Love the Left Bank!
We so enjoy your restaurant - and with wx warming - outside is really cool.
Sometimes, midweek, we drive across the Richmond Bridge for a special lunch out, Left Bank is always a nice lunch in a pleasant setting. Be there early and you'll even get a good street parking spot. One of the few places that makes steak tartare. Their version of calamari fritte is excellent : mixed tentacles and squid rings with lots of fried onion rings and an excellent mustardy mayonnaise for dipping. Better than tartar sauce. I have usually gone for the draft beers rather than order wine by the glass. If by the end you have had several courses of savory dishes don't feel too bad about missing desserts and just save the calories for another time.
We never see the same wait staff on succeeding visits, but the kindly and efficient, older busser is always there. I make it a point to slip him a fiver, just because he provides good service and a sense of continuity to the atmosphere.
Poor service. Wrong salads delivered (ordered beet salad and endive salad delivered). Entrees delivered before salads were finished.
The service was not good. The server left us unattended for stretches of time. We were seated, and 5 minutes later a couple was seated next to us. They received their food and finished eating before our food arrived. We ordered the chicken dish, which I was told by my date that it could take a while, but this seemed to be extreme. I liked the restaurant, the location, and the ambiance. But the service could have been better.
They really pay attention to my requests for a quiet table. Love going there so will keep going food wonderful and staff very professional. My best Restaurent in Marin.
Our party of six thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. Menu choices are nice and varied.
Great spot with yummy French food. My trout amandine was divine as was the salad with dijon vinagrette.
We were at the Left Bank on a Friday evening. The waitress was wonderful but she was so overworked that the service was terrible. It was not her fault. It was over 15 minutes between courses. Our used dishes and utensils were not cleared in a timely manner. The food was okay except for the mussels. Half the shells were empty and the mussels that were there were mushy.
The evening left such a negative feeling for me. It was my last meal at the Left Bank.
It was a lovely evening. The food was not flawless but very good. They honored our request for a “quiet” private table which meant we were tucked away in a corner and server was a bit slow to get to us. All in all this a restaurant we come back again and again.
Not up to usual
Long established option on the Main Street of Larkspur. Place seems tired, or maybe exhausted. It was Sunday night. Service was ‘lazy’.
Lunch with a friend last week was very nice as usual. The fish we ordered was great. The description on the menu however did not mention tomatoes on this dish. I cannot have tomatoes, to my great dismay. Our server offered to take it away to have the dish redone, but we had an event to go to, so I just removed them myself. This entrée was a new one for trout I believe. All in all we love Left Bank.
Got together with my 17 year old niece to catch up ! Our lunches were delicious and good sized. We took our leftovers home with us.
I had the Salad Nicoise and my niece had another salad.
Just enjoyed a perfectly wonderful lunch al fresco. Attentive service, delicious food and beverages, and a lovely ambience. We’ll be back!
I have been coming here for years and it is always a sure thing, always consistent and delicious.
Arrived 5 minuets early, (Easter Sunday) got seated. Server asked us what we wanted to drink. Told her what we wanted to drink. She served us bread, my party looked at each other, flabbergasted, four slices, (it looked like someone’s left over) we were all starving, so we ate it anyways, I flagged another server for bread, this time a basket full of bread. It didn’t look like left over this time. Ordered coffee at the end of meal, creamer was served, but not sure why it was half full, it really felt like everything that she was giving us was left over. But of course not our meal, ( that’s out of her control). Bill came, checked it, salmon was charged at $27.00, I remember seeing at $20.00, asked our server about it with confidence she said, “YES” it is $27.00, didn’t believe her because we all knew it should be $20.00, walked up to the front desk, I asked for the menu, sure enough it is $20.00, there wasn’t any problem with price adjustments, server didn’t apologize for the mistake. Nonetheless, we still tipped her 20%. We figured, it’s Easter, cut her a slack.
Our family was sharing Easter brunch. Our waiter, Steven, was super attentive and personable! The food is always delicious and ambience is fun.
Overall lovely Easter brunch. Wait staff and food were great. Love the atmosphere.
Left Bank had a big promotion for wine and Oyster Fete. We made a reservation, arrived to find no more oysters. no make good, just an apology for allowing us to make a 45 minute drive, arrange for a babysitter. Not even a comment from the manager, or a comped beverage. Customer service is very important, this restaurant does not get that.
Great food and atmosphere of a classy French bistro.
The Oysters Rockefeller were over cooked very disappointing we should have sent them back but we were in conversation with friends and did nothing!
Evening get together with friends (six in all). Oysters great as usual, had mussels and frites as entree which was excellent, friends had po boy oysters which they loved. Service was excellent.
The food was excellent. We dined on a Wednesday evening. They must have been understaffed. The service was poor. Our waiter was overworked and it took a very long time for us to receive our food.
I had an early dinner with bar menu food. However when asked if I wanted plain water or sparkling water I opted for sparkling- the kicker was that there was an $8 charge for sparkling water. No mention by the waiter of the additional cost - bad form in my view. This added about 30% to my otherwise modest bill which left a “bad taste “ in my mouth. Please advise waiters to tell customers about the significant added charge for sparkling water
It is difficult to experience a bad meal at the Left Bank. Even though it is a typical French Brasserie, this restaurant breezes the influence of its chef-owner Roland Passot from “La Folie” in San francisco. The service was great and basking under the spring sunshine added to the positive experience.
This is a go to special occasion restaurant. Food and service is consistently good.
My husband and I arrived first. i was in a wheel chair due to a broken leg. They removed the chair from the table and moved me right up to the table in
The wheel chair without any problem. The waitress was very patient and just before our party arrived, put an order in for h’ors d’oeuvres, so that they would be ready when the rest of the group arrived. She was extremely pleasant and friendly and efficient. We ordered the duck breast a la orange with the duck confite, the baked chicken, two ribeyes and the bouillabaisse. They were all delicious and large portions. We shared the lemon cheesecake and the creme brûlée and ice cream. The creme brûlée was the best of all. Came to about $60 a person with tip. We brought our own wine.
Fabulous French menu, many traditional dishes and new ones too.
The food is always good at Left Bank. The wait staff is a little chaotic, practically running at times. Yes it was very busy - Friday night - but the hurried wait staff bordered on dangerous. It was a wonder trays weren’t dropped or food dumped on someone.
We had a to-go box of the coq au vin which was put in an incorrect container for food with sauce. It leaked all over the car.
This location in Larkspur is perfect. Solid bistro food, service is spot-on. This is always a textbook example of how a restaurant should be run. Waitstaff is super friendly, accommodating, continuously smiling, and always ready to give a solid recommendation for food or wine. Never hesitate to dine here.
Had lunch with friends. All three of us ordered the Salade Nicoise but asked for it to be served with Salmon. We loved it! And we liked the idea of their Petite desserts. Two of us shared their petite profiterole and it was perfect.
It’s was amazing, the food was delicious and the service was great.
Food, service, and overall experience was outstanding. Thank you for this gem in Larkspur.
Our server was fantastic. We've been coming to this restaurant for many years and have never has such wonderful service. She was outgoing, provided a full assortment of recommendations with a delightful description of drinks and food. Need to clone her.
The meals and drinks were wonderful.
It was my birthday & daughter had given me a gift certificate for $100.00. Reserved table 45 & indicated it was my birthday on reservation & certificate. No mention of my birthday was acknowledged by hostess or waitress.
Other than that it was a lovely evening!
Service outstanding! Always come away with - good idea to have done!
The Left Bank has been a go-to restaurant for our family for many years. From the moment that the host greets you until you leave, dining here is a wonderful experience. Unlike many grown-ups, I have the palate of a four-year-old, but there is always something for everyone . . . be it a seafood specialty or a ham-and-cheese omelette.
Definitely something for everyone!
This is our fourth time to Left Bank. All four times our experiences have ben great. Foods and services are excellent. Definitely a go to place when you crave for French food.
Great service and bistro comfort food with very flexible wine program (by the glass, 1/2 carafe or bottle). Happy hour specials only in bar area. Great spot for a casual date night with charming setting when we're in the neighborhood.
