Lebanese Taverna - Westover
It was very noisy. Had not been there in a number of years and was pleased with the new version except for the noise.
I think this is the original Lebanese Taverna. We first came here in 1979 when there was just one counter and a few plastic tables and chairs. It was kind of a fast food place, but the food was good and still is... not great but good. Service has always been very personal and professional. It's a restaurant that is always a pleasure to visit.
Great food super friendly staff would highly recommend!!
Absolutely, the best hummus I have ever had. The Taboulea is fresh and very flavorful as is the Baba. If you are up for Kihhba Nayeh, they do a great job. Nice wine selection. Drafts beers are a bit limited. Try to save room for dessert!!
I made reservations for mother’s day. We were not sat when we arrived. We waited 10, 20, 30 minutes without being sat. We abandoned our appointment and went next door to Lost Dog and had a wonderful meal.
Great tasting food in a friendly neighborhood setting.
Just a great stop in life with good food and great service!! The pulled lamb...yum!!
Service was not great. The waiter was slow and had some orders incorrect. Food tasted great, though!
Sanisa was our server and she was amazing. Great food as always. We had a large group and were treated with great care and attention! Love this neighborhood spot!
Waiter was very nice and gave us baklava.
This place ruins me for any other Lebanese restaurant. Their garlic hummus is addictive and the hot fresh pitas are amazing. I really enjoy the local small cafe feeling of their Arlington location
Had a late lunch at Lebanese Taverna and it did not disappoint. Excellent food, attentive service and pleasant ambiance. Since it was an off-hour it was quiet so I can’t really judge the noise level during peak mealtime. The Lebanese in Arlington has always been a reliable neighborhood restaurant for a good meal.
Such delicious food, and service is wonderful. They are so nice. I had put on my open table reservation that we were celebrating a birthday, and they very kindly noted that and brought over a lovely dessert with candle. We so appreciated it (have had plenty of restaurants ignore open table notes of this kind). They were also happy to switch out various items due to dietary needs/preferences. Excellent place for any occasion, highly recommend to anyone!
Fantastic food! Fantastic service! Small restaurant and parking is awful...
Lebanese Taverna has great food and service. The best part of the menu is the Mezza section. The bites are delicious and sometimes a pleasantly surprising mix of flavors.
The Lebanese Taverna is a wonderful place to go to relax in the company of neighbors and their families. Our choices were delicious, from the pulled lamb and dolmades appetizers to the chicken schwarma sandwich and the traditional lamb sharhat. The servers and staff are all warm and helpful. In all, it's a great place to sample excellent Lebanese cooking.
Always wonderful food and service! Highly recommend!
Love it! Consistently good!
We went on a Saturday evening, and they struggled to get us in even though we had made reservations. We were seated about a half hour past our reservations, and it did take awhile for our food to arrive. But they were managing the crowd as best they could, and they were very courteous and continuously communicative to us throughout our stay. They were out of one appetizer, which was no big deal, but they insisted on offering a free substitution, which we gratefully accepted. We had a party of six, from age 10 to 57, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their food (even the kids, who aren't adventuresome eaters). Very kind, hard-working staff. Really charming ambiance in a cozy neighborhood setting. We'll be back.
Poor service and insipid food. Such a disappointment. Some items. It available on menu and waiter abandoned us most of the evening
First time at one of their locations outside of their original restaurant. Food quality was on par. Great to see that they were able to expand without losing their quality.
The ambiance and food are amazing! You will not be disappointed! Great value great great food!!
Lebanese Taverna is a wonderful restaurant. It has been my favorite restaurant for the entire time I've lived in the DC-area. The food is delicious, the service is impeccable, and the atmosphere is very welcoming and comfortable. I always take visitors here and I dine here whenever possible, but especially for special occasions. I highly and completely recommend Lebanese Taverna.
I had been to other locations, however not this one and this is the original/first one! Food is always delicious, consistent and great service too!
Great food and service. Location could be improved as it is a tad bit small but that doesnt impact their service or the quality of the food. Will definitely be back here again.
The food was delicious and the service was incredibly prompt even though the restaurant was packed. There were great non-alcoholic cocktails that I greatly enjoyed, as well as a pretty big wine/beer selection. Just don’t order too many appetizers, they’re bigger than you think! We got too many and had to take half our entrees home for an equally as delicious lunch.
The curtains closing off the door had a gap that caused a cold draft. Additional panels need to be added to ensure warmth when the outside door is opened on a cold day. Thanks.
We hadn't been to this local spot for more than a year, partly because the food seemed to have fallen off a bit. We were delighted to find a refreshed menu with a wider range of offerings, including an excellent chicken shawarma salad. They have always had the best hommus around and this time the shakshouky was also exceptionally good.
Great neighborhood restaurant! Friendly and professional service! Excellent Lebanese and Greek dishes. Look forward to return
Comfortable neighborhood restaurant with great food!
We have been going here over thirty years. The food is always excellent. The service usually very good. This time, at 5:30 PM on a Friday evening, they were already out of one of their main dishes (hummus special) and at the end of the evening (about 7:45 PM), they had no decaf tea. Lastly, we ordered a desert and they brought us the wrong one. It looked interesting so we didn’t send it back and shared it between the three of us. It was very good. I still recommend it but it has slightly lowered my previous expectations.
We enjoyed our meal very much. Our kids enjoy all the flavors of the fresh hummus. Things add up quickly for a family of four though.
All the food was very good. Nothing stood out a memorable but all good. Tables and seating are very packed in.
I had the beet salad but it was inedible as the dressing was completely acidic. I did not complain as we were with another couple and didn't want to make a fuss. My partner had the lamb in pitta and he left a lot of it as it was very dry. Unfortunate, as we have been here quite a few times and always found it to be very good. The waiter who served us was quite surly.
We arrived shortly before noon on a weekday and the dining room was nearly empty, so conversation was easy. By the time we left, a little after 1PM, it had filled up and we could hardly hear ourselves talk. I've been going to this restaurant for nearly 30 years and it never disappoints.
Well crafted Mediterranean fare delivered with friendly service. The lamb and sharma will not disappoint.
Amazing food and service. Our waiter was excellent, and my friend who grew up in Persia said it was quite authentic!!!
With Lebanese Tavernas popping up over the Washington area, we must say we were disappointed with this one. The food is, as expected, very good. Top marks for food. The pita bread, served puffy and hot at the table, is exceptional. My lamb stew was very good and the kabobs were, as expected, very good. The restaurant was slightly off-peak, but still, the decor is old and needs badly to be professionally cleaned and even updated. The restaurant and the rest areas were nice, but not as clean and fresh as I would have expected. There is room for maintenance improvement here, but it would be worth it.
Healthy, tasty food. Plenty of vegetarian options. Don't miss the chicken shawarma, hummus, babaganoush, lentil soup, or grape leaves! Consistently deliciously prepared. Small but good beer/wine selection, especially the Sweetwater IPA and Ksara reserve du Couvent Cabernet. Great wait staff, and cozy digs where you can hear each other in conversation. Our favorite neighborhood restaurant.
We had not been to this place in several years and were impressed that they have renovated and expanded their establishment. Things were a bit crowded and noisy on a Saturday night at 6:30 but by the time we left at 8, it had quieted down considerably. Reservations are a must -- and maybe at 7 pm or later. Nonetheless, the food was delicious and - except for a mix up on a wine order that was rectified quickly - the service was gracious and impeccable. Parking is a bit challenging. But overall, we do plan to return to this lovely restaurant.
