Lebanese Taverna - Westover
We enjoyed our meal very much. Our kids enjoy all the flavors of the fresh hummus. Things add up quickly for a family of four though.
All the food was very good. Nothing stood out a memorable but all good. Tables and seating are very packed in.
I had the beet salad but it was inedible as the dressing was completely acidic. I did not complain as we were with another couple and didn't want to make a fuss. My partner had the lamb in pitta and he left a lot of it as it was very dry. Unfortunate, as we have been here quite a few times and always found it to be very good. The waiter who served us was quite surly.
We arrived shortly before noon on a weekday and the dining room was nearly empty, so conversation was easy. By the time we left, a little after 1PM, it had filled up and we could hardly hear ourselves talk. I've been going to this restaurant for nearly 30 years and it never disappoints.
Well crafted Mediterranean fare delivered with friendly service. The lamb and sharma will not disappoint.
Amazing food and service. Our waiter was excellent, and my friend who grew up in Persia said it was quite authentic!!!
With Lebanese Tavernas popping up over the Washington area, we must say we were disappointed with this one. The food is, as expected, very good. Top marks for food. The pita bread, served puffy and hot at the table, is exceptional. My lamb stew was very good and the kabobs were, as expected, very good. The restaurant was slightly off-peak, but still, the decor is old and needs badly to be professionally cleaned and even updated. The restaurant and the rest areas were nice, but not as clean and fresh as I would have expected. There is room for maintenance improvement here, but it would be worth it.
Healthy, tasty food. Plenty of vegetarian options. Don't miss the chicken shawarma, hummus, babaganoush, lentil soup, or grape leaves! Consistently deliciously prepared. Small but good beer/wine selection, especially the Sweetwater IPA and Ksara reserve du Couvent Cabernet. Great wait staff, and cozy digs where you can hear each other in conversation. Our favorite neighborhood restaurant.
We had not been to this place in several years and were impressed that they have renovated and expanded their establishment. Things were a bit crowded and noisy on a Saturday night at 6:30 but by the time we left at 8, it had quieted down considerably. Reservations are a must -- and maybe at 7 pm or later. Nonetheless, the food was delicious and - except for a mix up on a wine order that was rectified quickly - the service was gracious and impeccable. Parking is a bit challenging. But overall, we do plan to return to this lovely restaurant.
A neighborhood favorite! If you haven’t had the hummus you definitely need to — it’s to die for.
Excellent food and service. The original location! Start to finish—- excellent.
Lebanese Taverna is my favorite Arlington restaurant. Foid and service are amazing. Parking is a pain, but it really doesn't matter, because the dining experience is that good. Craig Herberg
As always, our lunch at Lebanese Taverna/Westover was great! Terrific service too.
Nice place, the service so so ,food is outstanding . I think they can work on the service . I couldn't understand what she was saying but she got the order right .
We were a group of four who have been to the Lebanese Taverna restaurants many times. This location is more like small town neighborhood. The food is excellent. We intend to keep coming here.
My boyfriend and I made a reservation here before our homecoming dance. Service was good and polite. We had a great dinner to start off our evening
My husband and I enjoy Middle Eastern food and this is one of our favorite places to come when visiting Washington DC. Also, convenient because they have several locations around the city. The Chef's platter is my favorite - a chance to try 9 different items on their menu. If you are looking for wonderful, healthy, Middle Eastern Food, then make sure you try this restaurant for lunch or dinner.
We have been here several times and always have a great meal. Service is warm and friendly, food is tasty, fresh, and delicious!
My favorite shawarma place. Ask for their Shawarma plater!
We very much enjoyed the neighborhood feel and the delicious food. The variety platter is a great way to start.
We are returning customers every time we visit from Florida. Never disappointed!
Very disappointing. We were a table of 6. Service was very slow. They forgot to put in my entree, and when it came it was over cooked. They brought me a salad to chew while I waited (and the rest ate their entrees); but I found out that another in our party didn’t get their salad. We went there with our parents after our daughter’s show. Dinner took close to two hours due to the slow service. Though they didn’t acknowledge the slow pace, they did give us a “complimentary” dessert to share. Food was good overall, but we will not return.
Other then the noise level being too loud, the food was great, service was good and family was 😆
Delicious authentic Mediterranean Lebanese food. Nice service, unassuming location and eatery and very casual. Very enjoyable all around and good pricing. A favorite go to place!
Captain Platter was a wonderful appetizer. Lamb stew was good, but not great.
Did not have available one of the signature Lebanese dishes. A major disappointment
Always great food and great service.
Big disappointment, this is not the same restaurant I remember from years past. The service was terrible and the food nothing better than OK. Don't know if this is the same for all their locations, but I'm definitely avoiding this one.
Food was pretty good but expensive. The service was lacking.
I have loved the Lebanese Taverna since the first time I tried it! Usually, I go to one of the other branches of the restaurant, but this one is quite near my current apartment so we decided to try it out. I have to say that the quality is consistent, no matter which one you choose to go to, which was a nice surprise!
This visit, we indulged in a wide variety of appetizers and salads. My nieces are vegan and they were very happy with the food. For the 6 year old, we chose the Falafel plate from the Child's menu and a lemonade. Her Mom ordered the Falafel salad, which was a very nice portion. I ordered lentil soup as my main and helped myself to lots of nice warm bread and delicious garlic hummus. We also ordered fattoush, warak al eineb (grape leaves stuffed with rice, chickpeas, tomatoes, onions and mint), and mezza fries - a wonderful fresh french fry with sumac, cumin and garlic sauce. Everything was so good we ordered an extra garlic hummus to take home!
Took my parents and my family there on a Friday night for my dad's birthday, on his suggestion. We had all been there before and have never had a memorably bad experience. This time was different.
An older gentleman was our server, and he just didn't seem to give a darn about giving us a decent experience. He basically had a scowl on his face the entire time. He messed up my order, bringing me a Shwarma sandwich when I had asked for a salad, but the thing that bothered me was the fact that he didn't acknowledge his mistake or apologize in any way. He also didn't bring our our drinks until I had reminded him twice. The place was not busy in the least, so this was not a matter of a busy bartender or anything, and it was just a glass of wine and a pomenade. In any case, he was simply inefficient and unfriendly.
Finally, the food was not even as good as a food truck. My mom ordered a lamb shank, and instead of a tender braised shank that fell of the bone, she received an overcooked, stringy, chewy piece of meat that had clearly been cooked one or even several days earlier. The chicken on the Shwarma was equally overcooked and dry. Overall it was a very disappointing experience for everyone and we will not be going back to that location.
Everything was great, the server was new but she still did an awesome job. You can tell she was nervous but she was pleasant. The hummus was amazing and fresh. Especially the spicy hummus with veggies! Great food
Mother’s Day menu was great.
We have been coming here for years. I have no idea what was going on during our meal on Saturday evening, but the service was atrocious and the food was cold as a result. We waited almost 10 minutes just to get water at the table, had to ask about our appetizers when they did not show, and when our entrees came after a very long wait (missing one), they were cold as if they had been sitting on the counter for far too long. After our experience, we are going to think long and hard about returning anytime soon.
My husband and I took our mothers for an early Mother's Day celebration. It was very nice, but the loud music from the speakers was unwelcome for dining with elderly people.
My wife is gluten free (celiac) and vegan and she was able to eat here; quinoa tabouli and humus with veggies and rice crackers. Meanwhile, the meat kabobs are fantastic and the fresh pitas are to die for. I loved the range of flavors in the chef's platter.
This small neighborhood restaurant has served high-quality Lebanese food for many years. Our dishes were excellent, including the pulled lamb shoulder and the chicken kabob. Service was friendly and attentive. There is a small but good selection of craft cocktails and a good wine list.
Lovely service, great wine, delicious food. And their heavenly bread, constantly replenished. We were not rushed even though I think we were the last to leave. And, to top it all off... When they ran out of the dessert we ordered, they gave us two others with no charge.
Would have given this 5 stars. The food was outstanding, but the service was terrible.
A family & welcoming environment with a friendly & accommodating service & kitchen staff.
