West Bank has the BEST hamburgers anywhere. My son and I go there whenever we can and are always welcomed, treated like special customers and well fed. I highly recommend it!
Hate to write a less-than-glowing review after over a year of Covid restrictions, but our meal just didn't live up to this resto's reputation. We dined outside on the Santa Cruz Ave. side and had a terrific table. Our server seemed overwhelmed and harried (understaffed?). Food came out promptly, almost too soon, before the bread (now an extra cost item) was delivered to the table.
The food was just OK. My spouse had the burger, which historically has been her favorite dish here. She was disappointed in the flavor. I had a lamb shank that was tasty but not memorable, and the menu's description didn't match the served meal.
The resto had a good outdoor crowd, which seemed a positive step towards the "after times", and for that we're thankful. We'll return.
Service is usually quite good but not tonight.
The food is bland and mediocre and the service poor. We were rushed through our meal although there was no crowd. Items ordered never appeared. You can do much better for the price, literally next door.
Left Bank in MP meets and exceeds all our dining out requirements. Kudos to them!
A piece of bread should have been offered with the escargots
Very slow service
The food, wine and the ambiance as always was amazing. This is the first time the service wasn’t up to the usual standards.
We have dined here since it's opening more than 20 years ago and loved every time before. Tonight we were massively disappointed. The former level of food and service quality was sorely lacking. The wait staff was rushed and sloppy. Bread now costs an extra $6. The waiter finally opened our wine but never poured any. (Yes we do know how to pour our own wine and we did.) The water glasses were not refilled until we were having desert. The salads were fine and nicely presented but the entrees were incredibly bland and lacking flavor. (Where did they get the recipe for that terrible polenta?) The best part of the dinner was the wine, which we brought.
This had been our go-to place for a very nice meal and many great New Year's Eve celebrations, but no more. It's not cheap but the food and service sure was! Hope that they get their act together so that we can go back!
Obviously unprepared for the demand on reopening. But taking too many bookings for the space - or filling it with walk ins - is not ok. Poorly trained person at check in didn’t help. Slow service - had to ask numerous times for bread. Drinks took forever and minuscule when they arrived. Food was ok.
Very nice setting and very good service. 😀
Nice place for dinner and music on Frida nights. Food is tasty and fresh.
Still our go to French Bistro in California!
Mussels were ok, i would not order them again. A few tasted weird . It’s usually my favorite
The tar tar was really good.
The perfect place to meet up with friends and dine outside!
Not only is the food good, the ambience “ takes you away” and you forget that you are close to home.
Wait staff is excellent. We were a long time at lunch - 2+ hours - and we were never rushed. Our waiter just kept refreshing our water glasses. Thank you, Left Bank, for providing us with a wonderful experience!
This location is always wonderful, even after Covid.
Good was great. Music was awesome. Nicolas Perez was amazing on the piano. Service was lacking. Server disappeared for long periods of time. Too bad, I would have had more cocktails.
Had a good meal and conversation with friends. Everything was quick but didn’t feel rushed.
It is our neighborhood go to restaurant! We have enjoyed all our meals there.
My dinner partner had a most delicious nicoise salad I, sadly, ordered the French onion soup. It was not good. I ate it because I was hungry, and it was cold, but I wish I had sent it back. It was a tiny bowl. The cheese was overdone (as in WAY too much) as was the french bread. I will never order it again, unless something is done to improve it, markedly.
Had a really lovely evening outside with friends. Left Bank has done a great job of creating a cozy ambience with lighting and heaters. There was even live music coming from next door. We dressed warm and found it very comfortable. For once, it didn't feel like you were sitting on the tarmac for dinner. Food was wonderful for a variety of palates (vegan, vegetarian and meat lover) and the cocktails are really the next level.
As always it was a great experience. Friendly and professional staff and truly delicious food.
We had a lovely evening listening to the sweet songs performed by Laurent and his musicians and enjoying our wine and the delicious French Onion soup!
This was our first outdoor dining this spring during the pandemic. Carlos, our server was excellent! He was efficient, had a sense of service in delivering our drinks and courses and our dinner was delicious! Unfortunately, it was a raw, cold evening and I was cold. I wished that we had two heaters.
Very small menu, relatively quiet inside..no buzz. Was wet and cold outside.
We ordered the Cheeses fondue which was good on a cold evening, the Trout Almandine is always great, the sausage with potatoes was a disappointment. The fries were good but prefer thick cut ones
Great food and excellent service as usual.
As expected, the classic French dishes like mussels and duck were great! The brussels sprouted were wonderfully charred so they had a great, smoky flavor. The salads were beautiful. Service was slow with us needing to wait a bit before the waiter came for our drink order. Perhaps they are working out the kinks with the return of their staff. We sat inside and were a bit cold so I recommend dressing warmly regardless of whether you are seated inside or out. All in all it was nice to have dinner there and I would do it again.
Escargot & Steak Tartare were incredible!
A neighborhood delight. It is so easy to dine there. Pleasant locale. Lovely helpful people. Very good bistro food. We always enjoy our time at LB Menlo Park!
Great food and service. The staff were very attentive!
First time dining inside in months, and Left Bank was a great choice. Such a big, high-ceiling room with lots of space around the few tables. We had a booth so it was like our own room! The food and drink was delivered promptly and well-prepared. Love their French fries! Very nice menu.
Delighted to eat indoors but it was cold inside. Almost wished we were outside under a heater.
Great place. delicious food - just like France, but, to get a cocktail S L O W
Wonderful place for brunch. Heat lamps and nice outdoor seating.
Left Bank has mastered the outdoor dining experience. The food and service are equally good. The seating is very comfortable and the tables are the required six feet apart. I hope the croque monsieur becomes a staple on the menu--it was delicious!
thanks for a great meal in an excellent outdoor setting; 5 stars on the meal if the salad lyonnaise had been dressed :)
Food was just warm. We went to La Boheme on California Ave and ordered similar food, which was miles better than Left Bank: more tasty, hotter temperature and stayed hot for a much longer time -- similar outside temperature. We would not go back to Left Bank.
Great food & service. So nice to enjoy live music on the patio while we ate.
With Covid restrictions, we dined outdoors in an area designated for distancing safely, and I found it delightful, warm and very pleasant.
The menu was excellent, and the live music was over the top! It was a very lovely evening.
Everything was great but the slow service. It was very hard to get the attention of our server who basically ignored us. Loved the sausage dish and the European atmosphere.
