   Left Bank had been our go-to for pre-movie dinners on Friday nights for over 10 years. But over the last several years they've chipped away at many of the things used to make it a standout. They've cut back on the menu offerings, including once-popular menu options like steak frites which, according to waiters and managers was always a strong seller. Prices have continued to rise as portions have shrunk. They continue to offer 18% as the minimum default tip option on bills - on top of a 5% "cost of living" fee, which is just so annoying. None of these are big items in themselves, but for us every change has been for the worse. We'd been ok to absorb the higher prices and reduced value in the understanding that their costs have been rising and we've wanted them to survive and thrive. But last night we felt disappointment rather than the delight that we've enjoyed for so long. The place isn't bad - it's busy enough - and is consistent in terms of quality and value with other places in Santana Row, which is to say, driven much more by location than by great dining. It's too bad. Left Bank used to feel like something special, but now it feels like just another Santana Row restaurant.

   Party of three and had the filet mignon, french dip and nicoise salad for lunch. Filet mignon at $38 was tiny but good. French dip sandwich was huge and good. The nicoise salad at $31 - one of their signature salads - was disappointing. Three thin slices of ahi tuna and overall meager. More an appetizer than a lunch salad. Bread is available for extra charge. Wine selection was decent. Great outdoors seating. Service decent but very rushed. Not sure why. It was a weekday and they had plenty of open tables. Ok experience for $200.

   It was me and my bf's first time at the left Bank and I couldn't have imagined a dinner quite as delicious as what we had last night. The ambience of the restaurant was fantastic and lively, and the staff that was working was so kind and on point for the services that we need and so caring and willing to work as quickly as possible without over working themselves. And I was so happy that picking this restaurant gave my boyfriend a little taste of home that he had been missing. Now it wasn’t exactly home taste since he is from the southern region of France, but he enjoyed everything and it did feel like he was back home a little bit he said. So for my rating I give this restaurant five stars, because everything was a delicious and fantastic experience that will have me and my bf returning

   Our waiter was so thoughtful and cute! He brought refills of our Arnold Palmer drinks without our having to ask. He offered to take our picture before we asked. He was so full of personality. The food was delicious, as usual. We come here often and it never disappoints.

   Horrible server who never came back to table after taking order. Medium rare filet came out as a well done mangled end cut. Never was able to get refill on drinks after sitting down. Just really poor service and a bad filet.

   After a 10-15 wait for someone to show up at our table, things went pretty well. Instead of salad, we tried the cheese fondue, served with bread. Apparently, this is very French. Filet mignon was of good quality and cooked perfectly to order. Frites were a bit overcooked. The risotto, which my wife had, was outstanding. I enjoyed the profiteroles for dessert and the dessert menu generally has something for everyone. A decent number of wines are available by the glass, and all of these are also available by the carafe and the bottle. A carafe will fill 3 glasses and the price is exactly three times the price of a glass. So what's the point? Why not just order 3 different glasses and create a flight? The bottle price is 50% more than the carafe price, and that means the next 3 glasses are half off.

   Cheese board felt cheap: two slices of bread, three grapes, about three nuts. Never replaces silverware without asking, including serving my steak frites uncut without a steak knife. Drinks were extremely weak. Waiter held the pin pad and stared at what tip option I selected. I’m warning my friends never to go here.

    Service and ambience are impeccable as always. Given that we dined on Easter Sunday with the more than usual patrons present, the steak and eggs ordered were both overcooked though.
