Executive Chef Jaco Smith consistently pushes the boundaries on traditional Latin fare by incorporating wood-fired flavors into his cuisine while boasting a view of the Willamette River that few Portland restaurants can offer. Smith comes from a large family of cattle, sheep and grain farmers. He started cooking at a young age in his mother’s kitchen. His favorite childhood memories include the tastes of dulce de leche, flan and grilled breads, reminiscent of South American flavors and commonly found on South African kitchen tables.

Great place to eat before a concert at the Moda. Only a few stops away on the Max train.
Went for our anniversary, arrived early and was accommodated. They had a nice handwritten card for us. Food and service was great, this place is top of our list as we are out of state visiting.
Awesome as usual! Love the service and you just can’t beat the food. One of my favorite spots in PDX currently
My daughter and I enjoyed a fantastic evening at LeChon. The food and wine were delicious and the service and environment were superb. We look forward to returning soon!
The one restaurant in Portland that consistently delivers great food and great service, night after night.
Went to LeChon to celebrate my husband’s birthday. The food was delicious, server very knowledgeable and attentive. Got champagne and husbands desert on the house. It’s a unique dining experience where you slow down to socialize, share and celebrate.
The tapas are delectable. The smoked trout on avocado toast made my eyes roll back into my head.
Made a reservation to Celebrate our anniversary. Service was great & the food was excellent. Loved all that we ordered including our servers recommendations. The tapas were the right portions. Only disappointment was the way our bill was made out. Didn’t realize there was such a thing as a ‘health & wellness’ charge that I believe was not in the original bill & was not explained to us by our server which was not a big deal but ended up giving more to either the restaurant or server on the tip portion as we left a 15% tip on the bill plus a separate $20 cash tip to our server....smh. Oh and $50 parking violation that we missed by a few minutes...lol. Otherwise a must eatery to visit when in Portland
Great and very well flavored food. Have been trying to get a reservation and finally got one for a Thurs evening. Ambience is good, but noisy. Really excellent and enjoyable food! Very good service.
We love coming to LeChon for dinner and lunch too. Great cocktails, and delicious, super flavorful food. I love that it's not flavors that you will find everywhere. We always bring our out of town guests to dine here and it never disappoints.
Amazing Anniversary dinner met with greeting card and Champaign
We were very surprised to see a handwritten anniversary card at our table with complementary champagnes. Great touch
Have been here for dinner a few times and loved it. Am pleased to report that happy hour, while a different vibe, is just as excellent!
Four friends spent a wonderful evening over Happy Hour treats and drinks. The service was great and the food even better. We'll definitely return!
Wonderful evening! My wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary here, and it was perfect. Everything from the little congratulations note they left us on the table, to the complementary dessert made us feel special and well looked after. Not to mention the food was fantastic - highly recommend the octopus! And the service was great. We will definitely be going back.
The service was prompt and good. The food was excellent. We’ll definitely be coming back.
We had "What the Chef is Eating" for our party of 6 and everyone loved it. They even graciously provided a substitute item to a member of our party who had a food allergy, while not otherwise reducing the amount of food provided to the table. Really great experience.
The flavors are always amazing. Quality is unwavering.
doesn’t stage the food so well. all tapas came at once
Awesome food and Joe our waiter was able to speak Spanish to my Argentinian mate with me. Loved the fish tanks, they are mesmerizing, and the food was delicious and came quickly, I see now why it is hard to get a reservation, well done!
Always a good meal and good service. Not my first visit nor will it be my last.
Super expensive for the quality of the food. Overvalued
Lovely food and service. Highly recommended!
Excellent food, tasty drinks and mocktails, and a jellyfish bar... this is one of Portland's best.
This was my fourth time dining at LeChon. Four of us shared 10+ tapas. The flavors and colors of the meal were incredibly fresh, then they serve the ceviche with dull gray/purple store-bought chips. I simply don't understand!? The patatas were dry. I'll maintain that I loved their brunch best of all. Still sad they discontinued brunch in favor of more money focusing on happy hour. I was "all in" the first couple times I dined at LeChon, but my enthusiasm is fading...
Always love dining here
This was our first restaurant we tried in Oregon. Overall we had a good experience.
All the drinks and food was good. The only one dish of chicken bites was not up to par. It was very dry and not very tasty at all.
As out-of-towners, this was our first visit. So impressed! Have recommended it to my son. The pork chop and bacon wrapped duck breast were divine. Loved the gaucho bread with chimichurri sauce. Enjoyed the vibe. We couldn't have been happier with this delightful spot!
Food is always so delicious and the service is great!
Food was excellent, service was great and all dishes came out in timely fashion. This is one of my new favorite spots in Portland.
The food was delicious and prepared well. Service was great and attentive.
Really fantastic. The wait staff is friendly and attentive. Food is amazing. Our new favorite place. Don't know how we have been missing it.
Food over dressed. The main ingredients flavor was lost in all the sauce.
The shrimp ceviche was the exception. That was excellent!
Great place; have gone multiple times. Fantastic tapa options so you can try lots of amazing things. Great selection of South American Malbecs.
The food here never disappoints! The avocado and trout toast is one of my favorites, a great combo of flavors.
DH and I booked an early evening table for our anniversary. We decided to order drinks and a few tapas plates before committing to an entire meal at one location for the night given that Portland is overflowing with delicious and eclectic options for food & cocktails. We arrived on time for our res, and the place was already filling up. However, as we were being led to our seats we were passing by open tables and booths in the main/front area of the restaurant where the action and scenery are a highlight (kitchen, bar, aquariums). We were seated in the very back, in what felt like a completely separate space from the main area. This also happened to be directly adjacent to the hallway where the bathrooms are. We are generally not finicky about where we sit, so long as the food/service is great. But, I think the main draw of this place is the ambiance and you just didn't get that tucked into a corner. Service is definitely on point--prompt and courteous. The food: grilled octopus, "Peruvian" chicken bites, and foraged mushrooms w/egg and toast. The octopus definitely had more tooth to it than I am used to but it wasn't tough and the flavors were delicious. I am not quite sure what made the chicken Peruvian, and while it was tasty, I don't think it is a great representation of tapas (think popcorn chicken tossed in a mildly spicy sauce). The mushrooms hit the mark, perfect egg, wonderful toast. Cocktails were pretty good, and I wouldn't have minded trying one more. But for an anniversary night, we just didn't feel either the lively vibe of downtown, nor the intimate setting of a romantic dinner so we paid up and headed elsewhere. I think you could have a fun meal here with a bigger group or if you specify that you want a table up front. Glad I gave it a try, but I won't be returning.
Our dinners at lechon have been consistently pleasurable. We also love the huge fish & jelly fish tanks. I love the bacon wrapped duck steaks. Keep up the good work!
Food was amazing and service was great!! Definitely going back!
