Executive Chef Jaco Smith consistently pushes the boundaries on traditional Latin fare by incorporating wood-fired flavors into his cuisine while boasting a view of the Willamette River that few Portland restaurants can offer. Executive Chef Jaco Smith comes from a large family of cattle, sheep and grain farmers. He started cooking at a young age in his mother’s kitchen. His favorite childhood memories include the tastes of dulce de leche, flan and grilled breads, reminiscent of South American flavors and commonly found on South African kitchen tables.

This was our second visit to LeChon and we were not disppointed in the food, the drinks or the service! Love their margaritas with cucumbers, so tasty. Avocado toast with smoked trout was delicious.
Every dish was carefully crafted, fully flavored. I'm pretty sure that the shrimp seviche is one of my favorite dishes of all time.
Love this place. A little pricey, but worth it for the quality of the dishes.
Nice Dinner. Portions were a tiny bit too small. But Everything tasted amazing.
Food, drinks and ambiance was amazing.
The food was great, tapas style so recommend coming with a small group so that you can try a variety of dishes. It is a bit too dark for my liking.
Poor service lead to a disappointing experience for us. Course delivery was disjointed without sequence and too long of waits between dishes. It was a birthday celebration and with our poor experience we didn’t stay for desert.
Ambiance is great, food tasty and hot and delivered as ordered. Nice place for a special occasion.
Amazing food. Fabulous service
The food was beyond amazing. I have no words to describe how good the food was.
We have eaten here many times and often bring friends from out of town. The food was fine but the service was poor. We felt rushed at the beginning as the food came out of the kitchen before we were able to enjoy our cocktails. Then we were thinking of ordering dessert, but sat there for a good 10-15 minutes after we were handed the dessert menu. Our server did not come back to take our order so we decided to end our evening. My husband even had to get up from the table to get anyone’s attention to bring us our check. Very disappointing.
LeChon went above and beyond to make sure we had a wonderful birthday dinner celebrating 2 of our friends. I’d highly recommend it for dinner or a special night out! Be sure to get the gaucho bread!
The food here is amazing! I love doing small plates because then you can have a little bit of everything. Everything I've had has been delicious. Our service was great, and the price was pretty decent for what we got. I highly recommend.
What a menu! Great variety and flavors. Dishes complemented by some great signature cocktails and even stallar desserts.
Service was spot on. Food was delicious and offerings from the generous happy hour menu made it a bargain.
Music was too loud. Smells were intoxicating but at times smoke from the grill permeated the air enough to affect breathing difficulties. Perhaps a spot at the front window could alleviate that. Sidewalk tables drew smokers. When one is sensitive to smoke, extra care is necessary.
We celebrated a friend’s birthday last Friday evening. It was a table of six with a lot of different food sensitivities. Gluten-free, dairy free, plant focused (but not vegan). It was excellent. Cocktails were very inventive and delicious, especially the wtcid and the cinturon suelto. It was loud and very warm, but very fun!!!
The food was remarkable. I can't remember ever having such tender meat before. My husband and I shared a number of dishes and it was all perfect. It was a special anniversary dinner and we were treated to an amazing dessert. This is a wonderful restaurant.
Great food and great service!
We recommend this restaurant to all our friends , so many different taste in food
Great ambiance and exciting food and drink selection for a casual evening out
Wonderful meal and experience! The dishes came quickly and were each beautifully presented and prepared. Wait staff was friendly and attentive. One of our favorite places.
Always love the food and ambiance, our waiters were very attentive. Chicken bites are my fave and the margaritas are a must!
Initially annoyed that we were presented with a table for two in the middle of the room rather than the cozy booth we requested for our anniversary dinner. However, it was quickly rectified after we asked for a nearby booth that was available at the time. Before ordering, our waiter surprised us with 2 glasses of champagne in honor of the occasion and kindly suggested that 4-5 dishes were plenty for 2 people to share. (We asked since it was our first time there.) All the dishes we devoured were delicious! We had the mussels, crab salad, grilled octopus, beef empanadas, and pork belly. Sublime and savory. The portions were perfect; it left us wanting enough to try another plate while we felt properly indulged. Our only complaint was that the music was too loud! It was drowning the efforts of the staff who were clearly efficient and willing to showcase the food.
Great food that kept impressing from speed, presentation and taste.
It was our first time; the ambience was good. We ordered the shrimp ceviche, empanada brisket to start with; followed by the tapas portions - pork belly, smoked bone marrow and lomo saltado. All were awesome! The pork belly was succulent and super tender. The smoked bone marrow with gaucho bread was a totally different experience; rustic and super tasty. The lomo saltado was probably inspired by SE Asian cuisines and were a totally different ball game with complete change of palette; very tasty. The environment was casual and fun. With an open kitchen and friendly service; this place was a very unique experience for us and enjoyed every moment there. It’s a must visit for someone exploring the food scene in Portland and Lechon should be at the top of the list.
Best catered to groups between 2-5, definitely ask for help if in a larger party! They know their menu well so don't feel shy about asking for recommend servings!
Stumbled across this restaurant and so glad we did. The restaurant has an urban industrial vibe in an intimate setting. We should've known based on how busy it was on a late Thursday evening that it would be tasty. We started with the grilled octopus, beef empanadas and smoked bone marrow. The octopus was super tender and had a vibrant green salsa. The brisket empanada was very well seasoned. The smoked bone marrow came topped with fresh salsa, chimichurri sauce and soft gaucho bread. For the main course, my husband had the asado which is a meat lover's delight that includes steak, lamb, chicken and sausage. The only callout was the beef slices were more on the fatty side. I had the Chilean ribs which were accompanied by a great sauce and sweet peppers. Everything is served family style and even though the portions aren't huge, they are filling. Service was great! My husband also liked the cocktail drinks he ordered (el corazon quiere and cinturon suelto) I wasn't as thrilled about the sangria spritzer. Next time we're in town, we'll definitely head back.
A bit loud but fun. Interesting menu, fun cocktails and wonderful service !
It was great food and services. We’d love to go back to try more food definitely when we visit the city again.
We had previously dined at LeChon and it was a great experience...so we wanted to take another couple with us and go to their monthly Sunday Supper Series...what a bust...we paid $65 each for a meal that we could have gotten at Denny's. I don't usually write a review, but for this, I must...do not go for their expensive once-a-month special.
Lechon is our favorite restaurant, as it’s always a great experience!
Excellente. Food was wonderful. Service very very good!
This place never disappoints- great food, great drinks, great vibe!
Words can’t express how good it is. It’s a little pricey but worth every dollar
A truly delicious meal with so many different tastes! Ask your server about recommendations.... the corn and cheese fritters were awesome as well as the Lomo Saltado. Really everything was unique. The cocktails were delicious with such a unique presentation. Highly recommend the Manta Espiritu - so many flavors. You won't find a better South American cuisine in Portland. AND it was a great deal for the price!
We had a great time. The attention to detail and the food was awesome.
Came for the first time for my birthday dinner and had a range of tapas-everything was amazing. Everything we chose looked great on the menu but there's no words to describe their sauces that would do them justice. Our favorite of the night was the Lomo Saltado and the Peruvian Fried Chicken bites. Ambiance was great except for a super loud guy behind us that basically argued with his table all night but our server Will was fantastic and was knowledgeable with cocktail recommendations. Small downside was the Tiramisu cake that tasted all the same bland and no hint of coffee, but I'm definitely coming back to try everything else on the menu!!!
Our server made excellent suggestions on everything from cocktails to dinner.
The bacon wrapped duck breast may well be the best thing I have ever eaten.
Overall a wonderful experience for our anniversary.
Great shareable dishes with rich flavors! Unique cocktail menu, too. The restaurant also is eclectic and very Portland!
