The door was unlocked before the restaurant hours. I didn't know and I was a few minutes early. Went in and instead of letting me know that they are still closed, a few staff members were hanging out in the back with me in full view but never and I mean never paid attention to my existence!!! I looked at them, they looked at me and nothing!!! Suggestion: if they need to open their door for the employees, then put a sign on the door showing their hours so there's no question that they are still closed!!!The service Philip was very attentive, the hostess Margie was all right.
We had a team lunch and all enjoyed our visit. Food was good and our server was awesome! Personally my husband and I frequent Left Bank often and this visit was one of the best thus far!
Our waiter at first was having a really bad day. After we noticed he was spoken to by the manager, our service couldn’t be better. The table next to ours had a similar experience. On his behalf, the restaurant was insane with too many customers. I have to remember to not visit Left Bank during the holidays.
Food was fantastic; attentive service even though they were very busy. Would definitely return.
Server had an attitude all throughout the dining experience. Will probably request a different server if I see her again.
Had a birthday party here with eighteen people - I have had a variety of experiences with groups this large, some good and some disorganized - and Left Bank handled a group this size effortlessly. Service was friendly and attentive, meals were well-paced and the food was honestly much better than I was expecting for a Santana Row restaurant. I thought it would be competent and slightly overpriced, and instead I was greeted with the tenderest of lamb shanks, the polenta also prepared perfectly. Well worth the $28 entree price. The cocktails were strong, the complimentary dessert for my birthday was one of the best cream puffs I have had...
Just a great experience all around. Will certainly return!
Extremely good service. Food was great. Nice table.
Mother's 85th birthday celebration with some of her family members. The waitress was very attentive, checked in often, and the food was delivered in a timely manner. We even received french fries as an appetizer, free from the kitchen.
I have to say, though, that the room is quite loud, making it quite difficult to hear somebody even if they're right next to you.
It would've been a more intimate setting and enjoyable dining experience had it been quieter.
The open kitchen make whole restaurant smoky. My mom keep coughing during whole meal. All our clothes were smelly after we came out of the resturant. It's very noisy too, we had to shout each other at the same table. Overall , not a good experience. Will not come back again.
Everything was great except we had to wait even though we had reservations- in all fairness they were super busy
We had requested a booth & the host tried to cram us in a table in the bar ( super noisy ) the manager saw our displeasure and placed a table in another area to accommodate us . It wasn’t the booth we wanted but had good food and great service
Once again i understand it’s the holidays & they were busy
An hour wait for a 6:30 reservation is unacceptable, and defeats the purpose of having a reservation. Forced to take table at the bar in order to be seated sooner, and it was *really* loud there. The food was good, though, and our server was attentive.
Left Bank is a favorite with me and my friends and regular dinner companions - especially those who either are French or who appreciate French cuisine!
Service was great!
Victor was our server and was very attentive and helpful.
The manager stopped by and was extremely gracious!
However all had a great time!
It's always a pleasure to dine here. Our service was great, and the food was delicious as always. I got the roasted chicken, and my husband ordered the seafood risotto special. Our kids enjoyed French onion soup, which was loaded with cheese just the way they like it. We also ordered the fondue appetizer, and the server was kind enough to bring a plate of vegetables for dipping since my husband is gluten free. They even offered a dessert with a candle in it for my birthday. It was a lovely experience, and we'll be back again soon.
Disappointed. This is regular for us. We had requested a specific type of table and were given a very poor table. As a frequent visitor with a reservation, they should have worked harder to have our table or at least apologized and not given us one of the worst tables in the house.
The service timing was poor. They brought out the main course when we had not even finished the appetizers. The waiter really wanted to leave it with us on the table that was already too small. I needed to be very insistent that he needed to take it back to the kitchen. The manager came to our table and offered a very general apology (sort of). He should have apologized for the specific issue and maybe even offered something complimentary.
We had a reservation, and still had to wait 20 minutes for our table. They seated us in the bar area rather than the nice dining area and there was heavy traffic around our table. When we were seated, it was another 15 minutes before a server came by to take our order .
That said, once or server came by, we were treated well and the food was excellent.
The food was delicious but the service was slow. Main course was brought while we were still eating the appetizer and we waited forever for a glass of wine to go along with the main course. It was very busy with many tables had a large group at them. It seemed like they were overwhelmed or didn’t have enough service people to cover the crowd or both. Buried in all of this was that the main course was great and the dessert was delicious. Will go back but not on a Friday night or the weekend.
I would recommend but would caution about the service.
Wonderful Food and service was great, very nice meal!
Great for pre event dinner. Hoped for more gluten free options. Would love menu to reflect that.
We eat here quite often. Always enjoyable.
The experience was good although my menu choice was a disappointment. The Quiche Lorraine had a crust that was so hard even a knife could not cut through it. A nice restaurant, especially in the back area where there are booths. An off-day for the quiche cook, though.
Food has to be delivered when it comes up.....otherwise good service goes to waste!
I brought three of my best friends here to celebrate our fall birthdays and we had a wonderful time. The service was friendly and exceptional. We are eating before our spa appointments and they paid attention to our time restraint. Every dish was outstanding! Have been here many times before and it doesn't ever disappoint! Will come again soon!
Thanksgiving dinner at the Left Bank was very enjoyable. The food and the service were very good
This was the 4th year in a row that my son, daughter-in-law and I came here for Thanksgiving. My son always has the turkey dinner and my daughter in law and I always have risotto. Needless to say, the restaurant, service and food is really excellent. We will see you again next year.
Amazing Thanksgiving dinner
The problem with Left Bank is their inconsistency. You can have a great meal there or a really bad one. They do not have anyone really watching the pass so you have to rely on your waiter or waitress and they just do not seem to have the authority or the will to say "I'm not serving that". My husband and I have eaten there on Thanksgiving before and it was very good. This year it was not. I ordered the pork just to have the au gratin potatoes, however mine came smeared across my plate, when I saw other orders passing by the au gratin potatoes were served in a 2 inch high square, plus my brussel sprouts were cold. My husband also had cold sides. So when eating at Left Bank, at $150.00 per couple, you need to ask yourself... Do I feel lucky? It's a 50/50 shot if you get a good meal or not!
Went for the Thanksgiving dinner. The menu was similar to the Plumed Horse Thanksgiving dinner....butternut soup was good, plumed horse was better....Salad was bitter, chopped poorly, hard to eat, plumed horse was MUCH BETTER, turkey was EXCELLENT...much better than plumed horse...stuffing was good, equal to plumed horse....potatoes were good, same as plumed horse. Pumpkin pie was EXCELLENT, way way better than plumed horse dessert...the restaurant was LOUD, the service was average...Plumed horse restaurant is elegant and more relaxed and the service is the best i have ever experienced...now the money....Left Bank was a steal of a deal...4 courses for $56. Plumed horse is well over $100. Times 5 of us! I would like to find a holiday restaurant in between the Left Bank and Plumed Horse. If i cant, i would go back to Plumed Horse...
Went on Thanksgiving. One of the best holiday meals ever!!
As a vegetarian there is little for me unless I come for weekend brunch. Lunch is a problem. But I do bring friends here to treat them to a pleasant experience.
Great night at Left Bank
Santana Row is a winter wonderland with the many lights and beautiful Christmas tree
The food was amazing. We enjoyed the fondue with pomme frites to start. ONG so yummy.
I would recommend the trout almandine. Very well done the carmelized onions and almonds.
Our server maids was fabulous. Very attentive and professional
Definitely our go to restaurant
I had the lamb sandwich, it was too heavy, does not need the mayo. The egg and steak, steak was well done we asked for mid-rare. Service was slow. Best part was the cheese plate which does not require cooking.
Food was not consistent and was slow to arrive. I had an egg sunny side up and it was totally burnt.
Great restaurant for brunch. We had great service and a great seat. Food was fantastic!
Poor. Will not go back
Great service, food, and space!
We had a business lunch here--our request for an inside table away from the door was gracefully honored. Our server was attentive but not pushy and, when we realized we were about to running a bit late toward the end, was able to get us dessert and our check without making us feel rushed but also allowing us to leave on time. Food is very good, very reliable; and our server had good suggestions and was informed about which items on the menu were gluten-free or could be made that way. I've never had anything here that wasn't good and have been coming here for years. I don't give it an "extraordinary" because I reserve that rating for truly exceptional experiences with service and cuisine--e.g., Chez Panisse--level establishments. This is a regular stop for myself and my husband as well a for my department at work. One of the things I like about Left Bank is that you never feel rushed; don't plan on getting in and out in under an hour unless you check with them first. For me, this is a plus!
Wonderful food service experience
