My wife is gluten free (celiac) and vegan and she was able to eat here; quinoa tabouli and humus with veggies and rice crackers. Meanwhile, the meat kabobs are fantastic and the fresh pitas are to die for. I loved the range of flavors in the chef's platter.
This small neighborhood restaurant has served high-quality Lebanese food for many years. Our dishes were excellent, including the pulled lamb shoulder and the chicken kabob. Service was friendly and attentive. There is a small but good selection of craft cocktails and a good wine list.
Lovely service, great wine, delicious food. And their heavenly bread, constantly replenished. We were not rushed even though I think we were the last to leave. And, to top it all off... When they ran out of the dessert we ordered, they gave us two others with no charge.
Would have given this 5 stars. The food was outstanding, but the service was terrible.
A family & welcoming environment with a friendly & accommodating service & kitchen staff.
The service was excellent, I was celebrating a birthday and they brought us a free big desert with a candle, that was a very nice touch. The food was very good.
We ordered a bottle of red wine and it was hot to the touch and to drink. The General Manager was standing near by so we mentioned this to him. He took the wine and gave it back to the server who put it in the freezer for about 3 minutes and brought it back out. We said again, this is too warm do you have a new bottle. His answer was, we keep them all on the top shelve above the bar (which is also right outside the kitchen) so they were all hot. We’ve ordered wine here before and never had this issue. He offered to put it in the freezer longer, we said no thanks. He finally was able to produce a bottle that was at the end of the bar and was more room temperature, which we accepted. During our entire meal, not once did the General Manager check in with us or apologize. I did see him go around to other tables and glance at ours but never stopped by. I find this so incredibly rude and inhospitable that I will not be returning to this restaurant.
The service was amazing. The food was great. I love this place. Thank you Taverna!
My entree was disappointing. I noticed even my guests also did not finish their meal. You hummus selection was excellent.
Go here often, lovely neighborhood spot for great mediterranean food.
Amazing food. High quality ingredients made from scratch - tasted home cooked. Absolutely loved the Fatteh. I am dreaming about it. We'll surely be back soon enough.
Meals here are always enjoyable and I am a regular.
Food is very good and staff attentive.
Great food and atmosphere.
The food is delicious, with extraordinarily delicious bread. Our party was a group of 5 women and had requested a quiet table in the corner so we could chat. The staff was so accommidating and encouraged us to relax and enjoy our time together after lunch. It was wonderful.
The food was terrific as usual, but the noise level was excessive; we had difficulty hearing each other at a (small) table for four. Also, the tables were much too close together, and even the servers had difficulty moving around. Between the noise and the crowding, it was a less pleasant experience than usual.
Usually our experience at Lebanese taverna is great. This meal on the other hand was under whelming. The food was not up to par and was delivered all at once even though we asked for our soup and hummus first. New waiter we have never had along with what might have been a new kitchen crew?
Excellent restaurant -- great food and reasonable prices. Great service. Warm bread kept coming to the table.
Food was terrific as always.
The food was pretty good, just not fantastic. Not worth a long drive, but a good neighborhood restaurant. It seems like there was a new server who didn't really pay attention to his tables, so service was slow, but friendly.
The food was average and the restaurant seemed dirty, which was exemplified by the fact that the tap lines for the bar were not working and we were told they had to be cleaned... made for unappetizing experience.
The restaurant was great. The mezze platters super as usual. The restaurant was full when we arrived and they did not have our reservation. But they accommodated us and gave us a discount for waiting. They had real mint tea
A warm, cheerful place for delicious food that is not like anything you can prepare at home! The only problem is that it’s so hard to choose! Try a wine from Lebanon: not cheap but well paired with the menu.
I’ve been to the sister restaurant at Tyson’s, but I believe the good here is much better. The seating was rather cramped, but I had no problem hearing my date over the drone of voices from nearby tables. Overall a very nice place to eat even though they were out of Red Sangria!!!
We might have stumbled upon an “off” night. But they were out of a few dishes and way understaffed. We would order and then the staff would just to return to let us know they were or. When we arrived it wasn’t busy at all. Have had better experiences at other locations.
Nina our server was knowledgeable and delightful.
Seated immediately! Luv the food. Service (refills) a tad slow.
We have gone to this restaurant for years--since the mid 1980's and it is always delicious food. We recommend it for families, friends, special occasions, lunch or dinner. It is the "mother" of all of the chain Lebanese Taverna's and is so much better than all of the rest.
The hummus was fabulous but the falafel was a bit too crunchy-hard.
Lebanese Taverna is a good restaurant and has a few locations, in which we were dozens of times. This restaurant is THE MAIN restaurant where Lebanese Taverna was born around 30 years ago. It was great always and better when owners were there or managers who knew what to do. This time the waiter was a disastrous. He brought one martini and in ten minutes a glass of wine. He could not take two plates away... Lack of training was present and lack of simple human sense what to do.
The kitchen and service were off. There were only 2 other dining parties when we arrived, but it still took half an hour to get our appetizers. They didn’t have our favorite entree. One of the main dishes was cold.
Waiters were inattentive. When we made the reservation through OpenTable we indicated that we were celebrating a birthday. The staff never acknowledged this request. A disappointing experience.
The hummus is so good. I could eat that all day. The happy hour red wine left something to be desired but it was OK for the price.
Lebanese Taverna Westover is cozy and intimate, so the volume may be quite loud when busy, but during slower lunch/afternoon hours, it's very nice. The service is friendly, the hot bread and spices/olive oil are absolutely delicious (generous portions, too), and I have never had anything less than delightful from the menu. Lebanese Taverna has the best baba ghanouj around, and there is cute outdoor seating available.
Such a great healthy meal
I would recommend focusing on the amazing bread and hummus. The cocktails were so sweet we sent them back. The lamb kebob was disappointing.
The food is exceptional! The Lebanese Taverna is the standard for all of the wonderful Lebanese dishes that we have sampled around the world. It never disappoints. Since they started making their own pita bread a few years ago, it is really hard to resist.
Lebanese Taverna is a neighborhood favorite that never disappoints. We had the humus sampler, substituting a babaganouche for one of the four humus choices; and one other small dish. This proved more than adequate as a light dinner. Look forward to e return visit.
This restaurant is always reliable and true to its reputation.
Lebanese Taverna is a small, pleasant neighborhood restaurant. The food is well prepared. For example, the large portion of lamb in the Mouzat I had on my last visit was very tender, and the broth had a great flavor with just enough spice. Service is very friendly, when I asked about Arak I was immediately brought a sample to taste. It is also unrushed but efficient. This restaurant is a great place for a casual dinner.
Great to have a neighborhood restaurant of this quality! Service is excellent.
great Lebanese food and generous amounts of it. we shared a chefs platter with excellent mezze and then enjoyed a rich, tasty dinner. no room left for dessert! its popular on a Friday night and a bit noisy so we are glad we booked with OpenTable. Parking is an issue but we found a place on Washington Blvd and walked off a few calories uphill after dinner. It was our first visit to Lebanese Taverna but wont be our last!
