Friendly staff, excellent food choices and the quality was superb!
Great food but a little on the loud side
A coworker recommended this restaurant, and we're so glad we found it. The food was outstanding. And our waitress was kind and patient as we made our selections. We hope to visit again when in DC.
Too loud for enjoyable conversation.
Great food. Poor service. Waiter couldn’t handle his station effectively. Appeared disorganized for the demands of the job on a busy evening. Or the restaurant needs more help.
This place used to be good but now the food is bad, the service is slow and disorganized. It took us over an hour to get our meal. I am not ever going back there. I didn't even tip the waiter.
Great Lebanese food in Woodley Park area. Highly recommend!
We shared hummus sampler and the imperial platter and we had plenty of food for two. The white house sangria was perfect! Friendly service, elegant interior. Excellent choice!
For my family, Lebanese Taverna is the best restaurant for lamb dishes, stuffed grape leaves, hummus, falafel and salads. Topping the list is the pita bread. Our server Shared S. was very friendly and explained the various dishes. Lebanese Taverna is always on my list when I visit my family in Washington, D.C. I wish I had one near me in California!
Service was pretty poor this time, waiter took a long time to take our order, got one order wrong, came back to refill water and soft drinks when we had already finished our meal. Food was very good. it was busy this night but that should not be an excuse for poor service,
we went to the taverna for lunch.
The place is quiet and spacious. The food is tasty and cheap. A great deal, altogether.
Amazing food. Everything we ordered was fresh and delicious and very good size. The only thing is they were a bit slow on service but otherwise beautiful and calm environment.
Excellent food and service.
Took a former student who was in town for a conference. I have always loved the "original" Taverna, and it continues to evolve while maintaining its standards. Every dish of our mezze order was excellent, and my guest was impressed enough to take some other friends to the Taverna during the conference.
We were there the day the conference was just beginning, and the room was nearly full but not mobbed. On the Saturday of the conferende, service outside was a bit slow, but the place was (deservedly) packed. Still the best food on that stretch of Connecticut Ave.
The food, service and ambiance were excellent. The inside is lovely but the weather was so good that we ate outside.
This restaurant was recommended to me by a friend and it did not disappoint. I went with one friend and we got 4 different messa's and they were all really delicious. The atmosphere was really nice and the server we had was great. I would come here time and time again. They also validate parking for the lot underneath the building which is great for any DC location.
An easy walk from the Omni Shoreham, or the Woodley Park Metro stop, the Lebanese Taverna offers a lovely opportunity to try Lebanese wines and beers and some amazing dinners. We started with the hummus sampler. One of our group had never had hummus he liked, and this brought a breakthrough -- he loved it. Two of us ordered the lamb shank with green lentils and artichokes, which was a substantial-sized dish. The meat was tender and tasty, and it easily came off the bone. The other two ordered the chicken curry. One of them likes spicy food, and the other avoids it, but they both enjoyed this preparation of chicken, veggies and sauce over rice. We tried a couple of delightful Lebanese wines. Our server was a helpful young woman who didn't rush us through the meal. It was loud enough to be difficult to hear until the end of the evening, my one criticism of this location. I wish restaurants could figure out a way to have a few tables that encouraged conversation rather than inhibiting it. It was a lovely and relaxing dinner.
Had lunch here while at a conference across the street; I loved that I was able to make a reservation and we were immediately seated. We decided to share a number of their small plates and everything was absolutely delicious!
I came here with my friends who have severe dietary restrictions (One is vegetarian, lactose intolerant and has celiac), as we are often able to work around their restrictions with Mediterranean cuisine - there were sufficient vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free options, and everything was delicious. We were seated promptly, however the service was a bit slow and unenthusiastic. Our server, did, however, have knowledge about the menu/allergen information and was friendly enough. We started with the hommus sampler - it was tasty, and each hommus was special in its own way (The garlic one was my favorite) and had the perfect amount of oil. Most of us got falafel sandwiches. The falafel was crispy and bursting with flavor, and the accompanying greens were fresh. Will definitely be back in the future.
Excellent food, atmosphere, and service. Went with a group of 5 for lunch and really enjoyed it.
Enjoyed trying fun new things.
Every time we come to DC we always dinner at Lebanese Taverna! Wonderful food, and excellent service. I highly recommend.
Authentic Lebanese cuisine. Great flavors, fresh and tasty!
Wonderful food, service and ambience. Can’t wait to go back.
I took a group of friends who had never been to Lebanese Taverna. They have some dietary restrictions and I thought there would be plenty of vegetable options. The group ordered a ton of appetizers, soup, bread, hummus and loved everything. The only complaint is that on a busy night, the restaurant is loud. Otherwise, good meal for a reasonable price.
Always a great experience! Outstanding service! They are always attentive, kind and welcoming. Food is fresh and delicious, portion sizes are generous. Excellent gluten free options available for those with Celiac or gluten sensitivity- our servers have all been very knowledgable about how each menu item is prepared and which items were safe for us to order. Nice wine selection. Very family-friendly service for our 3 young children in an atmosphere that adults can enjoy. Highly recommend!
I've been a big fan of Lebanese Taverna's Arlington location since I first ate there in the late 1970s. Great ambiance, authentic food, and great service. I enjoyed the same quality food at the Washington location, but I found the atmosphere just a bit impersonal. I admit that it could be just me, but I think I'll stick with the Arlington location.
Great experience. We enjoyed out time there. Leb Taverna did not do anything for my parents anniversary though. Thank you.
Our server was so sweet and helpful. Food was great. We really enjoyed our time here during our vacation.
Stopped in for a light dinner. Waiter very helpful with selecting wine. Enjoyed a few appetizers including samosas and tzatziki - fabulous!
We waited for food for 40 minutes only to request for it to-go because we to return to a meeting. 2 of 3 orders were incorrect.
Food was outstanding, and the service was spot on. Highly recommended!
Fast, well prepared food with kind staff.
We made a reservation that included a note that one member of our party was in a wheelchair. Upon arrival, the hostess tried to seat us in a booth. When we were reseated, the section was not staffed and so we finally had to flag a waiter for service. After that everything was great.
I checked my watch, anxiously - half past 7 - I grimaced; it was just as I had expected.
I hadn’t eaten much that day: a sandwich and a few chips for lunch, maybe a cookie to tide me over until dinner. I knew that by the time my 6:45 reservation for Lebanese Taverna rolled around I’d be famished. The clock struck 6:30 - “time to call my Uber,” I thought. I looked forward to satisfying my satiety with hommus and freshly baked bread.
My uber ride was quiet, but peaceful. My date (sorry gentlemen, unfortunately I’m not single) and I strolled up to the packed restaurant hand-in-hand, excited.
We were promptly seated, and within minutes had ordered a hommus plate for the table. With a grin ‘cross our faces, we laughed gleefully at the prospect of warm bread filling our stomachs.
As the minutes ticked on, my grin faded. Plates of food and baskets of bread whisked by my face - not quite unlike the bullets that whizzed by me during my tour in Vietnam. The smell, the faces, all reminiscent of a time I thought was in the past. It was eerily quiet, the loud chatter of the restaurant driven away by my thoughts; the gloomy lighting replaced by a hot, beating sun. That pit in my stomach, was it hunger or was it fear?!
It had been over 30 minutes - no food graced my stomach, and no reassuring apologies from the waitress calmed my soul. I was snapped out of my thoughts when my date grabbed my wrist, exclaiming, “LOOK, AT LONG LAST, IT IS THE HOMMUS,” or something like that - I don’t usually listen to what he says. And that’s when I realized: I’m 19 and haven’t been in Vietnam. It was all so sudden, so shocking. My whole life was a lie.
Those 30 minutes were the longest of my life, but I’ve come to peace with it. I understand that while it might not have been what I wanted, it was what I needed. So thank you, Lebanese Taverna. I’m glad your service sucked so much. I’m happy that there was way too much dressing on my salad. I really just can’t wait to come back.
I have dined at this restaurant for years and it never disappoints! Great service, great food and an overall wonderful experience. Try the "whipped garlic" with an order of french fries ...the best (if you love garlic).
I thought the chicken shawarma sandwich was not very good and seemed a little tough and pink. Could have been dark meat or not fully cooked. Love the fresh bread and spices in oil, though.
Wonderful service. Terrific waitress!
The young woman waiting our table was OUTSTANDING!! Thank you.
