From steaks, chops and creative daily specials, Legno is sure to satisfy your senses.
Our interior design reflects the significance of the word, ‘legno’, pronounced (LEH-nyoh), which means ‘wood’ in the Italian language. A perfect mix of blended wood tones, exposed red brick & warm glow from the blaze of our wood fired oven creates a cozy & inviting ambiance. Staying true to our roots, we capture the traditionally inspired & impeccable fresh tastes of the Old World cuisine with a contemporary twist.

Food was great but wish I knew they had a Valentine Day menu. Waitress needed help was not the greatest took forever to come back to us.
Always a fantastic experience! Consistently delicious food.
I was in the area & was suppose to meet a friend at Legno as it was the closest restaurant on OpenTable that I thought had a gastro pub menu that looked interesting. Well, my friend couldn’t make it, but it was not only a well-appointed restaurant but the service on a Thursday afternoon was great by the bartender, David Rich! He knew his drinks as I was around for happy hour—made me a cocktails & served me awesome foods that I love to sample a variety in a new restaurant, (bc I’m a former Restauranteur of a global restaurant in the burbs.) The beautiful restaurant/gastro pub vibe would fit right along downtown Chicago west loop with any hip restaurants. Thank you, David Rich, for my 1st experience...and the next time I’m in the Portage Pk area of Chicago, I will definitely stop in again!😊 Mary MG
I have passed Legno on the way to work throughout the year and finally got to try it out. It turned out to be a great meal. I think it was called the Arancini appetizer, that was very tasty! The Tomato Bisque soup was very flavorful. We split the Lobster mac which was more like an alfredo sauce, it was very rich and big pieces of lobster. I must say the best part of all was the gelato we got for dessert, such a wonderful flavor and with cookie dough!
Meh, start to finish. Food looked beautiful but salad wasn’t at all as described on menu - wilted and flavorless. Grilled octopus was lukewarm. Also - - the whole place needs a good scrubbing.
This is such a nice neighborhood spot. It's casual with nice up to date decor, a friendly bar crowd, great seating for dining with family or friends. The food is quite good, the service very good, parking, and a menu to please all. From burgers, to pasta and Vesuvio brick chicken. Noise level lively, but not challenging for conversation.
Our food was amazing but our waitress, not so much. The rest is the staff was attentive in her absence.
We come here every year on Christmas Eve and Legno does not disappoint. The food was excellent and the service was outstanding!!
Legno was pretty quiet when we went for brunch with friends on a Sunday during holiday season, although they were having a breakfast with Santa next door which reduced the turnout, we were told. The wait staff is very friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere is casual but classy. The food is decent but not great. I had the minestrone, which I don't recommend. Those in our party who had omelets enjoyed them. The arancini were very good. My husband's crab Benedict was only average. The fried potatoes that accompanied the egg dishes were only fair. I'd go back, but I'd try some different menu items next time.
Jeff and his crew are the BEST, I highly recommend Legno for Price, quality and quantity.
Had to wait 30 minutes for our table even though had reservation. Service was a little slow. Food was great and wine excellent
Very good neighborhood restaurant. Have gone many times and will go again. Excellent service.
The food was pretty amazing from the brussel sprouts, califlower, octopus and the chicken :) yummy food definitely will go back.
Food was great, unlimited mimosas even better, but constantly having to look for and wait for our server...not so good!
Another great visit. Outstanding food and service. Very reasonably priced. Thanks.
It was a packed, busy place which was fun when we first arrived which makes it loud but still good ambiance. The problem was with the food. Apps were very good and it went straight downhill from there. Two of my guests ordered risotto (one mushroom and one lobster). They were inedible. Not only very watery but way way too salty. We were embarrassed to send them back - the waitress wasn't thrilled - but came back from the kitchen to say that yes, in fact there was something wrong with the stock. Ya think?????
We ordered one pizza (horrible) and one salmon (just ok).
We won't return.
Over all the experience was good. I bit more casual than I expected. It was a special occasion and wanted something a bit more dressed up and adults only environment. Website showed it to be a bit more glitzy. Would go back for a date night but not special occasion
It was a birthday. We let them know. We ordered dessert. They had no idea and never acknowledged the occasion.
Otherwise, the service was slightly better then mediocre.
We have been going to legno for several years. And this was the 1st time that we had terrible service. I brought 6 other women with me and it was kind of embarrassing. They all said that the food was great but the service was terrible.
Food is good and price is great. The pizza taste fresh, and they got this amazing appetizer - their Legno Cauliflower & Brussels Sprouts. Great selection of beers also.
FISH WAS TOO WELL DONE---VERY DRY!
SPAGHETTI DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH SAUCE!
GREEK SALAD WAS SMALL FOR THE PRICE!
CARROT CAKE WAS GOOD......
I am sooooo tired of their menu. The waiters are nice and it’s family friendly but the food is so boring. My husband and I keep waiting for them to change it up a bit.
No return bad bad news bad news do not go there preppy not good Italian restaurant
Server and food were excellent!
There was no service. Was seated and then waited twenty minutes for wait staff which did not come .
Three other tables arrived after we were seated and were greeted by three different waiters. Decided to leave and went to another restaurant. Used to recommend Legno to others but not any more.
Food was terrible. Very play-doh like mozzarella on pizza
Extremely excited to see stuffed zucchini flowers (it's seasonal) it took me back to our southern Italy trip in positano
We are new to the neighborhood, previously living in Lakeview, and are very impressed by Legno and other gems in the neighborhood. We will definitely all be back together or with other friends.
Great service, lovely food with a nice atmosphere. Good value and easily a regular spot.
We have been to Legno several times in the past and this was our least favorite due to lack-luster service. The restaurant was not busy, perhaps 1/3 full, and our server did not put her best foot forward. Twice we had to ask a second time for the same thing and one time had to get up and go get it from the serving station area. We did not make unrealistic demands and were patient but our food would have been cold had we not got up and caught out what we needed. The food was good but the server definitely made the dinner less enjoyable.
We waited over an hour to get our food, and when it finally arrived (after we complained) it was lukewarm at best.
The waitstaff also appeared to be working all the tables, so it took a long time to get refills on drinks etc
Will not return
Very disappointed as this is a neighborhood restaurant
We were so happy to discover this location and loved their happy hr specials, such as 1/2 price wines or 1/2 pizzas depending on the day of the week
The fried calamari was good. Crispy not soggy. I didn't like the sauce it was served with. It was sour tasting. I was looking forward to eating here for their Italian style wood burning oven pizza and unfortunately I was disappointed. The pizza was not even hot when it was served. The dough/crust tasted okay but the sauce was awful. It tasted like raw tomato sauce straight out of a can. My sister got the white pizza with spinach and ricotta and it was the worst one of all the pizza's we got. It was bland and had no taste to it at all. We got gelato for dessert but i guess not many people order it because it literally had chucks of ice in it like it had freezer burn. The staff was nice and the place is nice but the food was not good so I won't be going back.
Very much enjoyed our first visit there. Delicious food, great atmosphere and wonderful staff. Thank you for making our Anniversary Date a day to remember!
We really want to like this place, as it is local and as far as we know, independent, but our first experience wasn't amazing. Calamari was pretty good and hot, and our salads were good although one of the salads out of five arrived a full 15 minutes after the other four. It took at least 20 minutes to get our drinks, maybe longer. A wrong appetizer was left at our table, and our server was just always gone for a really long time. It was quite strange, as the restaurant was nearly empty. Our entrees were just ok and were not hot. We will give it another try, but we are hoping that they can step up their service a lot and their food quality too.
This is a great p;lace for food with family/friends/date!
The food is amazing, staff are friendly and professional.
Will visit soon.
Hard to be a vegan at this place
Great value. Decent food and wonderful location. Varied menu with something for all palates.
Excellent food and service!
Everyone in our party enjoyed a different dish!
Really good food. Very nice staff. They were very accommodating for my sister in a wheelchair also
