Left Bank Santana Row Ratings and Reviews
Better experience this time around since it was lunchtime on a weekday. When they get really busy they totally lose it. Hamburger was good. Butter lettuce salad was excellent. Profiteroles are also quite good too. Eggplant sandwich was not as good as it was when it had been on the menu before. It tasted like they had soaked the eggplant in vinegar.
The food is great! The ambiance was a bit loud, but that speaks to the number of people that were enjoying a nice meal when I was there. It was my first dinner there, though I've eaten lunch at this location on many occasions. Overall it was a great experience.
I came here for a birthday dinner this week. We started with the prawns & they were good. I had the duck which was a bad choice. It was undercooked, had little flavor & it was a small portion. My dining partner had the chicken which was good. It was a large portion & flavorful. I have eaten here a few times, just avoid the duck.
How nice to find really authentic French bistro food along with a nice atmosphere including white tablecloths, very good service, and decent prices. The three of us each had a delicious meal: salad Lyonnaise, risotto with duck and mushrooms, steamed mussels, and trout, followed by a nice pumpkin cheesecake, which was light and mousse-like rather than heavy. We will be back!
Overall it's a mixed review, because I don't think I would go back unless someone else really wanted to. There are so many other fine dining options here in the south bay that for the price of have better service.
I work in the wine industry and a coworker mentioned they went last year for the Beaujolais release celebration but had a mixed review. Food was good. The accordion player was wonderful. But I made reservations in advance and they sat us at the worst table when many were open. Bad because it was by a back door where they had a private party outside in a tented area on a freezing and rainy night going in and out. Cant, you sit walk-ins back there? Also, our server was mostly absent when we wanted to order wine flights so we didn't, and also must have miss communicated with the staff because our prefix dessert came before our entree.
I ordered the lamb croquet which comes with an arugala salad, however it came served with french fries and no salad. The waiter didn't comment on the change or say anything about it. We were there at 11:30, second group to be seated, so they didn't run out of salad. Two pieces of the lambwete grisselly.
Enjoy this restaurant 3-4 times a year. Went for the annual Christmas Tree lighting this particular occasion. Despite being completely overbooked they were still cheerful and did the best they could with service. The pinot noir was pretty good as was the martini. One thing they need to work on is making sure they have enough of the appropriate glassware for these busy evenings. Drinking a martini from a brandy glass just loses something.
It was as if we didn't exist. Our four member family booked reservations on Open Table in hopes of enjoying a Sunday Brunch. We arrived a few minutes ahead of our reservations on 11/12/17. The restaurant was not busy and we were seated right away. Then, we waited, and waited, and waited while servers, busboys, and even the hostesses walked right by us avoiding looking directly at us. Several times I tried to get the attention of one of the servers , but they hurried away without ever acknowledging us. Nobody ever showed up at our table to offer even a glass or water. When we finally did decide to get up and leave, the hosts who sat us down thanked us for coming in assuming we had already eaten. The manager was nowhere to be found or we would have addressed our displeasure with him/her. There is no reason for this lack of service . Even Denny's restaurants have standards that require their table staff to promptly greet and acknowledge a guest within 2 min of the guest being seated. Yet, Left Bank can't meet those standards while charging significantly higher prices.
It was a wonderful Sunday noon and we took our niece and nephew out for brunch. The food was good but the salmon wasn't done and the requested well-done hamburger was served rare. The noise level is so high that it was hard to speak across the table and hear each other. Table cloths were appreciated. The menu choices are excellent. The drink prices were the highest we've paid lately in the Bay area. ($18 for a small glass of champagne. )
Saturday night service is a little slow, but the place was completely full so that was unfortunate. However our waiter was very aware of how busy it was and came by many times to bring drinks.
Calamari was mediocre. Sauce was too lemon-y. skip it.
Boeuf bourguignon was amazing.
Pork chops with horseradish potatoes were great.
Anyone who makes a proper dirty vodka martini with vermouth is ok in my book.
After a previous visit that wasn't great, the manager, Corey Halcomb, contacted us and invited us to visit them again. We did. This time service was great. Our waitress, Mayra, was very attentive and accommodating with our orders, and food was really good. I am glad we came back. Kudos to Corey for being a great manager. Thank you Left Bank.
Heading back home from Carmel, we joined some friends from San Jose for lunch at Left Bank. Hubby and I had the Nicoise Salad which was very good and just the right portion. There's a lot into that salad. They were willing to leave off the ahi tuna and anchovies for our vegan friend. Our other two friends enjoyed their entres as well. Overall a nice lunch dining experience. Glad we took the detour to have lunch there.
Being local to San Jose we have been to The Left Bank many times. Although the food has never been great, it's usually good. It's in a prime location and has really nice outdoor seating. The past visit was TERRIBLE. They could not get the drinks or food right. The steaks were delivered cold with stale french fries, we returned them and the plates were returned hot, the fries were new but the steaks were just as cold. On the third try we gave up. We were celebrating a b-day and ordered coffee to have with the cake we brought. The coffee was warm, not hot and it tasted as if it had been made hours before. We asked for hot coffee and they returned with super hot cups and the coffee was the same. We spent a lot of money and didn't eat dinner. Who wants cold steaks! The saving grace was the super friendly server and manager. The guy was really trying to help but he is limited by an incompetent kitchen staff.
Left Bank was one of my favorite restaurant at Santana Row . This time the food was poor ( no presentation and the service was very disappointing , waiter ask me twice what’s the percentage gratitudes I want to give it’s so ignoring in front of the guests ( plus he wasn’t there at the table most of time when I needed the service). Not recommended to anyone at all. Food waited for longtime n poor taste
