Front desk was disorganized and ignored us in favour of customers who arrived after us. The waitress and table service was excellent.
Selected The Left Bank as our restaurant of choice for our 42 Valentines' Day together. It did not disappoint. The food and service was impeccable. The surf and turf special was not your typical surf and turf, it was great.
OMG! We have been coming to Vail for 10 years...kids just old enough now to take to a more formal french. Outstanding! The entire menu was a huge hit! And the waiter was nice enough to speak french to our kids!
Excelente comida todo fue de primera pasan los años y sigue excepciónal
Years back, this used to be one of our favorite restaurants. The food this time was OK. We had the specials (Duck & fish). Neither was overly great. The appetizer (truffled pasta) was good as was the chocolate soufflé. The decor was great - the best we have ever seen this restaurant in the 25 years that we have been coming here (last time was 11 years ago).
Soufflé was delicious
Boulibasse very good
Everything was amazing!
Service, ambiance and food were all excellent. If you like French food, you’ll have a hard time deciding what to eat: you’ll have to come back and bring some friends to share, as everything sounds good. If you are very traditional, you’ll note that the blinis are pre-assembled and that the vol au vent has no walls, which was different than the previous versions I’ve had elsewhere. Service was prompt but not hurried, friendly, not obtrusive. Quiet enough to have a conversation, but unable to hear anyone else’s.
The Left Bank was our last and by far the best dinner in Vail. The food, service and ambiance were all superb! The chocolate soufflés were simply divine. We were actually able to relax and converse. A fine old world dining experience. Simply not to be missed by sophisticated diners willing to pay for this experience.
Unfortunately, I was unimpressed... food was plated nicely but didn’t have the flavor I was looking for.
This restaurant is not what it once was . The tomato soup in puff pastry was literally cold, as were the mashed potatoes served with dinner. The decaf coffee tasted like coffee grounds. The waiter was apologetic, but too many things were wrong for it to be an enjoyable meal—especially for what it cost.
this was our first time here, food and ambiance was great, we will defiantly return
Deliciously prepared food & very accommodating. The escargot and lobster bisque was outrageous! The Bouillabaisse de Crustacés au Fenouil was absolutely the best one ever. The special sea bass was too flat, I prefer a think cut bass but the pesto was great. We had a romantic table at the window with a lovely view of Gore Creek! Highly recommended!
The Left Bank is an old-timer by Vail standards located within The Sitzmark Lodge in the heart of the village. A few years back new owners took over the restaurant and literally brightened the interior replacing the old dark wood and heavy furnishings with contemporary open design and enhancing the view of Gore Creek.
My comment is the menu is still in the 1970's with contemporary prices. Yes there is a niche for old-world French i.e. Dover Sole de-boned table side and similar dishes. Yet as a contemporary diner I personally am looking for updated contemporary French. This is a restaurant where the menu can easily be used in Mad Men. Not a bad thing, just be prepared for a more Alain Ducasse experience versus Joel Robuchon.
Of note, chef will prepare based on dietary limitations i.e. gluten, vegan and so forth all coupled with an excellent wine selection. Service on par with urban counterparts yet some missteps i.e. table missing bread plate at one service, waiters and servers not necessarily coordinating and so forth however this is a resort town thus not to be unexpected.
Of note we did order just two cocktails, two soups, two salads and a dessert. Felt the waiter was a bit perturbed that we did not order entrees' yet post late lunch and an early-side reservation the appetite was not there for a late entree.
The restaurant is a great option in Vail where fine dining has truly given way to casual. The Left Bank and La Tour are truly unique options within Vail and perfect for a special occasion, event and so forth.
Servicio muy lento, la comida muy buena siempre es garantia
Excellent elk. Inventive side salad sauce. Nice desert.
Left bank was great as always. The escargot were divine as were the filet and the duck. The tomato soup had an odd flavor and the soufflés were a tad runny. But overall, great!
have always wanted to try the Left Bank. It was a very satisfying experience. Dishes are just right to my family's palate with balanced seasoning! Very authentic! Friendly staff! We will definitely come back to the Left Bank the next time we are in Vail.
