this is a good solid restaurant with delicious classic French food. It could probably be noisy if it were full because it is mostly hard surface and a good sized space. We had a very fresh endive salad and a great coq au vin. We also enjoyed the flight of Loire wines which was very reasonably priced. Bathrooms were a little worn...
The food was unremarkable. The steak tartar was sweet - not good. I ordered the sausage which is a risk and was sorely disappointed.
I had a very memorable evening celebrating our 12 wedding anniversary. The service was delightful and the food amazing! I'm sure we will be there more than once a year
Sea food was nothing special for all. Calamari was rubbery. Staff was friendly and did their job. Will not return.
European atmosphere, not as noisy as most newer restaurants, service is pleasant and well prepared food. Put altogether, it made for a special dining experience.
Very good as usual. We especially appreciate that you remember us
and already know what we like. Joe B.
Left Bank has been around for a very long time and does a remarkably consistent job with food, service and value. Great dinner with friends.
Great spot for Easter Brunch. Nice menu options and we had a great time.
An Easter Brunch for 13, and the staff could not have been nicer and so accommodating to 2 elderly mothers and younger kids. Well done!
The Easter Brunch offered by the Left Bank is very family friendly. There is a kids menu and the Easter bunny circulates among the tables to the delight of the children. There is, however, a limited menu, with several variatins on Eggs Benedict, waffles or pancakes. Still, the cocktails were interesting and the children had a blast.
Good spot for lunch or weeknight dining. Lots of outdoor seating. Good cocktails. Easy to get a table. Reliable stand by.
Great place for bistro dining. Wonderful service!
Waiter was slow. All else was pretty good.
We went early: 5:30 pm so the noise level was low and we were able to talk. Super service. I had the Boef Bourguignon and my colleague had the salmon. Perfect portions and great wine.
Love this location! Great Service!!
Thank you to Wes & the Hostess on Saturday, 03/10...made the night special.
Another great meal at Left Bank. The place was packed yet we were seated exactly at the time of our reservation. Great mushroom soup & burger. The manager Wes gave us that extra bit of service that made the meal special. Thanks!!
Welcoming reception with host personally taking charge of seating; very attentive service, despite a full house on a Saturday evening; and quality of food preparation and presentation exceptional. Overall, Left Bank Menlo Park definitely offers a superior dining experience.
Left Bank is a go-to lunch spot. Tasty food and great service.
Nice lunch. Corner booth with two friends.
Consistently outstanding; both food and service. Many years dining at Left Bank in Menlo Park and always a great experience!
I left a note on my open table reservation—guess the restaurant didn’t see it. They also didn’t see us for a LONG time. Even with reservations, they had us wait 10 minutes. After we sat, they didn’t even acknowledge us. I had to flag down the manager and ask for service. The food was meh. The service was horrible. The waiter was recommending things that weren’t on the menu—“oh we just changed and never mind, we don’t have that.” Or even better, the waiter recommended something and then said, “oh wait, that’s only available during dinner. Sorry.”
We like going to left bank, but with service like this, it will be a long time before we go back. C’est la vie.
I've been to left bank over the years, but haven't dined with them in 2 years. Each franchise has always had a variable quality, and this night I wasn't impressed with the food, decent but the coq au vin was a bit bland and a little dry. Service was nice, and was surprisingly bright (hurt my eyes lighting) inside, which is a down for a french inspired bistro. Kills the intimacy. Its always a good spot for wine and some charcuterie.
Superior dining experience in every respect--ambiance, seating, service, food and drink.
When the balcony is full, the din below n the main dining room is almost unbearably loud-we had to move to the bar seating, which is quieter, but also left us bereft of attentive service (until the end, when they brought the check!) On the other hand my lamb sandwich (labeled casse croque) was terrific, as was my husband's tuna nicoise. Wines by the glass reflect an excellent set of selections.
Saturday Brunch to celebrate friends Birthdays. Food and service were fantastic!
Wish they had more vegetarian options, but otherwise, great. Wines by the glass are nice. French onion soup & burger/fries great.
Great food and service...just wish I could have had my coffee refilled or at least asked-
I needed to add people and change time of my reservation and they were very accommodating- greatly appreciated.
We had five people. I enjoy the Left Bank experience...but this time it was very ordinary. Choice was average...salads available were run-of-the-mill and so were the food choices. The Menlo Park branch is not nearly as good as the Larkspur one. It is okay...but I would say that the value equation has slipped.
Always a great lunch. Left Bank consistently serves good food, well-prepared and authentic. The service is good and the waiters are friendly. I'm never disappointed when I stop in for lunch or dinner.
Not happy with lunch bring served before appetizers. Had to ask for additional drinks to order and more bread to be brought to the table. The restaurant was not busy. No reason for our table to be attended to better.
Food was disgusting. Don’t order any seafood items they taste a week old. Waiter wiped his nose on his sleeve at least 50 times.
We went to Left Bank for my birthday. I ordered the duck breast. The cook apparently doesn't know how to cook duck breast. They brought it out the first time and it had not been properly rendered so there was a quarter-inch thick piece of skin and duck fat on the side of the breast - in edible. When I pointed out that the duck was inedible, they took it back to the kitchen. Instead of properly cooking a new duck breast, they took the two pieces of the original duck breast, cooked them on the non-skin side, and brought out two pieces of overcooked duck breast that still had inedible pieces of skin and fat hanging on them.
I would never order the duck breast again at Left Bank. Whomever is on the grill does not know how to cook duck breast. Because the fat wasn't rendered, it left a layer of skin and fat on the breast that was literally like a piece of chewing gum - it could not be eaten.
Valentines Day. Was great.
Valentine’s Day menu was the best food ever at this restaurant, great meal and ambiance
7:30pm Reservation. Seated at 8pm. First course 8:45pm. Entree’s at 9:15.
We had a lovely Valentines Day dinner with excellent food and service
Went on Valentine's Day with my wife. Our server (whose name escapes me) was fantastic and really added to the evening. He was attentive and very knowledgeable about the wine.
Service, food, overall experience: Excellent!
I really loved this place, the best french restaurant in silicon valley!
I tried the fondue, and it was amazing... The place is awesome!
I go to Left Bank Menlo Park approximately once a quarter. I still like the restaurant--the food is very good and the ambiance of the restaurant is very nice. The service this time was disappointing. There was a very small luncheon crowd, yet, we could not get a server to even come to the table for almost 10 minutes. When he came, he did not, as most servers would do, ask if we wanted something to drink. Bread came when I asked for it. The meal, however, was served timely, and the server was more attentive after the initial delay. My guest and I both had salads and pommes frites. The salads were very good.
