We live a mile away and go to the LB at least once if not twice a month. We enjoy the setting (even special with outdoor seating), the staff, and of course the food. Salad Verte is always excellent. Roast chicken a treat. Pastas excellent. Burgers for the kids. Steak Tartare used to be the best, but recipe changed to an ordinary one. It is one of our favorites, and we will return when they re-open.
Even with a limited pandemic menu Left Bank is worth a visit. Oysters are fresh. Steak tartare is a rare menu item and is very good. The trout entre and salad nicoise are outstanding. Pleasant and attentive service in comfortable outdoor settings as well as indoor seating when allowed.
the food was delicious - totally what you want from a french bistro - will for sure be going back
My girlfriend and I were in the mood for a true French restaurant. And Left Bank delivered. We visited for a late lunch on Sunday so we could choose from either their brunch menu or their dinner menu. It was a tough decision. We started with their fondue, which was one of the most interesting and tasty ones we'd had in a long time. The blue cheese gave it great character but did not overwhelm the other cheeses. Then I had French onion soup and my girlfriend had the salade Lyonnaise. It was one of the best French onion soups I've had. Our main courses were also excellent, and very French. Their wine list is very well thought out with wines across all of our favorite French wine regions. And downtown Larkspur is just so relaxing to hang out in. We will be back.
Everything was delicious, but my French Onion soup was cold. But the salad, brussel sprouts and fries (best in Marin) were superb. Our server was amazing, so sweet and warm and could read us and our vibe and pace and made us feel like our Bubbie was serving us.
OMG!!! There is a vegan cassoulet on the regular menu, but they had a “real deal” cassoulet special!!
Probably the best thing I have eaten out since the whole Covid situation enveloped us all!!
AMAZING!!! I want to start a petition to get that on the menu permanently!!!
KUDOS to the chef!!!
Food was delicious as always. Love the kitchen staff and comfy artful outdoor seating. The waiter/Mgr was forgetful, but engaging. COVID is challenging. We had fun!
Outdoor brunch was excellent. The Left Bank is one of our regular places.
My BF was upset because he drinks beer and there was only one beer to choose from. We both had pork and it was good, not outstanding, but okay. We were seated outdoors next to one of the vertical heaters. It’s wasn’t uncomfortable for me as I was right next to it but my BF commented that it didn’t give off much heat on his side of the table.
I like this restaurant overall but the wine prices are really high for the most part and the lack of beer was an issue this time. Will give it another try in the future. My lunch at this same restaurant last week (Trout) was better.
The French fries are very good!
Always have great food and service. We sat outside in one of the new park let’s. Our waiter was attentive, fast service and the food was great. Never disappoints.
Outstanding food. Great escargot, Duck, fried chicken and mussels. However, the heating outside was insufficient and we were freezing.
Limited Prix Fixe menu for special Thanksgiving evening dinner. Outdoor seating on a chilly night but still pleasant. Great service and atmosphere at an historic setting in my beloved town of Larkspur.
We had a delicious Thanksgiving at The Left Bank. The food and service was impeccable.
Trout was very tasty and because my friend had French fries to share from her order of mussels, it was a nice, complete meal. French fries here are really very good... crispy and very tasty. The mussles were also vry good as well.
Food quality has dropped. There are better places in the area
Go to bistro for Niçoise salad and fries! The fries are addictive!
Food was good and I would recommend the food to others, but would preference it with questionable service. I know they are struggling with all the new requirements as all businesses are, but staff needs considerable more training. We had to ask repeatedly for everything, water, bread, salt/pepper, etc. Sadly, the entrée arrived before the appetizer and the server seemed confused. When staff came by to removed used plates, if there were 2 or 3 dirty plates, they took only one. Wine was never poured.
I'm sure they will work toward a better service and flow, but since the food was so delightful, it was disappointing to have such mediocre service.
We go hear often so know many of the staff. We went for the BEAUJOLAIS NOUVEAU special event. The music was nice. I had the butternut squash soup which was great. The only issue was the waitress who hasnt waited our table very much, but her hands on the table and bent down and was sort of in our face. My husband hurriedly put his mask on (they were off bc we had just been served our drinks). He asked could she move back that she was not socially distancing. She said, well I need to hear and he said but you are too close. She appeared to be insulted. There was a table of like 5-6 women who were very loud but still based on Covid protocol I believe the server was out of line.
Amazing, many hours, many courses, fantastic service.
Delicious as always!
Always amazing. A local gem and culinary escape to Paris!
Highly recommend the escargot, the duck, and the seasonal pumpkin cheesecake tart...we have never had a bad experience with food or service. One of our favorite restaurants.
Everyone was so wonderful. Thank you very much.
great service and a really good covid seating and serving plan. We asked for a slight substitution on a dish and it was "no problem" Great place during the virus era.
We love Left Bank and the food is always so delicious there. I was a bit disappointed because I asked our waitress if the chef could take the sauce from the Shrimp Provencale and use it with the mussels (which seemed a small request) but, alas, not the case and she seemed to be perturbed at the request (and, in fact, seemed so for the rest of our meal.) Despite her "grumblyness" we ordered the duck breast and enjoyed my hubby's celebratory birthday dinner!
Heat lamps not working, quite windy. Cold food
Overall I recommend the restaurant! Loved the food.
Good food, ambiance, service. They are doing a great job with outside seating and covid
Great, until the bill came. No protest or challenge- just really expensive!
Service is excellent but food is not so much. I won’t definitely recommend this place to anyone
We are here each week, maybe twice once in awhile.
Went for a birthday brunch and had a fantastic time. Wouid definitely go again.
What can I say, I'm crazy about their mussels. I love the place. In March we had dinner there, the last one before the lockdown, it was strange but unforgettable. I really should try something else next time I'm there.......
The food REALLY good but the service was very, very slow with no apologies. But we appreciate that the employees were working during a pandemic and we'll happily come back.
Excellent as always...............................
We sat outside on the patio so street noise was a little loud......but our food and service was excellent! Escargot, onion soup and mussels.....oh and the bread. In addition, our server was the best! So enjoyable and funny and attentive.
What an awesome experience. Everyone so energetic and they have amazing outdoor space but also are doing a great job with spacing and making sure everyone is practicing safety. Food was fantastic!
Always a treat, with service to match the quality of the food.
Beautiful dining experience, very attentive and helpful staff. Food and cocktails are superlative!
