Never disappointed at Left Bank! Great food and drinks, love the ambiance, and perfect for anything from a date night to group outing.
Good food and service. One meal was only warm but the others were hot. Total bill with a couple of drinks, desserts, tax and tip was about $60 per person.
I took my wife and daughter for a post-Valentine's Day dinner at Left Bank Brasserie and we were all amazed by the food, the service, and the ambiance. Fantastic food! I loved the Lamb Shank and was told it was marinated in wine for 48 hours before being cooked. My wife took a seafood entree, which was amazing too. Even my daughter was pleased with the food here and she is a fussy eater! Our server was amazing...ask for Enrique, if you can! He took real good care of us and explained each entree, suggested entrees, drinks and even dessert...all of his choices were just perfect!!
We love the fondue fromage--always order it. Hamburger and fries and a glass of wine. What more could you want on rainy night out?!
Unfortunately, less than impressed. Initial course was fantastic; however, by the main, I was disappointed.
Great food, fun ambiance inside.
Great Valentines Day dinner. Food and ambience was great. Loved spending the night with my wife.
Lisa the manager was absolutely fantastic as was our waitress!
This was our second time coming for lunch. Wait staff was wonderful and friendly, food was terrific. We started with glasses of Tattinger. My husband had porcini mushroom ravioli in a cream sauce, I had the incredible lamb sandwich with a generous portion of crisp and tender fries.
Desserts were the creme brulee and fondant au chocolat - to die for - great way to spend Valentine's Day. We love the afternoon ambience and the friendly vibe.
Good food good service . My server did excellent job.
If you like French go ahead it’s good. Not for children or people who don’t like french
We meet our kids for brunch at Left Bank Santana Row on a regular basis. Beautiful restaurant, great food and located at Santana Row, which is always a fun place for shopping and just strolling down the street.
I have been to the left bank many times and always enjoy the ambiance and feel of a Brasserie for a drink or quick bite before a movie or shopping in the area. The Saturday evening dinner with my wife included a great bottle of wine, and a nice bustling ambiance seated in the area facing the open kitchen. The meal though was a bit of a mixed bag though. I had the 8 oz steak frites and my wife had the Coq au vin. The steak was cooked perfectly with a nice char on the outside and medium rare/rare on the inside. The flavor was very good though a bit over salted. The Coq au vin was a bit disappointing as it was maybe a bit lacking some flavor, and there were not enough mushrooms included in the dish. We also had the smoked salmon tart flambe as an appetizer, it came as a very large portion to share served like a pizza on a round cracker crust. I might recommend this as an entree due to it's size, but the smoked salmon over leaks was delicious and filling. Overall, the experience was very nice, especially due to the great wine, ambiance, and excellent service, even if the entree's were a a little disappointing.
Love the food and service. Recommend getting a reservation.
Awesome food and awesome company!
Came in around 515 on a Saturday, Host was rude and told us the entire restaurant was booked until 8 pm even the bar area and we needed a reservation. Looked around the restaurant and it was 3/4 empty. Pulled out my phone and there were several reservations open so I booked a table for 530 right in front of the host. Overall service was eh. Happy hour food and price was good though.
Saturday lunch - busy, energetic, noisy. Waiter was smarmy and somewhat pushy - then seemed to forget about us. Niçoise salad with tuna was excellent. Garlic pork sausage hash ok, heavy. Decent wine selections.
Food was decent, though not a complete menu was disappointing. The request of the birthday girl for an "off the brunch menu" item was ungraciously refused. They forgot to light the candle to keep the cheese fondue warm, service was slow and not particularly polite. Meh.
Service is always good at Left Bank. Servers and Staff are attentive and knowledgeable. Depending on the dish, portion sizes can be an issue at times. But, it is French, so set your expectations accordingly. Daily specials on the menu, and the preparation and presentation are good. Food arrives hot and appealing...I’ve worked through most of the menu and found their dishes to be really good overall. Noise can sometimes be an issue. It’s a large, open restaurant, so noise carries.
Good food, great truffle fries!
They remind me of the Belgian fries...
It is really difficult to find good fries in the US
Food consisent, always delicious!
Went here for a business meal--very nice and since we were early, the noise level wasn't high enough to make conversation difficult.
Seating was very uncomfortable. I believe they are going for an authentic Paris bistro or cafe style, but it should still be comfortable. The food was mediocre. Nothing special and did not seam freshly prepared. For example, creme brulee is supposed to be slightly chilled, here it was hard and looked like it had been sitting in the fridge all day, the escargots were overcooked and did not seam fresh, the steak was salty and the sauces it came with even saltier. We were a party of 7 and not impressed by the food at all.
On the bright side, service was great.
I don't mind paying a lot of money for a good meal, but if the meal is about $100 per person (including drinks, appetizers, tip and tax), it should be better than what the Left Bank serves.
Probably will skip this place unless someone takes me here for free.
Great service. Great atmosphere and good food. Can’t see what else you need. Everyone was friendly and professional. Good came quickly and was delicious. Drinks were good and the server we had was fantastic.
All good! Had trout and croque monsieur. Very good.
Food and service was great!
I would like to say that I loved it, but I can't. I had made reservations and no matter what table I asked for I was told NO. They didn't have enough staff on hand so they wouldn't let us sit anywhere desirable. The outside tables we were told that we would have to wait a half hour and yet we watched the same tables be empty the whole time we were there. We ended up grabbing a table in the bar area which we had been told we couldn't sit in the bar area either. Then we had to wait and wait for our drinks ... and we had to ask for bread to be served to us. Don't know what has happened to the LeftBank, but we will definitely think twice before going back again.
Service is excellent as always !
Extremely loud atmosphere (had to raise my voice at a table of 4 to be heard) and average to slightly-above average food. Service is passable. It’s fine but in this price range there are several better options in the San Jose area. If you’re stuck at Santana Row, you could to worse, however.
I reserved the space for me an 2 other girlfriends to celebrate our birthdays, not mention was made to the occasion. Also, the food was not that good. Served real quick like the calamari seemed to be re heated. Not what I expected. I have gone to Left Bank in Menlo Park about 10 years ago, and it was a much nicer experience.
Always a dependable restaurant.
This was my third visit, to Left Bank, this time for a business lunch. I have previously enjoyed happy hour with friends, and brunch with my significant other. Food is *delicious*. Good portion sizes for the price.
For this visit I was with a work group for a retirement lunch. For appetizers, we shared two fondue pots for a group of eight, and this was just right. Our entrees all came out together, and we all immensely enjoyed what we ordered. Dessert/coffee was tasty as well, and we all left content.
Once the dining room filled up, folks at the end of the table had a hard time hearing everyone, but we were still able to enjoy conversation in small groups.
Food and drinks outstanding. Best mussels around and the ahi BLT is out of this world. Outdoor seating is great for people watching on Santana Row. Definitely recommend.
Wonderful menu and attentive service. The biggest downside is the noise in the restaurant-- we were there on a Monday evening, and in an area of the restaurant in which there were only a few tables seated-- yet the noise level was so high, we really struggled to have a conversation. Can't imagine what it would be like on a busy evening. If the noise level could be reduced, my rating would be MUCH higher.
We just met for apps and a glass of wine. The waiter forgot my friend’s app and didn’t check on us for snout 30 minutes. He wasn’t impressive.
Although I made a reservation at 11:30 am on Sunday, our table was right next to the kitchen counter and it was so loud and hard to carry the conversation. I understand they were busy but it took a long time for a waiter to come to take our orders. In addition, overall service was not good. They used to be better and more enjoyable. I am not sure if I go back there or not, probably not on weekend lunch time.
Service was excellent, food was even better. First dining experience here and will definitely be back
Excellent place for a birthday celebration! The filet melted in your mouth and everything else was delicious as well.
We had dinner here with relatives we hadn’t seen in many years. Staff were very patient and non intrusive as we reconnected. Food was excellent but also very expensive. 15$ for a gin and tonic seemed excessive. We loved the ambiance and comfy seating though. Overall this is one of our favorite special occasion restaurants.
