Always a tried and true. And the martinis never disappoint
I love dining out on the terrace at Left Bank, it makes me feel like I am in France.
This is a great spot traditional semi French cuisine : beautiful setting in downtown Latkspur 🫐 and welcoming caring staff
This is a French bistrot as it exists in your imagination and not so easy to find in France anymore, from the ambience and the menu to the food, which was a great example of the genre. Every component of the steak frites was perfect, and so was the trout almandine. The only drawback was the time it took for the waiter to come to take our drink orders, but the service was friendly and timely from there on. So, good to get in the right mood and keep the American impatience at bay. It's not cheap but worth every penny.
One of our favorites. Steak frites and Profitiroles.
The French Onion Soup was delicious. I had to have the Pom Fretes, they’re always delicious. I tried a drink that was called the “Bees Knees” and that to was just perfect. The staff was sweet and got our orders correct and to us in no time at all. It was my first time indoors at a restaurant and you made the experience a positive on......I will be back!
We frequent the Santana row often so we ordered are usuals at the Larkspur location. Unfortunately it was not up to par. The old fashion has bud chunks of sugar cubes on the bottom, it was not muddled/dissolved/blended in. The mussels were undercooked and had to be sent back for fully cooked mussels.
We may consider giving it another try since we like the area.
Food was very good. We sat inside and were seated and served with friendly staff. Recommend the trout.
I have been a local customer here for several decades, and this last experience was notably disappointing because of the quality of service we received from the host. As always, I made a reservation specifically requesting an outside table. The host abruptly made up a bs excuse and said it didn’t matter that the reservation I had made the week prior was outside, too bad he only had a table for us inside or nothing-we wouldn’t be having lunch there. As I was entertaining a special friend who just recovered from breast cancer, I was very concerned but did not want to make a disturbance and embarrass her. She said it was okay and we sat inside, even though there were many (not one or two) but SEVERAL empty tables outside. The worst part, which prompted this review, is that when I was finished with my lunch and while my friend was still eating, the tables outside that were directly in our view had remained empty the entire time and the host had the audacity to come up to the table and ask if we wanted to go sit at one of those tables. Excuse me....no thank you. We were just finishing our meals and it felt totally unthoughtful and plain old crazy for the host to try and backpedal now.
Again, I made a reservation a week prior for an outside table and he rudely and with no graciousness did not recognize or care about this fact. So now I’ll be going somewhere else to entertain and meet my friends at lunch. Really disappointing service, and the handling of the table seating situation was poorly executed with little tact or consideration.
One guest loved your lamb sandwich from the past. With the new menu, it appears this is no longer available. I know if you do bring it back, one person would be very happy!!
Everything was wonderful and it was the first time for the six of us to meet and eat together in more than a year.
We somewhat regularly go here for events and dinners. This dinner was our 36th wedding aniversary and my wife grew up in Marin and we have lived in the Ross Valley for 32 years.
We know the Left Bank is consistently excellent an an awesome go to in Marin. The server was very good overall. DF
We have dined at The Left Bank since 1995 and have always enjoy very good dining. The food and surrounding are excellent. Ivan
Left Bank has done a great job creating a safe and easy parklet on the side street of their restaurant. It was built up along the street and it is decorated like a cable car. The food has been excellent and the service top notch.
I would always recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Love their onion soup... smaller menu now due to Covid, but that could change.
Great place to have a leisurely lunch. Wait staff was very attentive and Yisby was so pleasant.
Delicious always! Great service & a fun place to enjoy our meals.
Very passionate and honest staff in terms what wines and dishes they like...always appreciate knowing what the waitstaff thinks!
Very poor service, food quality deteriorated since 2019. Noisy. So sad. I used to love this place!
Great food and even better service!
Was great to be back at one of our favorite spots. Food was reliably excellent an liked that they've freshened and added to their standard menu. Service was attentive and warm even though the place was full and appeared to be short-staffed. Try the new lamb dish!
Host packed the dining room with customers and left tables outside infilled regardless of guest request. Also, no mask enforcement of diners who got up maskless from tables to answer phone calls or use restroom. My guest and I felt very unsafe eating lunch at this establishment last week.
very solid French food in bistro atmosphere.
Sunny day outside.
Paris without the jet lag
Great food & most importantly great service! The salad niçoise & French fries is the most fun meal and champagne to wash it all down...excellent!
Wonderful service and meal!
I needed home cooking tonight. A warm culinary hug. I got it with the Beef Bourginon. It’s a pricey meal, but worth every penny! Delicious! This is my go-to single gal patio. Love it!
Lovely as usual. Very diligent about Covid regulations and server was attentive. Always have the mussels, which I love here.
We had a charcuterie plate to die for, good wine as well as a delicious pasta dish for myself and a lovely sausage dish for my partner. Highly recommended!!!
While the food was marginal (cheese plate just okay, truffle fries excellent) the service was not what it used to be. Maybe busy? Maybe rusty? I will give Left Bank one more try and judge from here.
Another wonderful meal at Left Bank. Sitting outside on an early earning with the space heaters on, enjoying a glass of wine and steak tartare while reading a book, is a treat. Great service, ambiance, and of course, food!
It was lovely to eat inside, with lots of space between the tables. It was our anniversary, and they gave us a yummy profiteroles as a gift. Unfortunately the staff does not speak French, and our waitress did not know the meaning of a word on the menu describing one of the entrees. However most of the menu items were listed with their French names, and I understood them.
Great location for a weekend brunch. Very fresh raw oysters and authentic escargot with a mini wam baguette to soak up the wonderful buttery garlic sauce. The quiche had great flavor and was light and fluffy. However, it was suppose to have crab and spinach, but couldn’t taste any crab in the quiche.
Service was excellent!
As always, the food at Leftbank was delicious. I had the Trout Almondine and my husband ordered the mussels. The escargot was fantastic! Unfortunately, we were seated in the back room and the lighting was just terrible. Our server was able to turn down the dimmer switch a bit, but it was still too bright and certainly unflattering. Do not take a first date to Leftbank if they seat you in the back room. Ha!
However, the live music was very nice. I believe it is every Friday. It would be super if Leftbank could continue with the music after the band leaves. Maybe a Parisian Lounge type genre, or light jazz.
Very good meal, service, etc.
The best Salad Nicoise in Marin! Absolutely delicious. Everything we ordered was terrific. Our server was friendly and attentive. And to round off our experience, a lovely dog was allowed to lay quietly under the next table. Paris in Larkspur!
Fun Lunch! Delicious Food and high Service Level. We sat outside and it was a bit chilly as we were in the shade. Heaters were there but not turned on is my only question?
We have been long time customers and this was our first meal out since the outbreak of the pandemic. We did not expect it to be business as before - and it wasn't. Service was by a "tag team" method; it seemed like we had a half dozen different servers working our table. The steak Tartare and the French onion soup were excellent, The shrimp Provencale much less so. Bottled beers only; a living wage SURcharge; $6.00 charge for a plate of stale tasting breads with butter and Maldon salt - and a $120 tab for lunch for two (with 2 beers, a glass of kir and 2 double espressos). I think I'will wait for the pandemic to pass before returning.
Super delicious salmon! Outdoor seating is nice - but we got the Magnolia side on the day it seemed ALL the trucks were delivering? We had to stop and repeat a number of times. It's not always like that. I tried 2 times to get the artisan bread basket and it never came. Ah well, we had a great time and I would def go back!
Looked as if help was sparse on Monday night, but the gentlemen covered the main room admirably. I hadn't had the sausage before--loved it, but, Of Course-a specialty of the House! We are Corte Madera Residents who come frequently to the restaurant and we are proud of the job you've done during the Pandemic. Thank You!
Restaurant has gone down hill
French food not really french
Wood tables no table clothes
Defíneles not the left bank of the past
