Service outstanding! Always come away with - good idea to have done!
The Left Bank has been a go-to restaurant for our family for many years. From the moment that the host greets you until you leave, dining here is a wonderful experience. Unlike many grown-ups, I have the palate of a four-year-old, but there is always something for everyone . . . be it a seafood specialty or a ham-and-cheese omelette.
Definitely something for everyone!
Great service and bistro comfort food with very flexible wine program (by the glass, 1/2 carafe or bottle). Happy hour specials only in bar area. Great spot for a casual date night with charming setting when we're in the neighborhood.
Food was good but not great. Classic French comfort food. Excellent French waiter and very romantic yet warm and friendly atmosphere
Fun night with a friend. The food was good and everyone was pleasant.
Cozy fire, fab food on a cold and blustery day.
A Norman Rockwell scene ala Francais’...
We enjoyed our date night dinner at Left Bank. I had escargot and my wife had the cauliflower soup with a touch of curry. With were excellent. She had the duck and I had the Thursday night special casserole with pork sausage and duck. They were excellent as well. I highly recommend the Left Bank for a date night or a for a great Freench dinner.
A disappointing Salad Lyonnaise; lots of frisee, but dressing all on the bottom, poached egg cold, and the croutons and bacon were all cold and uninteresting. But I always have it. I think it used to be much better. Perhaps an off day.
Your menu really needs to be updated. Most of the items have been there for YEARS! Unfortunately, the service was not good - our waiter wouldn't make eye contact when we needed attention - had to stop a busboy to make a request a couple of times, and to get the check.
We drive across the Richmond Bridge from the East Bay for a lunch whenever we need a French bistro fix: onion soup, steak Tartare, charcouterie etc. It's got to be a special lunch occasion though, one that's worth spending $140 (inc. tax and tip) for lunch and drinks for two.
Their calamari is a unique approach and very good; it comes with a mustard seed dressing/dip and toast points. In my opinion a couple of slices of levain bread would be sufficient; of course that's available too and replenished freely. Bon appetit!
The elderly Latino busser has been there forever and takes good care of you. Say hello to him, he is one that provides a sense of continuity in the fast changing world of restaurants .
food & service excellent.Noise level from bar efffected the ambience and made it unnpleasant. A finerestaurant that needsto attend to sound problem
Restaurant handled the busy Saturday night crowd with ease. We had one of the best servers anywhere! Menu offered many traditional dishes, plus a few new ones. Front part of restaurant was "lively" near the bar; we were pleased they were able to seat us in a back area where we could talk to our friends. Easy parking. We will go again.
Always love the Mussels, atmosphere and French menu.
We were a group of 10 and had a wonderful server. She was very pleasant and knowledgeable about the wine and the food.
There with family and grand children 10 & 12. Waiter was fabulous to them and made them feel at home. Food was fabulous. Night was fun.
Had a wonderful dinner, great waitperson (female), and loved the energy there. We were celebrating a birthday and had a great time.
We were very happy with our first visit to Left Bank. Our meal was as expected, well prepared and everyone was very friendly. Brenden was our server and he was amazing.; personable, funny, knowledgeable and professional. We dine out frequently and travel substantially and have never met a server with Brenden’s passionate energy and clear love of his role representing Left Bank. We love Larkspur and we will definitely be back to Left Bank and to see Brenden.

A very average restaurant experience.
Older crowd, i felt like we were the youngest ones there.
I hate restaurants that pretend to be fine dining for pricing, but don’t hold their kitchen staff and servers to the standards worthy of those prices. I will never go here again.
Once the Open Table reservation hassle was handled, due to the fact that reservation turned out to be for outside on a cold Valentine's Day night, there was never any indication on the reservation email sent to us. However after a slight wait, The Left Bank staff rectified this issue. The meal however, was truly wonderful and the rest of the evening was great. Thank you!
We had a great meal for Valentine's Day! Good food and ambiance. They did run out of some of the options on the prix fixe dinner which was disappointing, but they bent over backwards to accommodate us.
We were seated promptly. Excellent atmosphere and food for Valentines day
I was greatly impressed by the reception. Our reservation was for the outside dining, which is great for the summer but chilly for late Winter early Spring. They were able to find a table in doors, which was greatly appreciated.
Perfect creme brulae and hamburger pickle
Birthday luncheon Seated us in a booth. Spilled my wine and Manager refilled glass and small carafe. Excellent service and attention
Overall great experience. Very friendly host and server. Food was good I would go back
If only I had studied in French class!! A wonderful Sunday brunch, complete with flexible hosting (late ferry at Larkspur Landing) ... impeccable service, thank you Mira!! The fondue for an appetizer? Perfect — all downhill from there. Enjoy life, enjoy your company, enjoy your meal ... The Left Bank is the place to enjoy it all!! Merci.
Server was super fun! Comfortable booth and good food.
Everything was great but the noise level in the back eating area was so loud as to be painful to talk. Sit outside or in front area.
Nice ambiance and good food and wine. Be prepared to spend.
First of all, our server was great. We started with a Pastis, which was a nice apertif choice. The ]Our server understood presentation. Fondue starter was good. One of us had duck, the other Trout - both were okay. One of us had the creme brulee and the other an affogato type of dessert - both okay. Suggested wine choices were good. Service = great. Food = okay.
A restaurant which has persevered for many years. Wait staff appeared quickly and were attentive. Both our orders were wonderful, the salad Nicoise and the ribeye which was cooked just as ordered.
I haven't had the pleasure of having much French food in my life but my mom has been really eager for some for awhile so I figured she deserved a French meal after all the support she has been giving me. I was in for a shock when we ate here because it was one of the best meals I've had. From the yummy butter served with the starter bread to the utterly delicious cheese we had (that came with these toasted bread slices, sweet apples and toasted walnuts) to the main meal of Duck a la orange and risotto for mom and a roasted half a chicken with duck fat cooked fingerling potatoes for me to the divine dessert of profiteroles. Then there was the great service and lovely interior of the restaurant where you have the choice of outdoor seating, bar seating or standard seating. I typically cant eat a lot at one seating but I didn't leave much behind on my plate which speaks to how good the chef is there. I hope to definitely go back there for another meal and have already started recommending it to friends, family and associates. Plus as my mom said you know its good French food when there are so many French people eating there. She also said it was the best French meal she has eaten and that says. something considering she has had a few before. They even got us in last minute. Highly highly recommend!!!!!
Lovely room with an open fire. Excellent service, cheerful, attentive, timely. Food served at correct temperature. Presentations lovely. Food delicious and ample. Perfect birthday brunch.
I've been here many times but this past time I had poor service. They didn't get our order correct, and it took a very long time for our waitress to come ask for our order.
Food excellent as always. Just not enough staff to handle the crowds. Our waiter was clearly in over his head, however, he had too many table to handle and not enough help. One of our party of seven had to wait until all of us had eaten to get her dish redone. Still one of our favorite spots, but not sure I would go on a Saturday night if staffing issues are not addressed.
Loved sitting outside on a beautiful day. Good food with good friends and attentive service.
Cozy, delicious, beautiful. Need more vegetarian options that aren’t pasta!
Terrific steak au poive but the onion soup was way too salty. Everything else terrific but wine prices are a tad too high
