Executive Chef Jaco Smith consistently pushes the boundaries on traditional Latin fare by incorporating wood-fired flavors into his cuisine while boasting a view of the Willamette River that few Portland restaurants can offer. Smith comes from a large family of cattle, sheep and grain farmers. He started cooking at a young age in his mother’s kitchen. His favorite childhood memories include the tastes of dulce de leche, flan and grilled breads, reminiscent of South American flavors and commonly found on South African kitchen tables.

This is a super cozy spot right downtown. The waitress was great and very knowledgeable and the food was delicious. We will definitely be back!
Some of the best tapas I've ever eaten... I'm still thinking of the bone marrow!
Great, great food! And an old fashion bar?!?! Yes please!!!!!!!
Delicious food! Highly recommend for Portland dinning month!
My daughter and I did the Portland dining month menu. The dessert was average, but everrything else was delicious. There portions were perfect for me, but if you require larger portions, order some addional tapas from their menu. The service is excellent and the drinks are very good.
We arrived a half hour early for our reservation but they were able to seat us right away which was fabulous. The restaurant has a very modern feel with an open kitchen and a welcoming vibe. Although the tables were fairly close to one another the noise level was very reasonable. Our table all had the 3 for $33 menu which included 6 courses. The food was excellent. There wasn’t one dish that we all didn’t love. Cocktails were unique and delicious if not a bit speedy and the wine (an Argentine Syrah) was the perfect complement to the meal.
I guess the only unfortunate issue was that we ordered a bottle of wine and our waitress forgot and we did have to remind her. In the end it was not a big deal and she was a very good waitress.
This was our first first visit to LeChon so rhe 3 for $33 was the way to go. We will definitley be back!!
So good. Nice attractive atmosphere. Fun menu. Really good cocktails. Highly recommended.
We went there for Dinning month package. The food was good. But the overall service was below standard. At First, we were not introduced to the "Dining month" menu properly. At online we saw both vegetarian and non-veg option available. But the actual on-site menu had only non-veg options. For example, we don't eat pork. The first starter was pork belly based food, and our server forgot to mention it to us. For other dishes, they were really in a rush to serve them and did not gave any (or proper) description of the food. But I must say that the foods were delicious, especially the salad and the shrimp with rice.
Fantastic (and interesting!) food choices!
Fun atmosphere and great service. We’ve never been disappointed.
Service was excellent. They had 6 dishes for Portland Dining Month so we didn't need to choose! The drinks were also excellent. We will definitely go back.
Amazing. Best meal I have had in a long time.
Was more of a Chinese/Asian influence than I expected. I probably wouldn’t try that place out again if it wasn’t for the ambiance...unimpressed by the food for sure
Fabulous all the way around. Highly recommend. We ordered lots of small plates - loved the octopus, ceviche, beef ribs. Attentive service; great wine and cocktails.
I love LeChon! They ALWAYS win Dining Month by all the nice extra courses.
They are brilliant with red meat; creative with beddings and garnishes, and intra-meal variety.
I came here when I was in Portland 5 years ago and have been dreaming of going back, and it did not disappoint the second time. Me and my boyfriend enjoyed every dish we ordered, the waiter was friendly and helpful, and we never felt the least bit rushed even though we realized when we arrived that we made a reservation half an hour before close. The restaurant was beautiful, the food and drinks were amazing, we would definitely recommend Le Chon to everyone looking for a great meal.
I had eaten there with friends a few weeks ago and was blown away. This time we tried Portland Dining Month and while it was 1/2 the price, it was 1/2 the quality, portion and service. The shrimp dish was overwhelmed by the teriyaki, and the meat cuts were of lesser quality.
I’ll try it again, with hopes of a repeat of our first visit. :) it really was exceptional.
Like every time we have been, the food and service were just great. This is the first time we sat in the back patio area and frankly I prefer the front of the establishment but it was still just fine. They had just started with a new drink menu and her previous visits they were delicious. Overall, I highly recommend this establishment.
