Executive Chef Jaco Smith consistently pushes the boundaries on traditional Latin fare by incorporating wood-fired flavors into his cuisine while boasting a view of the Willamette River that few Portland restaurants can offer. Smith comes from a large family of cattle, sheep and grain farmers. He started cooking at a young age in his mother’s kitchen. His favorite childhood memories include the tastes of dulce de leche, flan and grilled breads, reminiscent of South American flavors and commonly found on South African kitchen tables.

Literally picked due to distance from our hotel. With that said "OMG" A Must when you visit Portland. Food-Amazing, Drinks-Amazing, Staff-The best. Never heard of Tapas but you have to experience this at least once in your life.

LeChon has a pleasant and comfortable atmosphere with great service and great food. Their Happy Hour Menu is reasonably priced and provides food and drink options that were delicious. The Margaritas were great and the Empanadas are tasty. The small salad was a good accompaniment and was anything but small. Overall, our experience was very positive and we would highly recommend LeChon as a great Portland stop.
Great dinner with friends. Choose food to taste tapas style. Really need to like meat. Very accommodating with allergies. Would highly recommend but you need to book well in advance to get a table
We had a member of our party with a food allergy and our waiter and then the manager? chef? were very attentive to our needs. Throughout meal we felt cared for and even loved. We’ll done!
Had a party of 8 for my husbands birthday. Food and staff were incredible, especially our waitress Kasey! Would definitely go back
Unfortunately the food was not as good as what was expected. The Spiced Tuna Tiradito was not fresh, it was inedible. The Lomo Saltado was very salty. The Flank Steak was flavorless and cold. The Pan Seared Scallops were bland and cold. All I could recommend is the Brisket Empanadas and drinks. Overall this was a sad and disappointing dinning experience. I would not recommend.
The shrimp ceviche was outstanding - among the best I've ever tasted! Superb selection of cocktails. Sad that they ran out of bone marrow (maybe try coming earlier), but probably a testament to how good it might be.

definitely worth trying at least once! went at 9 and they ran out of the bone marrow which was sad but everything else was decent. drinks were average and took a while to come out. also don’t think places check the special notes on here so be sure to chat with your waiter!
Excellent as always. Creative tapas done well. Cocktails didn’t always hit the mark, but the Broken Promises cocktail was delicious. Standouts included the gaucho bread, shrimp ceviche, grilled octopus, fried chicken bites and the banana caramel pie.
Catherine was our server for the 2nd time in our many times there and she is amazing. Really knows her stuff, there when you need you but invisible when you don't. A real talent, can't thank her enough for another pleasant evening and great service.
I never thought that squash would ever be the dish that made my evening. It stood out, even against the excellent steak and the delicious tuna.

My partner and I had a wonderful time! We ordered 6 different tapas but the shrimp ceviche was by far our favorite. We’ve never had better. We also had 4 different cocktails from their extensive list and all were delicious. Lily was a great and attentive server, super nice! Overall an ideal experience and we can’t wait to go back

Le Chon serve the best food! The location is very close to downtown portland and you can easily walk to their restaurant which is by the river. It opens only for dinner. The food is awesome - you won't get disappointed by each and every of their dish. We love grilled octopus the most but the beef ribs and also seafood dishes are very delicious too. MUST GO IN PORTLAND :)
Every dish… tremendous. Even things you would not expect much of, like squash and goat cheese arugula salad… wow!
Cocktails are unique and interesting and selection of tremendous malbecs are great!

The staff members were very polite. I had a reservation but was not able to be seated until about a half hour after my reservation time. The food was very tasty!
Love the ambience and the energy the moment we walked in and greeted by the front of house and our server (he was awesome). Was a little disappointed that the bone marrow sold out and would be nice if someone let us know before orders were made. Food was too salty for my liking (and I LOVE salt and not shy in seasoning myself). Otherwise, this is a great date night, hang out spot, worth the visit
I love going to LeChon. It's just a short walk along the river from my condo. The food is always good and the service is too. My favorites are the octopus, mushrooms, and shrimp ceviche. We ate outside last time we were there and enjoyed it. Sometimes the music is a little loud inside and it's a challenge to have a conversation. The wait staff is usually pretty good about turning the music down, but it also depends on where you sit! The bathroom is always clean which I appreciate. I've learned over the years to make a reservation! I've been disappointed to show up just to find there aren't any tables available. My only caution to people is that LeChon can become habit forming! But it's all good!

This reservation for our anniversary dinner was incredible! We were excited to try many of the different tapas dishes to share, and the way you can order and experience everything is incredible! We had hopes to try and share different things, and that is how they present everything and allow you to keep ordering more and more things depending on how full you get, that way you don't order too much right away. ..although, I don't think there could be such a thing as "too much" here, as everything was seriously SO delicious, you'll just want more and more food to keep coming! We ordered Boacitos, two succulent, steamy pork belly buns, to die for. We had to get a 2nd round of those. In between those two orders, we also got the Lomo Saltado, perfectly seared, cooked, and seasoned steak bites amazingly paired with delicious rice cakes, cherry tomatoes, and peppers, ...soooooo excellent! Could've used a 2nd round of that as well. A Last Plane drink started it all off, as well as the Margaritas. We were too full to enjoy dessert there, but you bet we took it to go. Seriously, go here. We made reservations and had to wait a while (before and after) the set time, but it was alllllll worth the wait! Such a wonderful experience all-around. Probably the best meal I've had and will have for quite some time. It probably ruined eating anywhere else, as nothing will ever compare. Thank You! <3
