FRENCH ONION SOUP
brown butter, roasted almonds, green beans
seared Ahi, egg, haricots verts, olives
Great night out in the parklet. I have eaten there during the day and think that evening is much better. The host was kind to seat us out there even though we'd technically reserved for inside. Our server was attentive, good humored, and knowledgeable about the food. The lemon tart brûlée was new to me and really delicious.
My wife and I shared the heirloom tomatoes appetizer special and chocolat fondant dessert. Both were excellent and very delicious. We both ordered the onion soup as we usually do. Their soup is always savory, and full flavored - the best around. Our main courses were the house made sausage and steak frites with peppercorn sauce. Both were very good. Our server, Frankie, was attentive but not obtrusive. Very polite and professional. The other servers also helped the dining experience by keeping our glasses filed and helping deliver a few courses. This was our fourth meal the Left Bank and we enjoy it as a date night go to spot. It does not disappoint. We will return!
It was all good. great outdoor seating. food was excellent.
We have been eating there for 20 years - perhaps 100 times or close to it. Great food, wonderful service, a gorgeous place with a wonderful bar and indoor setting, and great patio. I don't know anyone who serves more fabulous food at a better price.
Took friends from out of town for lunch and they loved it!!!
We dine at the Left Bank Restaurant frequently and have always enjoyed our dining experience. The menu features many of the country French items you expect in France. The quality of the food is very good and well prepared. Yuri the manager goes out of his way to make sure your are well cared for and satisfied.
Even the Frenchman loved it!
We left after ordering our wine and before giving our food order. We have eaten there before and it was fine....however, the waiter. a gruff and surly male wasn't worth our stay.
The competition is so tough in Larkspur with excellent restaurants and amiable and welcoming staff the we found it in the next block at Don Antonio.
Birthday brunch excellent food and server
Absolutely amazing! Every things was exceptionally on point.
Great service. Attentive waiter and delicious food. Parking wasn’t super great, but there are spots for free if you’re willing to walk a bit.
Always consistent and yummy! The food is always well prepared and delicious!
Most Pleasant !!!
Delicious food. I had the onion soup and Niçoise salad. The ahi was perfectly seared rare and dressed with a lovely vinegarette and chock full of wonderful tidbits. My husband’s duck was also thoroughly enjoyable. As with many restaurants post-pandemic, trained service staff is difficult to come by, so patience is required as far as timing of food delivery, etc. We were placed in the requested outdoor seating area which was a temporary park-let, i.e.,not much ambience, when seats were available at the lovely permanent patio area?? We’ll definitely look forward to another dinner there soon.
Left Bank in Larkspur never disappoints. Once more, it was beyond expectations. We absolutely love the French musical trio, and appreciate that they control the sound level . The food is consistently good, although I tried the Coq au vin for the first time and was not crazy about it ( pasta ordinary, no greens). I woul love the see the smoked salmon flat bread back on the appetizer menu. The Saint-Emilion was an excellent choice. We will keep coming back! 🇫🇷
Bastille Day, very lively atmosphere, food was excellent!
Everything was very nice. However there was a big group next to us celebrating a birthday. They were noisy. Other than that our experience was very good.
festive and fun for Bastille Day...
Food is generally consistent and good!
Good food, comfortable seating, very friendly service.
Very nice lunch on a Sunday afternoon food was very good and service was friendly and attentive.
Loved it and the service e was amazing
Horrible dinning experience... We recently returned to the Left Bank restaurant for an early dinner after a long awaited visit due to the pandemic. Now that warring mask and dinning inside Marin restaurants has eased, we wanted to celebrate a long overdue anniversary. We decided to make a reservation at our favorite restaurant and arrive a bit early to enjoy a happy hour drink before being seated. When we arrived, we had learned that “happy was not offered at the moment”. I mentioned to the host, that’s odd... when I booked our reservation online it shows the days/hours/prices with no mention about not being offered.
We decided to be seated and I casually told our waiter that we were sadden to hear that “happy hour was not offered" … then the manager came over to our table and started to rudely lectured me (seriously) for over 5 minutes with his computer tablet in hand telling me... “on my screen, there isn’t a happy hour on our website”. He continued to go on about this... then asked, where did I find the page stating that? I simply replied, your website. He continued on to mention if you search through Google that the Left Bank restaurants do not have control over what is posted etc. How am I to know???
I said WTF, it’s online and that we've been dinning at this restaurant for years. Seriously, this was the most embarrassing and humiliating experience ever… We almost stood-up and walked out until the bartender stepped in to calm the situation. She was very helpful and understanding. I then showed her the page on my smartphone where it shows this and I wasn't making it up. This was extremely upsetting to be treated this way as long standing customers. No more.
Never once did the manager introduce himself or apologized. This is the last time we'll visit this restaurant. Our dinning experience was horrible.
Great atmosphere and loved the mussels!!
Freshest mussels I have ever tasted.
Just one thing, I asked for lemon for my entrée a few times and it never came. Maybe it was just Saturday evening. And it was fine
First time back out for dinner at a real restaurant, with wonderful live music.
Nice location and good ambiance - nice outdoor seating and there was live music. I had the french onion soup - was really looking forward to it but it was pretty bland and I did not end up feeling compelled to finish it once my main course arrived. I ordered the bread platter as an appetizer, also a bit bland. My salmon was well cooked, tangy as described. Prices reasonable, but the food fell short for me.
Like time away from all stress
The food was delicious! The service was great! We did find it a little difficult to converse as it was somewhat loud.
Shared Fondue and Asparagus salad
Had an outdoor table but traffic noise noticeable
Four of us went to lunch at noon, sitting outside. The service, food and ambiance were all very good. Street noise and exhaust fumes were mild negatives but the outside dining was pleasant anyway. It would be great if their lunch menu included an egg dish along with the normal salads and entrees. The onion soup and sausage were both excellent choices. The profiteroles for desert were terrific.
This is a restaurant at which, prior to the pandemic, I had eaten fairly regularly. I had always considered it to be very good. This time it was a terrible disappointment.
My meal was satisfactory but my partner's was really poor. She ordered the pound of mussels. In that pound there were seven dead mussels and three empty ones. The server offered to bring additional mussels which were satisfactory. However, he also forgot until reminded to bring the wine which she had ordered. He provided a complimentary dessert which we mostly left. The manager came over to the table and try to explain the reason for the problematic mussels but she either did not know what she was talking about or was making it up.
All in all, this was a restaurant on which I could always rely for a good meal with excellent service. No longer. With the exception of the forgotten wine, the service was excellent. The food however was mediocre. I could no longer recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Whitney made our experience extra lovely during our Left Bank visit yesterday! Very attentive, prompt and so friendly. Thank you Whitney!!!
And the oyster vinaigrette, just woah! Best I ever had!
We had a lovely meal at Left Bank. The service was a little slow and the table was not cleared after each course which was not well done. But the food was excellent and it was a good as we had remembered from having visited a few years ago.
As always Left Bank is high on our List
Great Food, wine and Service
Will always return
Thanks for a great Fourth of July Dinner
Left Bank Larkspur sets a consistent standard for outstanding service. The entire team from host to service staff to table disinfecters/setters all display very complete training, from changing out plates and silverware to filling empty water glasses. The space itself is comfortable, attractive, and gently French in ambiance. Hamburgers and fish were perfectly cooked and tasty, vegetables tasty and perfectly cooked, calamari needed to be cooked and crisped a bit more. Wine and cocktail prices reflect trend towards inflation, the last value-oriented part of the menu. Left Bank menus and ambiance offer choices from casual snacking to elegant meals, always a reliable option for a memorable meal.
Left Bank is always buzzing and active. Terrific friendly service and delicious food.
