FRENCH ONION SOUP
brown butter, roasted almonds, green beans
half dozen raw market selection
Under staffed. Terrible service. After an hour we left without ordering dinner.
The mother's day arrangement was a disaster. We called and confirmed with manager that we can order from the regular menu, but when we arrived, they said that we can only order from the ridiculously overpriced pre fixe menu with many items that we do not like.
No replacements, if you want to get french fries instead of mashed potato. Sorry, no french fries today
Overpriced for the overall experience. There was leftover food on the menu we were given and for over 150$ a person that should not be the case
Terrible experience on Mother’s Day. They switched out there regular menu just before we arrived for a ‘mother’s day’ menu. We ordered 3 steak dinners, food portions were tiny, asparagus and sauce were cold.
We went to Left Bank for a Mother’s Day celebration. Our meals were good, but overall, we were unimpressed by the quality and price. Our servers were very nice, but service was extremely slow and we were in the restaurant waiting much longer than we were in the restaurant eating. We were also disappointed that there was a set, very limited, expensive menu, and that we had not been informed of this when booking our reservation. Overall, the experience felt like the restaurant was trying to be much more than what it could actually offer the customer.
I reserved this place not knowing what to expect, and was very happy! Both food and service was great!
I called the restaurant to confirm the res. Inquired if I could bring my dog. The person looked up the res and said I was scheduled to be seated inside, so no dog. (Unless you sit outside.) I said Fine see you then. When we get there we are seated outside at the world's smallest table. I explained I was confirmed for inside, but there was nothing available! Really crappy beginning to what should have been a pleasant Mother's Day experience! I not apologized to nor offered any discount, free appetizer or anything. Server was extremely unprofessional on top of everything else. Oh and my son's French Toast was cold and had to be sent back. Will not be returning.
Delicious French classics, my partner's Beef Bourguignon was stunning and we both would have taken the broth as just a soup. My Duck A L'Orange was beautifully citrusy and dark meat forward when there was enough sauce for the bites of duck. Both of us loved the French Onion Soup and we would come back for that alone! My partner died in happiness with the Fondant Au Chocolat stating that all food in his life should 'be this rich' and I was in bliss with the creamy caramel Creme Brulee.
the food was good and the ambiance of santana row is always a wonderful show. while it wasn't very busy, staff wasn't very attentive and basic things (salt/pepper/napkins) were forgotten. the cheese fondue appetizer was great. still, we've been here several times and will come back.
This was me second time eating lunch at the Lunch Bank. Both times the food and service was excellent. Would definitely recommend.
Hamburgers were very dry. Service was terrible. Since it was Mother’s Day weekend, it was very busy. I noticed two waiters managing all the guests outside. It took a long time to get water and meal served. When I asked for (one) refill, I didn’t get it until we were on our way out.
The service issue was not with our waiter. He was very good. The problem started with the hosts, which affects the kitchen. There were too many full tables and the kitchen could not keep up. We waited over 30 minutes for part of our (very overcooked) order and the rest came 15 minutes after that. I realize these are trying times however, it appeared that Left Bank was being greedy rather than turning people away. I doubt I’ll ever return.
Nice place. A small menu but i got the steak and eggs. The steak was made to perfection. Would go again
Server was way to busy to take care of all her tables. Nice girl. Food was cold. Not enough ice for such a hot day.. Been there before had a better experience.
Wine selection is bad. Lamb over-cooked.
One of our favorite restaurants.
Four of us dined outside in a very nice umbrella-covered table. We each had something different to eat: Trout Almondine, Portabella Mushroom Ravioli, Nicoise Salad, and Hamburger with Pork belly topping. Everything was delicious!
New waitress needs more training. She was not familiar with the French pronunciation of some menu items (Café Ligouis). She forgot some basic utensils (cup for espresso pitcher & spoon for stirring sugar in the espresso and for ice cream).
Good waitress. Just needs a mentor. It was only her 2nd shift at Left Bank.
Santana Row has a beautiful atmosphere outside with outdoor dining and shops. Left Bank had great French cuisine. Loved the cheese fondue.
The service is always outstanding. My preference is outside dinning. Plenty of spacing and shade if needed. Sidewalk has active traffic, but as a people watcher - enjoyable.
Very dog friendly and room for the dog. Food is ok, but so is the price. So good value for the money.
Best to make reservations in advance to insure no wait and seating.
This was for my son’s birthday brunch. It started off well with the correct reservation and was able to accommodate seating outside as it was very loud inside. However, once seated, we had to wave down our server to get us started after approximately 20 min. Then as we ordered, come to find out 3 of the wanted menu items were no longer a available, the Croissant Bun Sandwich, French Toast, Omelette. How can you run out of those items at 12:30 on a Sunday Brunch. So we my sim and I ordered burgers which the bread was stale, my wife’s salmon hash was ok, little fishy, but it is salmon. Disappointed in our first visit to Left Bank which had great reviews and that’s why we picked Left Bank.
We're a regular and always enjoyed good food and good service here. However, this particular visit was a total disappointment.
Love the outdoor venue. Went during busy lunch time on a weekend and nice day, so service was not outstanding but decent.
Absolutely fantastic! The food and drink was so delicious - French Onion Soup, Escargot and Salad Lyonnais! The surprise birthday dessert was amazing - Chocolate Profiterole!
Sitting outside at the Left Bank in Santana Row was reminiscent of dining at an outdoor cafe in Paris.
Really disappointed for this dinner, service is really poor (I came here often before the pandemic and the service was really good at the time) plus I was sitting outside next to the bar which has a really loud music. Here are the disappointment I had:
- No one came to serve us (even bringing us water) after sitting down for 15-20 mins
- While waiting for the dinner, I asked for the dinner bread 3 or 4 times but still didn't come and finally it came after I finished my dinner
This was my son's birthday dinner and this bad service ruined the whole mood of celebrating his birthday. Definitely, I don't want to come here again!
This was our first lunch out since the pandemic began and Left Bank was an excellent choice to begin dining out again. The food and service were both excellent as we remembered from earlier visits.
Our first meal out at a restaurant in over 13 months. Drinks were delicious, food was perfect, and the service especially was simply the best. We can't wait to return over and over to this much-missed local gem.
Meals were great including the braised duck- scrumptious !! Would have loved to get the Moscow mules in the traditional bronze rather than standard glass !!!
4.5 out of 5 still !!!!
My son is preparing to deploy to Asia and we wanted to share a nice dinner together. We had a delicious dinner and enjoyed our visit to Left Bank. Best Old Fashioned (cocktail) on the planet!!
Great food and service. Lots of COVID-19 safe dining options
food was good, waiter seemed extra busy in the hour we were there she came to our table a total of 3 times. we had to ask for items from the bus boy. all in all a great experience still would go back.
Everything was great! Good service - Jesus was our server, he was attentive and always happy! The food was delicious, we had the oysters, the moules and the salade Nicoise. The next table is more than 6 ft away. We feel very safe.
Kind of a disappointment. Was looking forward to my Salad Nicoise but it was mainly greens. Service was super slow
Very slow, inattentive service.
We had fun trying many things. I’m
Allergic to dairy, told server. Food was still served
Our server, Srihari, was amazing! He clearly knew we hadn’t been out in a while and made the experience special. He double checked our order to be sure it was correct, never let us pour our own wine, he checked in on and conversed with us in perfect proportion which enhanced the experience.
My husband loves the steak frite and I am a vegan. They had a beautiful vegan cassoulet that made me feel like someone actually gave some thought to the meal instead of piling a bunch of steamed vegetables on a plate. Thank you, Left Bank, for making our first meal out in a long time a great one!
Escargot and nicoise salad were good today. My server was also very friendly and attentive.
