staff was extremely polite and helpful. They have a brunch menu on the weekends that is modestly priced.
Staff was so helpful in bringing delicious food for a wide range of tastes, from one who ordered a dish "Indian hot" to a cautious eater who had not eaten Indian food before. We all left happy.
The evening was spoilt by a squealing baby who should have been left at home at 830pm.
The food was exceptional, as was our service. Pretty restaurant. They were very attentive, but not overly so. Our brief conversation with the manager was lovely. Our server bought us dessert for our anniversary. Can't wait to go back!
First time there. Waiter was outstanding and spent a lot of time reviewing menus with us.
Food was really good. The appetizer was outstanding.
Will go again
It was fantastic as always
Food was very tasty, service excellent, very good first impression, food is very good, enjoyed my dish which was made spicy to my liking.
Splendid dinner. Do not miss the crab appetizer - very delicately seasoned dish that was just terrific. Also, the cocktail made with black-cherry infused Maker's Mark is delicious. And our entrees were very tasty. We'll be back.
We were very pleased with the lamb vindaloo, chicken tikka masala, and vegetable korma. Flavors were perfect. The naan was also fantastic.
The atmosphere was nicely understated and relaxed. The appetizer and main entrees were tasty but the service a bit spotty. Looking forward to going back again and trying some of the other menu items.
Creative menu with delicious taste!
