Legends of Notre Dame Ratings and Reviews
Service was poor - waitress said she would bring drink refills, but never did. Three of our group of eight ordered burgers cooked medium and they were all dry. Two were supposed to have a whiskey sauce, but we ended up having to put ketchup on them. It was our first time eating here, and we were excited to eat on campus before an ND basketball game. We won't go back.
I always enjoy Legends. The food is good. The wait staff is always happy (sometimes very busy). The atmosphere is ND happy. It is fun to see the sports on the TV. It has a busy atmosphere, but you are still able to talk with friends. Good for reservations, but also good to drop in. Come if you are hungry. Sometimes the lettuce is wilted. Time to update the menu for those who visit often, but a lot of good choices for those who have just discovered this restaurant (maybe add an Italian entree and sandwich).
We ate there after attending a performance at the Morris Civic . We were seated promptly, given time to read the menu and the food arrived in a timely manner. Food and service was good. It was the first time we visited Legends but it will not be the last.
It was also the first time I used Open Table...convenient amd easy to use.
From the moment we walked in the staff was attentive yet not overbearing. The waitress offered options as you don't have French or Western salad dressing and her recommendation was spot on. Our meal came in a timely manner The steak was slightly undercooked to my order medium rare, but the taste and the tenderness made up for that. Our soft drinks were not allowed to get less than 1/3 full before we were asked about another. The decor Notre Dame all the way and the history that is on the walls is a pleasant concept. I will definitely recommend and will definitely return.
Food, as always, was excellent, however the service was TERRIBLE. Worst I've ever experienced at Legends. Our server walked past our table several times without asking if we needed more drinks. We placed our empty glasses at the end of the table and he still walked past! Our main course arrived before we'd received our soup/salad. We had to ask for our soup/salad. Finally, we had asked for mild sauce for the chicken fingers and what we received was Frank's straight out of the bottle. It was NOT mild. Other than the sauce, the food was delicious. Based on prior experiences at Legend's, I would still recommend it for the food, however, if the service does not improve I will not be back.
My wife and I stopped her after dropping our daughter off at Notre Dame. The Rueben sandwich I had was excellent and the best I’ve ever had. There was also a nice selection of beers. Waitress was very helpful. My wife had the Fall Salad and gave it high marks.
The value was good but like most sports atmospheres it was somewhat noisy.
We will be returning.
Great evening last Thursday night for dinner as we were up for the Georgia game. Like everyone at Notre Dame everyone at Legends was very friendly and hospitable. Fabulous Ribeye steak at a fair price and a good wine list good ambiance. Thank you. Ed and Cathy Crossett, Atlanta, GA.
We've been several times, since we live in the area & are ND fans. It was lively and fun. The food isn't great, but ok. The service was slower than you'd expect, however, it was a very busy night with so many out of town people there for the upcoming football game so we weren't upset by this. We were there for Trivia which was fun!
My group decided on the Legends of Notre Dame because of it's location on campus and since it was the first time in South Bend for most of us. I was surprised that it felt a little like I was eating in a university dining establishment. Not like a cafeteria, the food and drink were good and restaurant quality, but sort of like the "nice place" most campuses have these days. It wasn't the "Notre Dame" experience I was thinking it would be. Eddy St may have been a better choice.
We met up with some other parents the weekend we all brought our freshman to Notre Dame. We had a lot of fun. The service and food were very good for a sports bar! I didn't mark outstanding b/c this is not your $100/person steak place, but for bar food, it was very good! We were able to make reservations and got seated on time. It is loud but we were all talking loud. We had a very fun evening here in a convenient location!
