Everyone attending the luncheon enjoyed the food and the ambience of Lebanese Taverna on Connecticut Avenue. Great place for lunch, especially as the restaurant is so close to a metro station. That makes it so easy to travel to and from the restaurant.
Everything was as good as can be expected, except for one thing: our waitress.
1. Asked our drink order within 120 seconds of our sitting down, having not yet provided any menus
2. Our drinks came promptly, but then put food took a notably long time to arrive once we ordered. So, unsurprisingly, both our appetizers and entrees came at once, which as far as I'm concerned defeats the purpose of appetizers.
3. Finally, one appetizer had been totally forgotten.
I'll definitely go again and I of course recommend it! It's a great place, this was a one-off experience, and I'm sure I'll come back. Just maybe not if I'm exceptionally hungry.
All time favorite in DC ., always delicious, great service
Great food and the service was superior. Large selection and many items are shareable or family style. Our party of seven shared four or five appetizers, enjoyed some unique drink options and four well appointed entrees. Drinks and food were delightful.
Good food, great service. Mix of Middle Eastern fare.
Excellent kabobs and great service. Woodley Park great location.
Great mezze. I love their kibbe, m'saka, hommos, falafel, and fatayer.
I've eaten at Lebanese Taverna multiple times over the years at various locations. My only quibble this time is the lack of the attention to keeping our table cleared of empty plates and puddles of water (from sweating glasses). The place was not that busy the evening we were there, so this should not have been that difficult. Regardless, I will return again as I love their food. The spicing of the kibbe is worth the trip alone in my eyes.
Nicest Lebanese restaurant I've been in anywhere
I had lunch at the Taverna, where I had eaten several meals a year ago and enjoyed them. This time, not so much. My beet salad was drowning in dressing, the beets were soggy, and the cranberries were sparce. The waitress was adequate but not too interested in us, as we were not ordering much.
The restaurant is pleasant inside but much less noisy outside on the patio.
We had visited Lebanese Taverna in Bethesda, MD, a couple of years ago. We were looking for a place to have dinner close to a Metro station adjacent to our BnB in the Adams Morgan neighborhood, in order to make an 8PM curtain at the Folger Theater across town. We took an early reservation on a Friday evening , so as not to rush our meal. Although we were seated promptly, we sat without being approached by wait staff for an uncomfortably long time. Staff seemed to be taking their time making their way onto the floor. Once our server, Noud, arrived, all went well. Food was well prepared, though not as flavorful as our experience at the Bethesda location.
Service was awful, the beef and lamb tartare was was like paste, had no taste and was warm.
Always great !
Everyone I take to the Lebanese Taverna can't wait to return.
A neighborhood jewel. Lovely setting with choices of either authentic Lebanese tapas or full dinners.
Ok, nothing special
The service was poor- no silverware, messed up order, charged me the wrong amount. The food was mediocre. Seems like it has gone downhill.
Our waiter, victor, was a rock star and explained which dishes were from which regions. We had a great dinner and will deffo come back if we are in D.C. again!
Went here years ago and had a poor experience, but I revisited recently and was pleasantly surprised. GREAT food, and a beautiful restaurant. Service could use improvement, and was the only consistent problem since my last visit.
Hadn't been back here in many years and was happy to find it as good as I remembered it. Nice room, food and service were great.
I loved Lebanese Taverna! Everything about my experience was positive from the moment I walked through the door. The entire staff was pleasant and helpful, and the room was really nice. Then the food arrived. Oh my goodness, I have not had a meal in a restaurant that was that good in nearly a year! Everything was visually appealing and tasted wonderful. I thought Zaytinya's pita was good until I had Lebanese Taverna's--they were thin and warm and absolutely delicious. I got the shawarma platter and everything on it was perfect. Then I finished off with some cardamom tea and the experience was complete.
I highly recommend Lebanese Taverna, and plan to eat there again the next time I'm in the DC area.
Our waiter Victor was very personable. He did a wonderful job making a great restaurant even better.
Really good humus, lamb is very tender, I do recommend the lamb fatteh which is pretty good!
We have been going to Lebanese Taverna when in DC since the 1980s. The décor has gotten better over time. The food was always terrific. There were many larger groups and folks celebrating a special occasion, as were we. The mezze platter (appetizer sampler) was superb, as were our salmon and shrimp kebab dishes. Service from our waiter was only so-so, but not enough to affect our enjoyment of the food and ambience.
The food was a good change to the regular US restaurant chains, in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The service level was good and the price - value relationship correct. We would
return and try out some of the other meals offered on the menue.
Always delicious and the best hummus I've ever eaten.
We love Lebanese food and hesitant to eat what we can make at home. Fantastic food! just like home. We ordered family style to try as many dishes as possible!
Great experience to introduce my teenager to "other" foods. The staff made some delicious suggestions.
Great food as usual (3rd time), but poor even worse service ever !
Friendly and attentive service. Food was excellent. Atmosphere was a bit loud but we knew that going into it and it did not detract from our evening. There were 6 in our party. Everyone was happy with both the appetizers and their entrees and we each got something different. I will definitely go back.
Food was good. Our car got broken into during lunch parked around the block on Calvert.
We took a party of eight to Lebanese Taverna while on vacation in Washington. The restaurant was recommended by a family member, and she certainly did not steer us wrong. The family-style menu's were not only yummy and healthy but copious potions that left an entire meal for the following day! The service was impeccable and very accommodating. I can highly recommend this restaurant!
